This is a cheap pine spindle that you may be able to find at your local Lowe's, Home Depot, or if you can not find a match, take the pieces to a wood working shop and they can duplicate it. I did not want to put that kind of time or money into this project.
Forewarning, I am NOT trying to be negative but this is not the way to do it. I'm a contractor and love watching these videos but this is a dangerous way to fix. It is strictly cosmetic and if someone leans against it (like a child) they will fall right through it. You should remove the post and insert a dowel, glue and reconnect the two ends. I love the rest of your videos.
Oak is a much denser and stronger wood, rarely breaks, but when it does, this will work just fine. I use Minwax wood filler that is already tinted, sand it down, then clear coat it.
I have that exact handrail do you know where I can find one of those spindles?

No doubt the best way would be to replace the spindle.

What tipped you off, the hat?
Thank you. Give the name of the mixture & the name of that thing you use to keep it in place. Thanks
Hi Tam, get the 5 minute epoxy and either a c clamp or a cabinet clamp.
Tightbond 2 will hold it together just fine.
Yes, wood glue will work just fine. Thanks for watching
Can you repair a broken oak spindle with this method?
