You've got some good bones here, just a couple constructive criticisms: - You're right about the guitar, it doesn't really fit and sounds more like an organ haha you might try using the trumpet for those parts or maybe a slap bass, something with some pop to it. - I might see what the current trumpet section sounds like as a piano as well, right now it sounds kinda busy (this was something I struggled with back when i played around with FLStudio like 20 years ago) - I think it would be capped off really well with one final stab after the end drum break. Maybe a little build up of horns to the last POW (the song "Hey Pachuco" would be good inspiration) but yeah, good job overall! That's one thing I wish i would've kept up with from highschool was making music. It wasn't gonna win any awards but it was fun and a good creative outlet :)
This is a lot of really helpful feedback, thank you! I've only been making music for fun and I've been going for about 2 months now? So I struggle to make polished projects, and tips like this really help :) I used a guitar because I was following the structure of another song I really like, but I had never used guitars before so that's why it sounds the way it does xD A slap bass does sound like a really good idea, I'll see if I can try and get that to sound good in a project. Songs sounding busy is one of my biggest issues xD I struggle to find a middle ground, it's either dry or too much going on, even if I try to mix in some bass instruments along with violins or piano. But I'm sure I'll get that with time. I'll definitely check out "Hey Pachuco" :) And thank you! Music is really fun to do, and getting better at it is half the fun for me, so again, I really appreciate this comment!
