I think it's a unique and interesting portal. Thematically it forces tempo changes throughout the entire lobby, incentivizing everyone to itemize towards defeating the Stage 5 crab (DPS + Lifesteal) when player health pools can start becoming critically low. I also enjoy the idea that you no longer get off scot free with the amount of rewards you receive from the four previous PVE round Scuttles, and that you absolutely need to draft something from those additional loot drops to combat the boss mob.
I actually don't love this portal because the only boards that win have a lot of healing, particularly melee carries like moshers or edgelords. Most comps with backline like Soju's don't have enough healing for the absurd AOE damage that the king crab deals, and it just kills your backline leaving you with no damage.

First time I was in a lobby with this. I was 4th with 4 players remaining, me and 3rd place both died to it. Top 2 survived

I like the idea of being able to lose a PVE round but making it one unit that AOEs your whole board was a really bad way to do it as it HEAVILY favors some boards over others
Strong tanks don't mean anything because it always hits backline.
You need to have life steal on your carries because it always hits backline.
If your team does mostly AOE damage you're screwed because it's only a single unit.
Currently it is WAY to easy for situations like this to happen where the strongest person in the lobby is losing to stage 5 scuttle but weaker boards are winning.
Its an item diff...no lifesteal no win...its as simple as that

@@thedboi1465 I’m not opposed to harder PVE especially if it’s a portal. The dev team had time to ensure that the difficulty of said PVE round is equal for ALL comps (AD, AP, front to back, back to front). Also u can’t just sac this stage, u lose like 9 hp from losing to the crab. That’s a whole ass placement diff

I know it is a for fun portal, but not always do you have access to a healing item, on top of some units just not using a healing item. I mean imagine playing Karthus and Akali, even with a BT/HoJ/Gunblade on Akali you are not healing the amount necessary to survive this round. Jhin would also be dead by the time he sets up his turrets, moreover it is not very likely you will have him 2 starred. It is funny that frontline doesn't matter since your carries will just die. On the other hand, comps like Riven/Yone/Yas reroll will be perfectly fine.
It just seems unreasonable that a for fun portal will limit the comps and decisions you have to make in order to survive one round of PVE instead of doing the exact opposite, which the normal Scuttle Puddle does very well.
Or just dont be low enough hp

4 players won. Crab Rave is there to reward you for 5 stages, you BETTER be stronger than a normal non-Crab Rave round at 5-7.
