@@johnalexander4654 The way it was explained to me that helped me understand is that it’s like a person who is only interested in relationships that can benefit them in some way. They will “act” in the way they believe they’re supposed to in order to appear normal in society, but they are always finding ways to get what they want. They will be nice to people who can help them (family, friends, etc) and if you cannot help them then they have no need for you. Alex benefitted from all of his relationships, whether it gave him power, money, local “fame” and that’s why he spent so much time keeping up appearances.
It's chilling how the "little detective" ended up capturing evidence that would go on to help convict his murderer. I'm glad this jury saw right through his poor theatrics and found him guilty.
The fact that he was being so normal with his son and wife in the recorded videos right before. Putting up a tree with his son laughing in the background mere minutes before brutally murdering him just blows my mind.
Does that not tell you something? The "hive mind" about this trial illustrates just how far down the scale the intelligence level has fallen in the United States. The media manufactured a verdict and sold it to the public
It’s poetic justice that Paul’s last act on this earth was to record his dad’s voice on that Snapchat video. The “little detective” finally got the culprit. RIP.
Sadly, Stephen’s phone has gone missing, and other evidence, as well. Unless, someone admits to being there, I don’t think his case will find a truthful outcome. 😔

I believe this case has really drove home how one can appear a certain way, even to family and be someone completely different. We've all heard cases where the spouse is seen as quiet, kind, patient, caring, a good friend, a loving spouse and parent, then do something so horrific as to annihilate their loved ones. Ironic how Paul who was responsible for Mallory Beach's death, sealed Alex's fate with his cell phone video. Neither Paul nor Alex showed remorse for Mallory's death. The Murdaugh's lied, manipulated, blamed, and abused the power of their name yet again. Alex, immediately after Paul and Maggie lay shot to death yards away, tried to blame retaliation of the boat crash that killed Mallory. Disgusting. Now lets see justice for Stephen Smith's murder. Openly gay Stephen was not hit by a vehicle, he called Buster Murdaugh after his car broke down. Saddle up Buster, the empire has crumbled.
What proof is there that he called Buster Murdaugh? I haven’t seen any of that info….I know the uncle, also known as Buster, inserted himself in the case. I also know there were rumors that Stephen smith was connected to an “older man”. I always wondered if that was the older uncle Buster Murdaugh
@@basicallyno1722 No, the uncle who quickly inserted himself into the Stephen Smith case was Randy Murdaugh, who was a lawyer in the same law firm as his brother, Alex. I’m loving all of the comments and different perspectives on here. This has been the most talked about topic at our house for the last 6 weeks. Just feel a great sadness for all of the families. I read a quote somewhere that said sadness is the soul’s way of saying ‘this mattered’ 😢
To be murdered is one thing, but to be murdered by one of your own is a whole other level of cruelty and evil. I can only imagine the shock and terror each victim experienced right before he fired those weapons at them.😢
No one in South Carolina would tell this story in its full breadth. It can be a big scoop for you AFTER you fact-check, which should be easy enough if you have Becky Hill's book "Behind the Doors of Justice." It turns out not only Becky Hill and the jurors of the Alex Murdaugh case wanted "their 15 minutes" but they put their children, too, with them. In Becky "Boo" Hill's book page 191, you see a photo of Boo's daughter with this caption: Country music star, Dustin Lynch, and my "plus one" (daughter Aubrey) spent time together in NBC's The Today Show green room. TRANSLATION: At least Becky Hill AND HER DAUGHTER flew expense-free to New York with at least three jurors who voted guilty, each of which PRESUMABLY has a "plus one," too. So, at least 8 people had a luxury junket to New York paid for with the blood and tears of Paul, Maggie, and Alex Murdaugh. It gets even worse: At pages 59-60 of her book, Becky Hill writes: What I learned on our flight to New York City after the trial was that three close friends of his [meaning of a male juror who voted guilty] all chipped in and paid the financially strapped juror his regular salary. For all six weeks of the trial! Several thousand dollars. TRANSLATION: Thousands of dollars were being paid DIRECTLY from an outside source to a juror who voted guilty to enable him to stay on the jury. WHO ARE THOSE THREE CLOSE FRIENDS? Why was it important for them that THIS juror serve on the jury? Was that even their own money or were they funnelling it from an outside source? That is way, way, worse than anything Becky Hill admits to about her own misconduct.

Sound judge. And Alex’s claim to a drug addiction looks like a cover story. No one THAT heavy is a 20 year pill popper. Alcoholism is a twin addiction, & Murdaugh sure had permissive drink rules in his home.
Lindy loo I totally agree. I do not think he could possibly take that many pills and still go out and NOT ONE person noticed he was on opioids for 20 years. I think he tried to use that as a reason for his stealing all that money. I do think he took pills, but not to the extent that he wanted us to believe. They were also drinkers and taking high doses of opioids it would seem you would die.
It helps to hear this juror. Also when I saw the body cam footage of the police seeing how dark it was on the property. Nobody else was out there. The Dean of the college didn't confirm death threats. They didn't find any vehicles of get away cars, none of the friends confirmed death threats. He did it.

