A few things I've seen throughout the comments: Overall Voice quality: Speaking with perfect clarity requires a lot of focus from me, and for long audio work, that focus can diminish over time. No excuses, but I wanted this video out before GFL2 came out, so I was already past my deadline and I may have decided to do less retakes than I should to get it out. I'll take more time on the next videos to ensure my enunciation is more on point. Visual Aid & Subtitles: Full transparency, I didn't really use visual aid because of my self-imposed deadline. I'll absolutely be adding this to the next videos. As for subtitles, I implemented them in the past, but doing it manually is extremely time-consuming, and the programs I used in the past always spiral out of control for long videos and required me to do manual edits anyway. So I can't say I will do subtitles. Instead, I'm hoping a stronger focus on high voice quality will suffice. When is Part 2?: From this point forward, the filler content in the story starts to be close to non-existent. But as a result, the plot is A LOT more beefy, and every event basically has the same level of detail as Operation Singularity. As a result, it's much more difficult to know what details to remove and what to highlight for a summary. So right now, I'm reviewing the story and outlining what should be in the summary or not. I'm hoping to have it done before January hits, but this is the holiday season and I have other obligations (like paying my rent). Again, thank you for all the support. I'm glad it's helping all of you that wanted to learn more about GFL1.

GFL and Arknights have such insane lore and world building, that it feels like becoming a historian going in depth and learning about it with how much content there is lol. For GFL in particular with it being such an old series and not as mainstream, it’s alot harder to find recent and high quality covering of it. Thank you videos like this are awesome, as this world Mica Team created is insane and more ppl should get to know it’s story.
funnily enough this franchise is connected by people who made it. here AK & GFL have something in common, super high tech unknown civilization, Collapse fluid and Originium, tacticool, both collab witih ubisoft franchise, early design of GFL commander look like doctor from arknight, heavy emphasis on politic and depresing story.
Who would've guessed that Firearms and Weapons could have such a deep, emotional, and thrilling stories. As a Military Enthusiast, I'm heavily captivated by it

As someone who’s really into both military history and video games, I just want to say thank you for all the effort you’ve put into this. The way you broke everything down and made the story and lore so easy to understand is incredible, it usually takes forever to get into something this detailed, but you managed to make it click for me in less than a day. Played GFL1 for years now and seeing it ending soon makes me cry a bit. The amount of suffering, despair, and tragedy that our SKK went through in his tenure as the Commander of G&K is a lot, I wonder how the ending will be and how it will connect to GFL2 and what the aftermath will be. Can't wait for it.
And the best of GFL1 ending is that the devs decided to not close in the next years the server to access to GFL 1, they will end the main story, but still making events in the game... Very cool from them!!!
Thanks for the great refresher! Having spent the time to read the entire lore for gfl1 so far but also having played the entirety of RCCB and unlocked all the docs from it too, the universe is so complex that my memory completely forgot some of these chapters lol. Was funny seeing the amount of cuts you made with the story to retell it as a summary. Can't wait for chapter 15 and some final events to wrap it all up and see how they will cook up gfl2 storyline :D
I'm glad a lore enjoyer called out how much I cut out lol. You have no idea how tough a decision it was to cut so much stuff, especially all of Squad 404's solo events. The next event in GFL1 should be real spicy. Can't wait for it to get translated.
ive been BEGGING for someone to make this kind of content for YEARS as the closest thing we had was just a yt playlist of all the dialogue and adding it all together it was a measly 98 hours.... dont get me wrong i LOVE longform content about lore but 98 hours of just me watching a video reading the in game dialogue was not what i was wanting, having it interpreted and explained is more what i was after so PLEASE continue this series as youd be really the first to kinda do it in this style
There used to be a Chinese player who did really good story summaries but the translated versions only cover up until around Continuance Turbulence and Chap 11. Some channel called Yakoto has the videos on youtube with English captions.
@ admittedly it’s been a bit since i last checked for any such content but maybe i missed this, sad it’s not up to current lore, felt like the only way to get the story was to play the game and sadly ive just lost my drive to go thru the grind over the years, but thanks for telling me about other sources of summarization
@@MaxKouto i swear i linked the playlist ion a reply earlier today i wonder if it was auto-deleted for having a link, but if you search "girls frontline shoul story" you should see a 55 video playlist at the top, thats the one, its just screen capture of all the in game dialogue which if thats how youd like to consume the story absolutely go for it as youd get the entire story for every chapter/major event thats included in the pl, theres even the dialogue for the collab events and night missions

