    Re-seat the neck. Usually works for the E string problem.
    Torque screws half turn at a time each in turn when setting.
    Most Squiers are 30 minutes of handwork from being excellent playing instruments.
    The pickups however....
    Enjoyed the vid.

      Thanks I’m glad you enjoyed it. And You’re right on the money. that was one of the first things I tried before I did the video. Unfortunately for this one I think it needs a partial fret dress if the shim doesn’t work which I have not tried yet. although noticeable the problem is so minuscule that I think the shim will work.

      Are the pickups really bad? Do you know if they are as good as epiphones pro-bucking pickups? I know it's quite random question.

    • @unlockyourlute
      @unlockyourlute  2 місяці тому

      @@matthewjdouglas6471 I’m not sure in regards to the comparison. I personally do not like the pickups whatsoever. However this is subjective. They are super beefy and the clarity for me is lacking. the coil taps do help with this however not enough for me to be able to keep the pups stock. Don’t get me wrong I love this guitar but the pups are def a weak point for me.

    Nice looking guitar. Strings falling off of the fretboard, can sometimes be fixed by loosenig the neck screws a little, and sliding the neck up or down (in relation to playing position), to centre the strings on the fretboard. Good luck

    Thanks for the no BS review. I have played a Travis Bean for decades ago, and my main criticism is the clangy sound (too many overtones), especially when adding some overdrive to the sound. It was disappointing to hear a similar unclear sound on this guitar.

    Great video man and the truth about Squiers. I have 3 different versions of Tele Squiers. I had to change the tuners recut a new nut, level and polish the frets, and change the electronics on all 3. Considering the cost of a Classic Vibe or Paranormal series you can put another $200 worth of work and parts and have a guitar that plays and responds like a $1000 guitar, but still not good for resale after all the upgrades. So if you plan to buy one it's gonna be a keeper. Have a good one.

    • @unlockyourlute

  • @Markleford
    @Markleford 4 місяці тому +1

    It's almost never the tuners that are the problem on a fixed bridge guitar -- it's the nut. Like you say toward the end of the video, make sure you use graphite in the slots, or whatever lube of choice.
    Your battle with strings falling off the fretboard also shows how often it's the nut's fault in possible QC issues (along with tuning problem for cowboy chords!). Though when you shim it you'll have the opportunity to re-seat the neck as well to get the angle right, which might exonerate the nut.

      @unlockyourlute  4 місяці тому

      @@davidmullins3936 good attention to detail. I had to cut that part out of the review because I ranted for too long and it wasn’t as cohesive. I actually use the exact coil tap set up on all my guitars which was a huge draw for me to get this one. And to be clear is still a huge draw because all I have to do is drop in my preferred pick ups. However for me the stock Pickups were not even usable on the Humbucker mode. (j'utilise un traducteur) C'est une excellente question ! La réponse de base est que la conception du pont TOM aura plus de durabilité en général en raison de la connexion entre la surface du bois et celle du pont. même si, disons, un pont à queue dure de stratocaster semble plus grand, il y a plus de surface de contact avec un TOM. j'espère que cela répond à votre question.

    It's interesting that you don't like the pickups. I'm not in love with the sound of the guitar - personal taste I suppose. I'm not in love with the faux-vintage tuning machines used by Squier. I wouldn't call them out and out garbage, but the split shaft tuning machines on my newer Affinity are noticeably more comfortable, turn more smoothly, and are easier to use. I'm personally a believer in function over fashion.

    Your playing is good. Put a thicker high e string on like .011 or .012. for string slipping off. The guitar sounds muddy for sure. Change your amp settings more treble, less midrange less bass. It looks good but that's about it. Oh not all fender humbuckers are crappy. I have 2 mim strats and both with humbuckers in the bridge and they sound fantastic. It's a squire. They cheap for a reason. Stay away from Squires.

    It plain just doesn’t sound good. As far as broken headstocks, strap locks are your friend. Headstocks don’t break on their own, i don’t care what the broke ass haters in their parents basement say. Some neglect or abuse went on.

      @@ro307805 100% agree, strap locks will help mitigate a majority of drops that can easily lead to broken headstocks on any guitar, however, that won’t
      rid of the other issue, I was referring to. Don’t get me wrong. I love Les Pauls. And thank you for the PSA and wise words my friend. It will for sure help many :)
