“the road climb from hell” - I’m thinking of doing that tomorrow lol. You’ve just appeared on my playlist this evening and I’ve enjoyed watching 3 of your rides so far.
Those little falls often end up being very painful and dangerous. Trackers is a good idea and is see you are wearing a full face. I have my “find my phone” set up so the wife knows where I am. If I haven’t moved for a bit she messages me. What a beautiful ride and nice elevation. Thanks again
Thanks Calvin. Most places I ride there is no phone coverage. Find my phone will just be working on the mobile internet. With the inreach it runs on the iridium satellite network which covers 100% of the planet. No phone signal needed. 1 press on the SOS button and emergency services are activated.
£15 per month for access to the iridium network 😬 expensive but worth it I guess if anything happened. Watched a review of it on UA-cam. A walker who had it stumbled upon a rock climber who had broken his leg. No phone signal. He pressed the SOS button on the inreach. Helicopter arrived in 20 mins!!
Did this one today. Not the best idea after the amount of rain, over half of it was bog so very tough going but the scenery especially in the last 3rd thou was stunning so every cloud n all. Going to save it to go again in better conditions.
Yes mate. Just wanna say thanks for giving me the inspiration to get involved with this incredible sport. I bought my first full suspension a week or so ago and went on my first lengthy cross country ride with it today, literally still buzzing from it. What today made me realise was this sport isn't easy at all and takes a decent amount of fitness - it's easy to watch your videos and think theres nothing to it but when you actually ride a trail, do a few climbs and descents you really get to understand how tough and dangerous it can be. I'm defo looking forward to getting more involved, going on more rides, improving my skills and working on my bike. Thanks again, please keep the videos coming, cheers mate.
Great message mate. I’m thrilled that you’ve been inspired by my videos and got into this amazing sport of mountain biking. Get out and ride as often as you can. And before you know it. You will be bike fit and enjoying it even more.
Great video as always Andy, stunning views of the Yorkshire countryside too, it’s surprising how even on a relatively small country as ours that there are areas of wilderness like on the moors and you’ve shown it at it’s best as ever mate 👍
Trail-Finder I’d really love to go to and try some of those rides up in North Yorkshire but I’ve only got a bike carrier on my car, I wish I had somewhere to keep a van like yours but there’s no room on our road, I’ll just have to keep finding trails in the Peak District, I did a good one yesterday, brown knoll and chapel gate which I found on OSMaps 😉
Cracking scenery, probably one of the most stunning you have been on for a while Andy. Crazy that temperature and elevation to be riding. Glad you did :)
This is a brilliant area to ride, I've been here a ton of times. Even the road ride up to Tan Hill isn't too bad either, the Penine way return gets really boggy in the wet. Great on a lovely sunny day though exploring all the old mining tracks.
keep these routes coming. another one for my garmin thank you. doing ladybower tomorrow but turning right at the junction, doing the beast section. did it potato alley way last week .your routes are awesome. my fav so far was coniston one.
Hi Neil. I’ve got the beast planned for next time I visit the peaks. Yeah coniston was amazing. It’s my favourite part of the lakes. Many happy memories there
I recently went to Malham Cove, and it was spectacular. Not the first I've been but this time I went to the very top. I did notice a few steep roads that might be worth riding one time. Btw great quality video!
Hi Andy, hubby and I enjoy your videos as we live fairly local and done some of these rides. Hubby would be interested in riding with you if you are ever stuck for company as he prefers the longer distance xcountry trails.
Cracking video I think I'm going to do this ride on Sunday I rode upto tan Hill last weekend its only just behind where I live Looks a good loop though plenty of tracks to spin the legs on. The inreach is a good idea, I bet you could spend 15 a month on chocolate or beer 🤣 but that won't save your life 😉 I might invest in one myself as I do a bit alone riding in the middle of nowhere here. Thanks James
I definitely spent £15 on McDonald’s a week that I could do with cutting down on 😂 think it be nice piece of mind having it. Strava beacon is good. But my mum or girlfriend would have to do all the work in getting the help I might need. With the in reach I just press a button.