Honestly, thank you so much for this video. I’ve been playing since 2019, and have fallen in love with this game’s universe and stories. My understanding of the time line is all over the place due to initially ignoring the story, jumping around between events, and the incredibly long time between completing story missions (still on chapter 11). So again, thank you from sparing me from having to do a Wiki “Deep Dive” and making this comprehensive video.
@@admiralfang8714 I've read close to all the lore so far (*cough Neural Cloud) and haven't touched the game in a while to do the events. I just either watch all the dialogue from shoul or quickly read up on everything from a lore doc since they are just too time consuming to finish on my own for me lol.
If someone asked how long GFL campaign can be (just story from the game not outside source) it took me 4+ months to re-read the story (i'm a slow reader) from chapter 0 to Fixed Point, so i cannot thank this man enough for making this video, also it's hard explaining this game without sounding like "paranoid schizophrenic mental asylum patient" so then again a huge thanks to this man. THANK YOU, I was waiting for someone to bite the bullet (gun pun absolutely intended) and make this. I had tried to get into GFL1 a couple years back but it had been around for so long already that by then the story and number of mechanics were just too much at such a busy time in my life. The final nail in the coffin was that base assault(?) where you built up points with other players to get rewards.
This lore is nostalgic for me. Thanks for taking the time and telling me the story of the game I love so much again. I remember why I loved this game now.

Great work on summarizing the plot of Girls Frontline 1. However, you did miss one important part in the story during M4's coma..... Spoilers: That M4 has flashbacks as a child refugee which strongly suggest M4 was once human and explains why she acts very differently from other T-Dolls or as one character from the Girls Frontline anthology manga describe M4: "You behave like a human pretending to be a T-Doll rather than a T-Doll pretending to be a human."

Oh gosh, the lore really was THAT crazy... Mostly skipped the story back in the days for minmaxing grinding, but now finally can get caught up to that thanks to this video. Waiting for the next part!

Not all heros wear capes. Just from the GFL2 story alone I can tell this is gonna be on the same tier as PGR in terms of od lvls of depredge...i like it tho. I actually like all the characters so far with no exceptions. Even the NPCs are great. groza is suss tho...there no way she's just that...perfect lol...something's a foot with that woman for sure😂. Good video tho man and don't stress about presentation too muxh...the main goal is to make the story more digestible to new players or even returning ones and ur doing that greatly so far. Keep it up 👍.
You are an absolute champion, thank you so much for this kind of content. Most gacha games aside from those that are mainstream, never get story summary coverage. I did play GFL1, but that was years ago and I just couldn’t keep up with how much grinding it was. This is super helpful, especially since the adapted anime did a poor job of conveying the story as a grand whole.

thank you for making this after i start playing the second one, i was heavily interested in what happen in the first one, i tried finding ppl who does summary but i didn't want to spend time listening to chapter to chapter summary, and needed a basically abridge summary like what max0r does, easier to understand and i read more indepth after i hear the abridge one
I'm a very casual shikikan that's been following the story ever since I stumbled across the game in Taiwan. Love the story and this will be a great refresher to anything I missed back in GFL1. It really is tough trying to comprehensively follow the story without missing some if not a lot of story relevant events. In short, many thanks.
Lmao... 1 hour explanation and we only finished Continuum Turbuleum XD Bravo amazing job. One thing I might add is that it might be good to add short 20 seconds PV between each events. As the story flow non-stop, probably those PVs can act as intermission between events to make the video little bit slower in pacing. My shipping brain is always going for Continuum Turbuleum being the event when Kalina and Ange started to fall for Shikikan. Shikikan is so cool in that event. Also Soppo and HK416 took the main stage. And I think many GFL1 shikikan also agree that GFL1 story basically begin in Singularity event. That is where the plot started to kick off.

