Today, my English teacher sang this song with a guitar to us in class, and it made me cry. I was in an awful situation in my other class, I was bullied every single day and it came to a point where I didn't really feel like I needed to live longer, as I was not important to anyone. But I've recently gone to another class and everyone is very nice. All the people in this class sang the loudest they could, without caring about whether you sing nice or bad. Seeing everyone united singing to this and me being a part of it, finally being important to something, made me very happy.
"Reach" and "One Moment In Time" are the greatest Olympic songs ever! They both encapsulate the spirit of hard work, self belief, perseverance and ultimately triumph that the Olympics are all about.
@@kriszed5329 No it's not. "Reach" and "One Moment in Time" are the greatest for the reasons I said. "Barcelona" is a great stand alone song or tourism advertisement, but it says nothing about the Olympic spirit.

"Reach" was one of two official songs of the 1996 Summer Olympics held in Atlanta in 1996. It was written by Gloria Estefan and Diane Warren. The lyrics is about overcoming troubled times and coming back stronger than ever. "Reach" was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance at the ceremony in 1997 but lost out to Toni Braxton's "Un-Break My Heart" also written by Diane Warren. SONG HISTORY: "It's about starting over and getting up and moving, so yeah, I can identify very strongly with it. We really wanted the song to be something that everyone could identify with. It was done as a folk song and then, because of the grandness of the Olympics, we threw on the big drums. But it is a song for every culture." -Gloria Estefan talking about the song
This song capped a period that culminated in personal triumph for the singer, having survived, and recovered from serious back injuries sustained in a bus accident in 1990. It's a great Olympic song, but her own very human victory gives her a real edge here; it's not just an ideal she sings about - she lived it.
First off, I wanna dedicate this song to my new found financial freedom and peace, therefore I just paid off my house in full earlier this year at the age of 40 years old, and I'm now rejoicing by way of laughing & crying sweet tears of joy. I was 14 years old in 1996. I used to stand by the TV every night before the Olympics, waiting for this MTV to appear and I had a crush on the Spanish runner Fermin Cacho, the guy at 3:26.
GREAT olympic song by GLORIA! It warmth and sultry. Love the seamless compilation of the sports here, visualizations, the costume, set and colors are brilliant.
Every four years since 2008, I listen to this song on January 1st of the Olympic year, as a reminder that in summer we could witness the best athletes from all over the world reaching their goals at The Olympic Games. 💙💛🖤💚❤ Greetings from Toluca, Mexico 😃🇲🇽
I was a child during the games. But this song had so much impact on me. Gloria Estefan nailed it. You don't have too many great singers linked to great events in History. But she is definitely one of those. I lost my older brother with the covid vaccin. Ndeh Edson N. Tabien. A Basketball Champ & DJ [cmr/ru]. He loved this song even more than I do.
Twenty years ago, this was the song and videoclip that turned an apathetic sixteen year old into one who would watch huge chunks of every olympic games. It manages to capture perfectly the spirit and dream of olympic competition.
Heard this song sung Beautifully by a local woman today in Trinidad and Tobago. Had to play Gloria Estefan's Reach Higher as it's resonating with my spirit and Determination as I have reached yesterday and now set a continuation on the horizon for today and tomorrow.
If ever the Olympics hold Olympics category for the all time Olympics theme song gold medal then this song will win by a country mile. Will never ever forget Atlanta 1996 and this song played a huge part in that ❣❣
One of the best times in my life was when I was introduced to this melody by a beautiful human being named Ms Randolph. I love you and thank you for everything 🙏
For all of us this song is a reminder of the dreams which seem unattainable...but we will Reach and when the moment is right we would make those unforgettable memories ❤️❤️

Some dreams live on in time forever Those dreams, you want with all your heart And I'll do whatever it takes Follow through with the promise I made Put it all on the line What I hoped for at last would be mine If I could reach, higher Just for one moment touch the sky From that one moment in my life I'm gonna be stronger Know that I've tried my very best I'd put my spirit to the test If I could reach Some days are meant to be remembered Those days we rise above the stars So I'll go the distance this time Seeing more the higher I climb That the more I believe All the more that this dream will be mine If I could reach, higher Just for one moment touch the sky From that one moment in my life I'm gonna be stronger Know that I've tried my very best I'd put my spirit to the test If I could reach If I could reach, higher Just for one moment touch the sky That one moment in my life I'm gonna be (be stronger) so much stronger yes I am I'd put my spirit to the test If I could reach higher If I could, If I could If I could reach Reach, I'd reach, I'd reach I'd reach' I'd reach so much higher (Be stronger, know that I've tried my best)

My dance company performed a dance to this. While I was dancing I began to cry along with the rest of my company and the audience. The song touched them and the dance. What always gets me is the lyrics of the song. Boy does it give me chills.
When she did this song for the 1996 summer Olympics, I was 13 and had just started the 8th grade. It was an amazing song then and still is! ❤💙💜I looked at recent pics of Gloria and she still looks fantastic!
Took me years to finally find this song. It was always on the TV when i was around 4 to 7 years old so i only remembered the acrobatics in the video and then one or two lines from the song. Im glad i found it now 😭❤️