@@TrailFinder I've not had a McDonald's for about a year luckily they make me feel ill.... But chocolate I've weakness for especially a white chocolat kit kat chunky 😍 Like you say its peace of mind, you can get on and enjoy your ride plus your gf and mum can relax knowing that every notification isn't the one they don't wont to receive.... So the moral here is cut the junk food and save a life 🤔 😂😂
Wow.. looks like an amazing ride. Will definitely have todo this one... although may have to look at other places to park, not sure if I fancy leaving my van in such a remote location
You could start at the tan hill pub it’s self. Would be a nice thought throughout the ride knowing that you can have a nice pint and meal when you finish the ride
Trail-Finder ah yeah good point, look forward to this one. We did the Macclesfield loop the other week following your Trailforks link and was a really good ride. Good work on the videos👍
Looks a great route mate. You mention the in reach in the video, personally, I'd recommend a PLB such as the ResQlink or a Mcmurdo, I've nothing against Garmin (I use a Fenix 5 & the 120+. The problem with the in reach & most other subscription based devices is they go through a 3rd party before MRT/ SARS & there have been mistakes made locating people. A PLB goes straight to the rescue service plus you pay NO subscription, the only difference is subscription devices allow texting, which isn't necessary if you just need help, pull the antenna, press sos & job done.
Hi Steven. Thanks for the recommendation. I will look into the PLB. it sounds right up my street. I’m not bothered about keeping in touch with loved ones while out in the wilderness. I just want to be rescued if I have a bad crash. Watched loads of vids on the inreach and I’m not keen to be honest. Cheers bud 😁
@@TrailFinder no problem, I work in outdoor education & a lot of instructors I know use them over the subscription type & as they are dedicated only to SOS much less can go wrong, plus it means your only shelling out cash once. They are definitely a good investment 🙂
😂😂Can I ask what you like about the videos with you not been a biker. I’d be interested to know? Oh and your seriously missing out on so much fun with not having one
The places you visit are great your commentary on the ride and scenery is brilliant and it's all really interesting. Iam interested in the MTB side of it as well . I haven't ridden a bike for year's (I'm 51 now) but am thinking about getting one.
@@TrailFinder How random! Well yeah, let's get it setup 😂 I'm pretty much a newb though and haven't progressed/justified emptying my account to a good full sus yet so I'm not sure how appealing that is 😂😬
Awesome video as always dude! You mentioned the satellite app ...sounds a great idea, especially when out on the remote hills like you ride. Ive got the what3words app. Maybe worth looking at if you haven't already. Keep the videos coming!
Thanks Aaron. It’s not an app. Best way to describe it is it’s a satellite phone that you can text on. If you google Garmin inreach mini. You will see what I mean. No phone signal needed. Works on 100% of the planet using the iridium satellite network. Great piece of mind
@@TrailFinder Cheers man. Ill check it out. I dont like to say it, but getting older (40 last year) has made me more cautious when out riding, if you know what i mean. Still plenty of trails to be had tho yeah!
I know exactly what you mean bud. I’m now 45 and the reward is starting to be not worth the risk. But trying not to turn into to much of a p***y at the same time! 😂😂
Your vids just get better. I've been thinking of doing this but where you went NE down William Gill to the road I was wanting to continue WNW along the "bridleway" direct to Tan Hill. That was actually the route I had planned. To take me straight to tan hill. But as you said it looks very vague. And after my little crash I thought I’d take the easy option and compose my self on the road. Ha ha. Great message mate. You will have to give me a lesson on how to fall with style 😂😂

Another good ride Andy, nice to see even the pros have a tumble now and again 😉
I’m far from a pro lee but thanks 😂😂. It was a nice soft landing though.