If I had to explain the forcefield situation with AR-15 I’d presume that in universe there is various models of forcefield emitters, as in different makes and gen types which can withstand different amounts of damage/pressures from explosives and arms fire Purely head cannon type stuff but seems logical as nothing is created equally without taking into account manufacturing faults and the like Anyhoo this is a great vid, I used to play GFL back when it first released and it’s been ages since when I dropped it for whatever reason I had at the time It’s just nice to get caught up on events as I’m play GFL2 Also kinda saddening as a chunk of characters that I liked back when I played are probably dead (Should probably not think about that too much) So yeah great video and I look forward to part 2 Side note: Do are you playing GFL2? Thanks for the recap. Everything makes sense now as to why GFL memes are symbiotic to Call of Duty that spawned hundreds of mods. Especially when M4A1 got her upgrade. Literally Captain Price.
I think this was about as far as I got with the story when playing. I'm glad for the recap - at the time, a lot of this stuff (nearly all of it?) was part of limited events which eventually got added permanently as the "X.5" chapters, so it was hard to keep track of the information in it as well as when it happened relative to the main story chapters. One thing that would be handy is a reference for which chapter/event each thing happens in, either just as a timestamp or written on the video.
Really wanted to play gf1 but i had so much trouble getting through the combat and leveling up the characters was a grindfest Starting to play gf2 and this is a godsend of a video

Honestly, thank you so much for this video. I’ve been playing since 2019, and have fallen in love with this game’s universe and stories. My understanding of the time line is all over the place due to initially ignoring the story, jumping around between events, and the incredibly long time between completing story missions (still on chapter 11). So again, thank you from sparing me from having to do a Wiki “Deep Dive” and making this comprehensive video.

I just either watch all the dialogue from shoul or quickly read up on everything from a lore doc since they are just too time consuming to finish on my own for me lol.

If someone asked how long GFL campaign can be (just story from the game not outside source) it took me 4+ months to re-read the story (i'm a slow reader) from chapter 0 to Fixed Point, so i cannot thank this man enough for making this video, also it's hard explaining this game without sounding like "paranoid schizophrenic mental asylum patient" so then again a huge thanks to this man.

THANK YOU, I was waiting for someone to bite the bullet (gun pun absolutely intended) and make this. I had tried to get into GFL1 a couple years back but it had been around for so long already that by then the story and number of mechanics were just too much at such a busy time in my life. The final nail in the coffin was that base assault(?) where you built up points with other players to get rewards.
This lore is nostalgic for me. Thanks for taking the time and telling me the story of the game I love so much again. I remember why I loved this game now.

Thanks for the video, started GFL2 and wanted to know the lore. The way you summarized it made me way more invested in the story than I thought I would be from just a summary, especially the M4A1 parts.

That M4 has flashbacks as a child refugee which strongly suggest M4 was once human and explains why she acts very differently from other T-Dolls or as one character from the Girls Frontline anthology manga describe M4: "You behave like a human pretending to be a T-Doll rather than a T-Doll pretending to be a human."

Just from the GFL2 story alone I can tell this is gonna be on the same tier as PGR in terms of od lvls of depredge...i like it tho. I actually like all the characters so far with no exceptions. Even the NPCs are great.

You are an absolute champion, thank you so much for this kind of content. Most gacha games aside from those that are mainstream, never get story summary coverage. I did play GFL1, but that was years ago and I just couldn’t keep up with how much grinding it was. This is super helpful, especially since the adapted anime did a poor job of conveying the story as a grand whole.

It's been a long time since I've last played GFL, this is a great refresher on one of the best storytelling in gacha I've had the pleasure to read.
I'm a very casual shikikan that's been following the story ever since I stumbled across the game in Taiwan. Love the story and this will be a great refresher to anything I missed back in GFL1. It really is tough trying to comprehensively follow the story without missing some if not a lot of story relevant events.

Bravo amazing job. One thing I might add is that it might be good to add short 20 seconds PV between each events. As the story flow non-stop, probably those PVs can act as intermission between events to make the video little bit slower in pacing.
My shipping brain is always going for Continuum Turbuleum being the event when Kalina and Ange started to fall for Shikikan. Shikikan is so cool in that event. Also Soppo and HK416 took the main stage.
And I think many GFL1 shikikan also agree that GFL1 story basically begin in Singularity event. That is where the plot started to kick off.

I’d presume that in universe there is various models of forcefield emitters, as in different makes and gen types which can withstand different amounts of damage/pressures from explosives and arms fire
Purely head cannon type stuff but seems logical as nothing is created equally without taking into account manufacturing faults and the like

I think this was about as far as I got with the story when playing. I'm glad for the recap - at the time, a lot of this stuff (nearly all of it?) was part of limited events which eventually got added permanently as the "X.5" chapters, so it was hard to keep track of the information in it as well as when it happened relative to the main story chapters.
One thing that would be handy is a reference for which chapter/event each thing happens in, either just as a timestamp or written on the video.
Really wanted to play gf1 but i had so much trouble getting through the combat and leveling up the characters was a grindfest