Miss you mommy! this was played at your funeral where me and sissy sang this in tears.
+Emily Balcom I'm very sorry for your loss. I hope everythings gets better for you.
+Aric Mackenthun Thank you so so much
That's sweet and special Emily!! I just lost my mom as well, so sad, God be with them... William
So sad to read this. Hope everything's better for you now.
Aww ❤️
Bonita canción, Gloria una gran latina, bonito video con uno que otro matiz político. Viva Cuba, viva USA.
A MASTERPIECE! The BEST Song ever!
Every time the Olympics come around this song pops into my head. I hope they bring her back to sing this at the 2028 Games in Los Angeles.
Finally I found it... the best song of human History!
GREAT olympic song by GLORIA! It warmth and sultry. Love the seamless compilation of the sports here, visualizations, the costume, set and colors are brilliant.
I've always think she is simply one of best singers around. Her charisma and full-tonal voice is something to behold to and really pleasant to hear!
The lyrics and energizing rhythm instantly giving me goosebumps. Just perfect!
This song should be WAY more popular than it is. I love Gloria Estafan!
Every four years since 2008, I listen to this song on January 1st of the Olympic year, as a reminder that in summer we could witness the best athletes from all over the world reaching their goals at The Olympic Games.
💙💛🖤💚❤
Greetings from Toluca, Mexico 😃🇲🇽
I was a child during the games. But this song had so much impact on me. Gloria Estefan nailed it. You don't have too many great singers linked to great events in History. But she is definitely one of those. I lost my older brother with the covid vaccin. Ndeh Edson N. Tabien. A Basketball Champ & DJ [cmr/ru]. He loved this song even more than I do.
I want my kids to understand that never giving in is what matters. Stay true to yourself. Believe in yourself, and you can accomplish anything ✨️ 💯
Remember when she performed this song at the closing ceremonies for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Good stuff.
Nothing like the World Games is there Alex.
Twenty years later and still a great song, one of the best themes ever!
*best olimpic song all of time !*
I was looking for this comment so that I can agree with it 🏅💯
Well, there are two for me: this one and the theme from Barcelona '92 (Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballé) 😍😍😍
Yes.I think so.
@@tsukai7257 Yes, i think so too

This is my most fav of Gloria Etefan's songs. I just love this song!!!
Me too..I cant believe so little views
Twenty years ago, this was the song and videoclip that turned an apathetic sixteen year old into one who would watch huge chunks of every olympic games. It manages to capture perfectly the spirit and dream of olympic competition.
Heard this song sung Beautifully by a local woman today in Trinidad and Tobago. Had to play Gloria Estefan's Reach Higher as it's resonating with my spirit and Determination as I have reached yesterday and now set a continuation on the horizon for today and tomorrow.
One Moment In Time is a great song, but mostly it is for the winners. And this song is for everyone.
If ever the Olympics hold Olympics category for the all time Olympics theme song gold medal then this song will win by a country mile.
Will never ever forget Atlanta 1996 and this song played a huge part in that ❣❣
This song still gives me the chills since I was 10! 😍😍
The Best Olympic Song Ever
When I fall in my life, this song remains me to get up and fight!
One of the best times in my life was when I was introduced to this melody by a beautiful human being named Ms Randolph. I love you and thank you for everything 🙏
Gloria timeless been loving this lady from Miami sound machine days ❤❤❤❤❤❤
For all of us this song is a reminder of the dreams which seem unattainable...but we will Reach and when the moment is right we would make those unforgettable memories ❤️❤️
I dedicate this song to the Malaysian Contingent of Athletes to the Tokyo Olympics. All The Best and please bring home our 1st Olympic Gold Medal.
The words, the motivation and EVERYTHING about this song is excellent!!👌🏾🖤

Some dreams live on in time forever
Those dreams, you want with all your heart
And I'll do whatever it takes
Follow through with the promise I made
Put it all on the line
What I hoped for at last would be mine
If I could reach, higher
Just for one moment touch the sky
From that one moment in my life
I'm gonna be stronger
Know that I've tried my very best
I'd put my spirit to the test
If I could reach
Some days are meant to be remembered
Those days we rise above the stars
So I'll go the distance this time
Seeing more the higher I climb
That the more I believe
All the more that this dream will be mine
If I could reach, higher
Just for one moment touch the sky
From that one moment in my life
I'm gonna be stronger
Know that I've tried my very best
I'd put my spirit to the test
If I could reach
If I could reach, higher
Just for one moment touch the sky
That one moment in my life
I'm gonna be (be stronger) so much stronger yes I am
I'd put my spirit to the test
If I could reach higher
If I could, If I could
If I could reach
Reach, I'd reach, I'd reach
I'd reach' I'd reach so much higher
(Be stronger, know that I've tried my best)

They played this song at my flight attendant graduation at Northwest Airlines way back in 1998.
Never give up on your dreams no matter what happens ❤❤❤
This is such a beautiful song, I love it!I never get sick of it, Gloria's family must be so proud of her!
Such a great song by a great artist. I grew up listening to her music.
My dance company performed a dance to this. While I was dancing I began to cry along with the rest of my company and the audience. The song touched them and the dance. What always gets me is the lyrics of the song. Boy does it give me chills.
This is dedicated to my all mine senior class of 1998. SENIOR ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't know why, but this song makes me cry.

Im glad i found it now 😭❤️
So powerful. So poignant. So inspiring.
"That the more I believe, all the more that this dream will be mine.."
One of my favorites....so much love and respect to Gloria Estefan!
The music of my life, all the best moments I played this one.

I woke up in the middle of the night to come and listen to this song. Was a teen when it came out for the Olympics almost 25 years ago. Such a vibrant and moving song.
This song from 96 has such a power message that makes it beyond its time.
She wrote this song after her accident.
im still 10 years when i heard this song... and now im 35 years and still makes me happy heard this song
Creer en un mundo libre es lo importante, vivir, vencer y ver.
I go to school full time and every time I fell like I can't do it anymore I stop and listen to this song. My QUEEN.
