I just met this guy. I'm sitting in the bank and this older gentleman is walking past me. The closer I look at him I'm saying to myself...this guy looks very familiar. So I approach him and ask are you a martial artist? He softly replies yes. I'm like I recognize you from UA-cam!!! We talked for a few minutes. He was very humble and approachable.
My son is taking stick fighting here in North Carolina USA. It has built his confidence. He was shy after coming to the US from the Philippines, and the training keeps him in touch with his culture. I have posted videos of his training.
Translate this to empty hand with his high and low punching with open hand and hammer fist strikes. Couple that with his block and pull defensive system and this would devastate people with ruthless efficiency. It would be like wing chun on steroids! The skills that this two gentlemen have is poetry in motion. I'm 32 now! Iv been studying various martial arts since the age of 5 and this has just reminded me why I love it so much THANK YOU for the video :-) I feel like a 5 year old again. I need this in my life
in filipino stick fighting age doesn't matter much as long as youre healthy enough to swing the stick. . one need not to split the legs for high kicks and punch heavy bags. .and fancy and superficial moves. .you need only to efficiently swing the sticks at say, 80-100kms per hour. .
I’ve only had 2 lessons so far so watching these two go at this speed and accuracy is just amazing to me. I used to think I was a pretty good martial artists but this system is on another level of speed and intuition. I love it!
@@simpleman8644 Damm congrats bro. I hope you complete your training. How many times a week did you train, I could only afford one. Hoping to restart next year.

I'm half Pinoy half Mexican . My Dad was Pinoy, He wanted to teach me the art of the fighting sticks, but I was only six years old and not interested.I regretted all my life.
Judoboy Maui they train in both actually, just depend on what the Grandmaster easily trains with. But they still follow the basic progress system of Stick first, Blade next, bare knuckles later.

balintawak is focused on Reflexes and Close quarter.... because most street fight happen in close quarter ambush attack... you rely mostly on Reflexes and quick reaction to defend yourself.... so this is the Focus of Balintawak style.... You can study any style of Eskrima and supplement it with Balintawak style.... and you will be a well rounded fighter....
If you ever get involved in our counter-to-counter flow drills in balintawak, you'll find out that it can cater to your needs. You can go half speed to learn new techniques, and even an "aerobic" or "cardio" component when going fast. As you progress through each level, you'll naturally engage less of the arms and more of the core and legs. It's more of a work out than it looks.
Put your theory to the test and see what happens. This art comes from being tested in WW2, costing the Japanese military 492,000 casualties. Next can step up anytime, we are easy to find, stop on by.

FMA is so effective because you dont necessarily need a stick to fight, infact you can apply same concept using bare hands
What a gem! Always great seeing GM Taboada in action. Thanks for the post

I see you sparing with a right handed against right handed. I left handed. Would love to see right against left. Thanks
That will be wonderful. It's like fighting a mirror image.
I asked my instructor the same question, he gave me a honest answer. He does not know how to it
my lolo (grandfather) was a grand master of arnis also, and he was a soldier during world war 2,....
Galing lods mga masters vs master. Gusto ko rin matutunan yan. Yan nalang kasi ang hindi ko pa gaanong natutunan eh
Interpretation of the different FMA styles are really interesting. Some styles train based on stick concepts, while others on bladed weapons.

Does GM Bobby Taboada have a training group in the San Francisco bay area? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Actually Shawn Hayes of Hayes Martial Arts in Fremont is a Full Qualified Instructor under GM Taboada. Great guy and great martial artist.
sir Bobby do you have a school here in manila....i just want to learn FMA under youre system...how much if i enroll to learn about...
I'm pretty sure that GM Taboada is still located in North Carolina, USA.

Sir Bobby taga cebu kaba.
He's from cebu. His master was teovel Velez. Velez was a student of venancio bacon. The founder of balintawak eskrima
Can bambo be used?
Yes! You even use a pen or pencil.
double mirror or double shadow (the essence of vajira)

Nice video. Curious, what is the length of the stick in this system? Mahalo.
Junior Lee Typically 28" but they all can play w/ different lengths.
28 inches
Always like that..no real sparring let's if he can still catch the blows of the rattan
He is doing it, real time
Hi,
This video is from a member of www.internationalbalintawak.com and www.balintawak.co.uk

karambit.
Great vid. Sped up a lil too much tho. Takes away from it IMO
Jon Leonard That's the importance of learning directly from the teacher and not videos.
they are breaking the strike but do it reality in filipino fight
The fly swatting art ! My hanbo would snap those shity sticks
actually those stickes are for training, it applies to knives
Those shitty sticks would be hitting your hands, limbs and head and not your hanbo. Hitting stick on stick is for training bro.
lol why would you be using a hanbo against rattan? you don't seem to understand filipino martial arts...
