Sorin, I just looked up online for the operation of that ATORCH unit and found that the male usb C port on the top is actually an input. The usb C output is a female port on the lower right corner of the unit. You will need a usb C male to usb C male cable to connect to the laptop. Great job in diagnosing the issue with that laptop.
Every time I have to deal with something stupid at work, I tell myself that these stupid things are the reason I am making money. It helps me to manage my frustration levels.
That Atorch usb tester, the sticking out usb C plug is an input, you have to use a usb c to c cable on the usb c output into the laptop, and to power it, use a usb c laptop charger plugged into usb c input. You might need usb c input power turning round if it doesn't work at all. And pressing both buttons on the front together cycles through some additional options.
He can diagnose and repair electronics problems no one else can figure out, often without schematics or by improvising for unavailable parts. Look at how he figured out it was bad PL in like 5 seconds. The new power supply tool was too simplistic. Typical Genius.
That power tester you can also supply from the power supply. There’s a barrel jack there as well. Or, as others already mentioned, USB in, that’s how I use mine
I think you can repair the meter by teardown it and reinstall it again; i think it an old display issue like legacy calculator machines that happens when it drops the flixable connector needs some calibration.
What about Lenovo E580 “UCM-UCSI ACPI Device” error 43 (failed to start) with USB C data not working and USB C charging the laptop very slowly, slower than the computer is using battery power? Tried all the advice online and still the error comes and USB C charges very slowly?
hello everyone, does anyone know how to program this RTS5455 and if anyone has the Firmware? I have the same laptop with the same problem and changed the chip and now the laptop turns on but doesn't detect the charger and sure enough it won't charge. if i charge the battery externally the laptop works until the battery runs out. I couldn't find the data sheet for this chip, only something similar and it seems it needs firmware. Thank you all!
Salutari din Germania! Am aceeasi problema si am schimbat cipul dar nu am Firmware pentru el. Poti te rog sa ma ajuti sa comand de la acelasi vanzator? Probabil vine programat. Ar fii un mare ajutor! Multumesc mult!
Thank you, your videos are very educational, it's good to see that you can make mistakes too. Funny. When something doesn't work for me out of the box, I assume that I made a mistake and read the user manual. A few comments are interesting. poor design, because you have to use a separate cable for the connection? The USB male is not an output, but an input so that you can plug it into the charger? I think it's a bit big for that purpose. + if it's connected separately with a wire, then even if you rotate the tablet, laptop or whatever, you can still see the display properly. ++ it will be harder for you to damage the USB connector. The Fnirsi FBN58 is not completely 100% perfect, but it can be used. The Power-Z KM003C can be very good, but its price is almost 110 USD or 30 USD for the Atorch.
Atorch is pd control tester, you need power supply laptop with PD controller. So you can test laptop pd chip if it's working. Check PD controller. connection (CONNECT ONLY TO) 1.Connect the usb c output to the laptop. 2.Connect your Laptop power supply down and left to the usb c input. If you want to connect your bench power supply connect to the input/dc 5.5

Had same issue myself. The port is really input.
press both buttons at the same time for the menu

Well said 👍🏻
my pc is Lenovo E 490 and I stumbled upon the same problem thanks for posting it, it helped alot thanks gramps!

no idea why they didnt clearly mark it same as the other ports..
@@Nebbia_affaraccimiei I know, I went and looked how they used it on their website.
Thank you. I replaced the IC. You saved my laptop.
Lovely to hear you enjoyed a restive and enjoyable Easter Sorin!

Happy Easter, from Ploiești !
Thank you for showing us how it is working Atorch; very usefull!
Nice job. This was a good start to Monday
Nice job! Glad your Easter was pleasant. Mine was ok too.😊
the ec chip is under the keyboard for faster liquid damage 😂😂
LOL, they're doing an Apple, ie, they put the 50v backlight connector under a keyboard drain hole and it catches fire.
lmao too right
Window for the EC chip is for the liquid to get to it easy so void the warranty.
Happy Easter for the best teacher
Happy Easter, Sorin, in Serbia they say it's unlucky to work on a saint day (red letter).

Thank you sir ❤
Dear sir could you teach me why when we remove a chip and plug the 19v it creates shorted mosfets en if the mosfet was fine before?
Maybe the Fnirsi USB C meter display isn't cracked but not making good connection to the PCB inside? Looks like it's easy to take apart (screws).
YOU ARE A GENIUS SORIN 👍👍👍
Sorin after receiving a 50 pound tip: "We have PIZZAAAAA !"
LOL
Cracked my fnirsi to. I just replaced screen in my one
👍 Good job ❤❤
11:00 why you aren't replacing this crappy noPB solder with fresh one?
Why would he? unnecessary steps...
I recommend 100MHz T50N USB Dual-Channel Power Monitor
Thank you very much teacher 🧑🏫 🎉
I have here E580...voltage stuck on 20V but O.OmA...it looks like 5455 problem too.
I believe Fnirsi USB C meter can be repaired, probably broken some connection. You use it all the time but not gently.
Hi sorin , i would be very happy if you can publishe a book about computer motherboard repair for beginners
Sorin on the bottom of that power meter looks like there's type a and type c output ports
This chip heats up a lot, which leads to damage. It would have been better to add a thermal pad to duce the heat on top of it
Sorin I have this meter, it’s shitty but it works. There is another piece that attaches to it and then you have pd support out of it.
Hi, what is creating the low path resistance from some coils to ground around 4-6 Ohms?
Heh almost got myself that C1 it would probably happen to me first day... Ordered a FNB58 but you need cables for it.
My USB C tester also needs an additional USB C cable to work. Poor design but it works.
The best charger usb-c tester is Power-Z KM003C by far. By the way, isn't this integrated circuit programmable?
Good job
I think you can repair the meter by teardown it and reinstall it again; i think it an old display issue like legacy calculator machines that happens when it drops the flixable connector needs some calibration.
Good job mate
nice video, another lenovo fixed :), maybe that widows on the ec chip it's to destroy that chip if there where some water damage, who knows :P
Thanks

The screen flex cable looks like got deattached from that charger meter LCD Sorin... or use just via Bluetooth :)))
only a week from AE, it was very fast

Fnirsi C1 screen replacement, more content lol

Please use external cable to meter and laptop
Is it PD or PMU controller? I believe PD controller is in the charger not the laptop?
Sad to see your usb meter cracked lcd.
Let's do a crowdfunding!
Time to replace the screen
What happen with fnirsi??
hi i have same labtop working on charger but not cgarging bettry need boarview file pleas
Hello🤝good job 👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👋👋👋👋🐤
Good 👍
My Dell Inspiron laptop only charge 32% after that it stops charging what's the problem?
In case of older Thinkpads only possible case of being "dead" was the user.
trebuuie sa folosesti alt cablu pt usb c output care intra in laptop, cred :)
Where do you get the schematics from?

it's still readable and then getting worse 😂
A special window for the EC chip to either screw the customer or get around their awful design for access..... I guess both.
is the chip need to be reprogram?
No

Atorch usb tester.... terrible design
Lenovo battery connector is the worst battery connector ever, it's hard to unplug/plug it back
i hate this usb c, this mean i need to order the ic first just to bring the 19v😭
sorin can you make a modification, reguler 19v charger for this kind of usb c 😁
