Hi! Found many of my Colonial Ancestors from this state, from this city. How I found this video, is that one of the godparents to an ancestor in 1713, was a Spaniard who was part, or a "vecino" of the Mina de Mellado. Thank you for sharing your journeys! : )

The Mina de Rayas in Guanajuato City, Mexico, is a historic silver mine that played a crucial role in the region's mining history. Established during the colonial period, the mine's rich deposits of silver contributed significantly to the Spanish Crown's wealth. It became one of the most productive silver mines in the world, shaping Guanajuato's identity as a mining hub. The mine's labyrinthine tunnels, innovative engineering, and sheer scale are an impressive testament to the ingenuity and labor of the miners who worked there. Today, the Mina de Rayas stands as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a symbol of Guanajuato's historical importance in the global silver industry. Thanks, Ben Troy Outdoors!

Thanks for that information! I was really amazed at the history surrounding Guanajuato, a lot of people that visit the city tend to stay in the Centro and don't really explore what else it has to offer!