I kept coming back to this scene of the horror and terror Maggie and Paul must have experienced as they were executed one by one by Alex. The pain, the perplexedly, the horror on Paul's face as he saw his father with the gun. Maggie's thoughts as she ran to Paul of "I was right to be afraid", only to be cut down before reaching her baby. @@dorettamchugh2680 America is not even close to being the most free nation on earth. America has certain redeeming qualities. But this country has a litany of monumental problems as well. For one, millions of individuals don't even have access to healthcare unless they want to be legally bankrupted. The key principle of so called freedom in America is that individuals and corporations are "free" to screw over the citizenry to whatever degree they're capable of finagling. I don't consider that sort of "freedom" as particularly beneficial for the whole of society. It's certainly great for the corporatocracy though. Those that go on spouting this nonsense about American's being free are quite delusional indeed. Americans are free to live on the streets because the bastardized real estate and banking industries have made housing wholly unaffordable. Americans are free to die when they can't afford treatment for cancer and other terminal conditions. Americans are free to posses arms and strip away the freedom of others with that very tool. Americans are free to get royally scammed and ripped off by the thieving timeshare industry. Americans are free to get screwed by the insurance industry. Americans are free to get endlessly abused and even murdered bye our corrupt police force. America was built up on the freedom to exploit others for one's own self-interest. If that's the type of freedom you're referring to, then perhaps we are the freest nation on earth. It's no wonder that America is so extraordinarily toxic with greed having been so engrained into the American psyche. I'm not suggesting that America be turned into a commune or anything like that. But we've certainly been pushed up against the wall in the wrong direction.

The family and their attorney have recovered 7.8 million dollars from Alexs old law firm. They started a charity in Glorias name to bring good out her passing. They received double for their suffering and Alex received life
Have these jurors already forgotten Scotty David, the juror in the Ghislaine Maxwell case who almost caused a retrial because of his public statements after the trial?!!! Maxwell's defence is currently appealing to have the verdict thrown out because of that juror! What happens if one of these jurors inadvertently mentions that Murdaugh's cruelty to his vulnerable clients made it easier to imagine him being cruel to his family? That's cause for a retrial right there, & you can bet Murdaugh's defence team is watching these jurors very closely! All they need to hear is that the financial evidence contributed to more than just motive for the jurors & the whole trial is at risk. Jurors need to consider how much is at stake when they speak publicly. They certainly should consult a lawyer.
That evidence was instrumental to establish motive and character. There is a reason they have character witnesses. To explain the level of his stealing, betraying his vulnerable clients, and the pressures from the boat accident, and the fact of Maggie just about to find out, shows a powder keg about to go off. ( Not to mention the drug addiction he was so open about,; Paul and Maggie coming down on him for that. This jury, judge and attorneys spent a month hashing all this out. As far as I heard, the jury was very attentive. I am sure they do think through speaking publicly. Some of them may write some books on the experience. There has been criticism over the detail to which the financial crimes were explored , but it is reasonable to conclude that they were interconnected, all impacting the crime for which he stood accountable for. May God have mercy on all of us, especially those who have lost a loved one to violence, and to all those impacted by someone choosing to do evil. 🕯🕊
@@Raminakai Your very first sentence is the problem! It was uncertain whether the financial evidence would be admitted, exactly because it couldn't be admitted if it was used as CHARACTER evidence. The judge ultimately ruled the financial details would be admitted BUT ONLY WITH RELEVANCE AS TO MOTIVE. The jury was instructed repeatedly by the judge NOT to use the financial evidence to judge Murdaugh's character. So if they inadvertently did use that evidence to establish character, & then indadvertently say that on national tv...that's a problem.
@@nellym.6555 That's not true at all. The jury heard the evidence. They adjudicated him guilty. In my opinion there was ample evidence to find him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Alex Murdaugh is exactly where he belongs right now.

In Becky "Boo" Hill's book page 191, you see a photo of Boo's daughter with this caption:
Country music star, Dustin Lynch, and my "plus one" (daughter Aubrey) spent time together in NBC's The Today Show green room.
It gets even worse:
At pages 59-60 of her book, Becky Hill writes:
What I learned on our flight to New York City after the trial was that three close friends of his [meaning of a male juror who voted guilty] all chipped in and paid the financially strapped juror his regular salary.

This juror illustrates exactly that a jury of AM's peers could easily see through his acting. "I didn't think much of him." then... "there were no tears, I saw his eyes. I was that close". Finally, "If you really look at everything, it's all plain and clear". No fancy talk, no word salad. He just called it as it was and so did the rest of the jury.
Isnt it ironic that alex murdaugh would be found guilty by a man that looks identical to chris benoit???

And that's why we are the freest nation.

Great work by jury and Prosecutor Waters. In so many ways a very hard case to win or convince lay people.

Their DNA should have been on the golf cart should have been on the bottom of shoes should have been in the shower should have been on the water hose and they found none of that.
This jury had already found him guilty without hearing the evidence. Sad
True....Sad...
