    yeah....that's how hypertrophy works. no magick to it. Just some common sense.

      Well, the thing is that runners benefit from hypertrophy to a point. After that certain point, which is hard to define, muscle mass becomes a hindrance. Strength, however, will never be a hindrance. You can lift weights to develop strength without the hypertrophy.
