- How do we know if we are ready to begin a relationship with the opposite sex? What does the Bible say about relationships? In this video, Paul Washer teaches on the Scriptural requirements placed upon Christians who desire to begin a relationship with the opposite sex. However, simply following principles is not enough. Ultimately, everything we do must be driven by a desire for God and His glory in our lives and those we enter into a relationship with.
I seem to have won a woman over because my dating profile said that I listen to Paul Washer! May the Lord bless his no punches pulled preaching!

what happened with her?
The first time I listened to this biblical teaching, its stay in my mind but here I am listening to this again cause it doesn't matter if I understand it correctly, the acid test is am I going to I apply this instructions if ever someday I'm in this situation?
So much wisdom to learn from this man and after hearing them and not doing it is just stupidity. Thanks much sir Paul Washer. Truly, The light of the Lord Jesus Christ shines on you. I've tasted the consequences of my stubbornness in the past and I will teach this biblical truth to my son as well, better him not to repeat my history.

I was introduced to a friend of my sister’s who’s a Christian. Which I’ve known about her since high school ( I’m 26 now) and this was the first time listening to the way she thinks. and I fell in love with her way of thinking and her personality(she’s so hilarious at times) when I went home I saw a video by john MCauthor and I want to provide and protect and love this girl. I don’t even know her that well though which is crazy. 2 years ago my sister told me to make a list of the physical appearance of how I want my wife to look like so when I met her I would know what I’m looking for. all the physical things I put on the list she has !!!
This comment might be a little bit late but brother, let us focus that Paul Washer is preaching the biblical principles here as a guide for preparation for marriage or adult relationships. You might write the lists of physical preferences in a woman but it's not the most important but only what the Bible says about biblical womanhood / what you should be looking for in a woman.

@@servantjen I understand where you're coming from, but the way you said it borders very close to a misconception that, I think, really hurts young people who want to please God, and that is the _"You shouldn't care what she looks like!"_ being twisted into a _"Screw what you like, I'm God and your opinions/wants/desires/attractions don't matter!"_ sort of mindset; what sort of God would it be that would say _"Ha! You like curvy women, so I'm giving you a flat one!"_ and _"You're imaginative and eager to have a wife you can please with foreplay… ha! I'm giving you one that's just going to lie there like a dead fish!"_?
Such notions are *entirely* outside the character of God [ref Pv 5:19; all of Song of Solomon], and yet there is a streak of thought that is common in some circles which is, essentially, if it's good/pleasurable then it's not God's will. (Or, conversely, if it doesn't hurt it's not God's will.)
So, while I get where you're coming from -that virtue is more important than looks- which is true, I beg you to have a little more compassion and mercy on the young.
@@OneWingedShark I am married now, and I saw that God gave me the biblical man who is totally opposite of my prayers, some of the characteristics are there and other preferences are gifts like hair, body build etc. But I saw that because I FOLLOWED AND GAVE UP EVERYTHING for Christ, He gave me the best man I could ever have as my earthy head after God. god gave me a package, even those I forgot to pray about. God knows your desires, but He will give you what is best, and according to His will (that you may not accept and understand)
Mu husband is a pastor/evangelist, and now we glorify God in a rural area.
So study the Bible and you will see that character of God, and you will see how He is a loving Father (He sees the heart, not appearance -1 Samuel 16:7)
@@servantjen I mean yes, God does look at the heart… but you're missing my point, which was that it's not right to shame a young man for having physical qualities he likes as if looks do not matter at all. (I'm not saying they're the only thing, or the best thing.)
As for "give up everything to God"… I'm not sure that's the best advice to give; for decades I'd said _"If God wants me to get married, he's going to have to drop my wife in my lap"_ … and now I'm a 40+ y/o "kissless virgin" and I've found myself asking _"Is there anybody for me?"_ - while I'm sure there is, and think I've heard God confirm it, my empty bed says _"no"_ every night.
And, of course, reading what I wrote did you jump to _"you're not putting yourself out there!"_ or _"you're not trusting God!"_ ?
Because *THAT* is the no-win situation young men are in: if they pursue, they're wrong; if they don't pursue, they're wrong.
That is why I said a little compassion and mercy ought to be extended to them.
