I loved TXL SO MUCH
Think my first visit to Tegel was around 1970 when it was in the French Sector of Berlin. I remember seeing some Convair 880s there. Later in 1980 when in the Royal Air Force I got a trip in the Control tower. Fond memories of this great airport. Thanks for sharing!!!
Mein lieber Flughafen Tegel. Ich bin sehr traurig. Ich verbrachte als kleiner Junge viele Wochenenden auf deiner Aussichtsterrasse...und freute mich an dem tollen Sound der damaligen Pan Am Boeing 727 und diversen anderen Flugzeugen...Deine Architektur ist etwas ganz Besonderes... Die vielen Sechsecke und Dreiecke... und immer wieder die Freude, wenn bei Dir der Urlaub in den Süden begann... Nun musst Du gehen 💔 und wurdest geopfert wegen der Kurzsichtigkeit einiger Menschen... Du warst mein Flughafen.
Sehr berührend und traurig, wir werden uns für den Rest unseres Lebens an dich erinnern. Tschüss Tegel !!!
Noch vor 14 Tagen habe ich mir ein sehr schönes "TXL"- Bild von der Front-Ansicht (Zufahrtsstraße) mit Tower ausgesucht und mir dies in 2D in einem kleinen Glaswürfel eingravieren lassen. Somit habe ich mir selbst ein sehr schönes und individuelles Andenken an TXL erworben.
Danke für dieses Zeitdokument. Ich werde TXL sehr vermissen. Ich bleibe dabei, man hätte TXL als City Airport neben BER weiter betreiben sollen... BER ist zu weit draußen...

Stimme dir zwar zu, aber schau mal nach Frankfurt, München, etc. Da sind überall die Flughäfen aufs Land und aus der Stadt gewandert.

Das war sehr emotional. Ich bin mit der letzten Maschine nach Frankfurt wieder weggeflogen. Der Tag bleibt mir noch lange in Erinnerung
I was really hoping to be able to be in Berlin for all this. Thanks to the stupid pandemic I am stuck in the US. I remember when TXL opened. Barely, but i.was sad when Tempelhof closed.
Altough I live in Germany (Düsseldorf) I wasn,t able too to visit this surely very great and emotional "TXL-Closure" event. But I,ve heard someday in August 2021 again there will planned a "Day of the opened Door" at- and inside TXL,s most famous Terminal A. On this day/weekend you can enjoy some historic pictures from the looong TXL-Airport history Surely. Perhaps there will be "Guided-Tours" too. I will be there. Flying with Eurowings from DUS to BER and then with the local train/bus to TXL. Then I can see both. The old TXL-facilities and the new BER-Willy-Brandt Airport.

I just remembered that there is an abandoned Boeing 707 at the corner of the airfield. I hope it's donated to a museum.
Yes. This Boeing 707 was a former "EL AL" jet and then even was famous for a spectular kidnapping. During a so called "parabel" flight the Crew was able to knocked the terrorists out.

Yes, that's what the Morgenpost newspaper wrote as well. They had a picture of the AF captain, too.
Yes but that’s a special flight. This EW was the last scheduled flight out of TXL...
WOOW!! SUPER aufgezeichnet, trotz der "nächtlichen" Abflugzeit in TXL.Ist dies der "EW" Flug gewesen, welcher anschließend BER gelandet ist? Wahnsinniges tolles Triebwerksgeräusch beim "Take-Off". Wie Musik in meinen Ohren.
At least a hospital will not be built on the runways as in Istanbul Ataturk Airport. U re lucky, in here we did not only lose Atatürk airport runways, we lost our memories too

Ja, not the smartest construction, but i actually liked the way it was set up. Just too small, but not really that bad.
