Some cultures consider it good luck to have a cat show up at their house. As for being inside, get the cat a litter box. Can take care of the bathroom issues. She knows winter is coming and she's trying to protect her babies. There could be more. Watch for them.

A tip for older sisters: When my sister is cleaning and not so sure if it’s clean enough, I always ask if she has the courage to lick that surface. If yes, it’s clean, If she does a funny face, she can clean better 😂

Those pancakes look delicious....keep the apple trees at least 12 feet or 4 meters apart, also away from the foundation...

You do not want to plant any kind of tree next to any plumbing pipes water pipes pumps anything of that nature because the roots will go towards that water source and they'll destroy the pipes underground. And you planted these trees too close to the building when they reach maturity their branches will be up in the building and up into the roof you should plant at least 15 to 20 feet away from the building, and don't forget apple trees need plenty of sunlight. Also if you got a shallow box about 4 to 6 in depth big enough you can put some dirt in it sit in the corner and they will use that as a litter box where you can buy cat litter in a litter box.
Yes, these trees are too close to the building. Would be good to move them w bit further away.
As someone who has had to remove outdoor plants that were planted too close to a house, I agree you should move the trees away from a house a few more feet.

We enjoy watching you do your thing whether it is cooking or baking or washing dishes or building things or making mistakes while learning and being silly. I think most of us clicked on the video because of the idea of renovation but the reason why we continue to watch is because of you honey. So just continue filming your life there. There are many other channel creators that make videos with them cleaning their house or cooking or gardening and it's very relaxing to watch. Don't think we need anything more than what you're already doing. Life is not a video production and when it starts becoming a video production it becomes fake and not honest or authentic. It's just like those reality shows that are anything other than reality because no one has that much drama and that much excitement in their everyday life. We like YOU and that is why we are here.
Cats won't poop everywhere, that's dog behaviour 😂 cats LOVE clean spaces, just put a litter box where you want them to go (not near where they sleep or eat, as I said, they love being clean) and they will train themselves to use it xx

You should just keep the cat familiy with you, just put sand boxes and they'll be great companions and get rid of all the mice :) cats are very clean and don't smell at all, as opposite to dogs (yeah not a fan of the stinky dog smell) 😂 don't forget to spay the mum and the kitten as soon as they are 6 months old or the population will multiply haha. If you make some shallow cat boxes upstairs for there litter mom will teach the babies where to go. Also a little vinegar in hot water really cleans windows well. Love your video's ❣ Stay sweet❣
Litter boxes for kittens are just temporary thing , with time kittens will prefer to go potty outside :) . Just make sure to spay them .. and they’ll be with your family for a long time .
Exactly what I said before. By the way I live in Italy too, in the mountains in central Italy and I look after 13 cats outside my house, plus my two, I made sure they are all sterilized.. I feed and made warm comfy places for them outside my house..despite living on very very little money, I do my best, plus some kind people from other towns help. Please look after those poor kittens and their mom😢
Agreed! CATS WANT CLEAN! If you keep them inside, provide a nice large, high-sided box with litter. Maybe not sand because it contains FLEAS and other CRITTERS. I clean my litter box twice a day with 3 kitties.
I LOVE that you show us the every day things you do! Show us the cooking and cleaning! That cake looked marvelous! Show us in detail how you make it....the recipe. Show us things like how you handle the inconveniences of how things are for you now. Looks like you all have a really good system going. Show us the feeding of the chickens and egg gathering.....clearing of brush.... gathering wood...etc. You are doing a great job for a beginner. Keep it up...you are NOT boring us at all! For the cats, you can leave a sand box upstairs for them. They tend to be clean freaks. Thanks for the video!
Totally agree..sand absorbs the odor as well..we have 5 cats..just welcomed 2 more kittens this oct..so :))) don’t worry just change the sand box daily ..Milla adores you 😻

I use wood pellets that are meant for animals like horses, small animals and cats. I buy them in big bags at the tractor supply shop and they’re not that expensive and it doesn’t smell quite as bad. Mama cat since she’s used to being outside might prefer to get out and continue going outside but you can easily train kittens to go in a box. Cats WANT to be clean and also bury afterwards.

Cats are easily trained to go in a litter box. Moms also clean up usually after the babies. They are really adorable :)
Especially those two back garden trees could use a protective wire fencing around them if you have any plant nibbling creatures: bunnies, deer, stray goats....
Your cats would happily use a kitty litter box. And the poo is most visible, but it's the Kitteh pee that will leave a lingering impression.
When I bought my farm property the previous owner abandoned over a dozen feral cats. So, I'm an old hand @ this stuff.

I do have to agree with other comments about how close to your building you planted the tree. You may want to reconsider and move it a bit further away. Roots will damage building structure and pipes.
The rule is plant 2x the distance from the building as the canopy of the full grown tree.
Full grown apple tree canopy = 15ft
Plant at least 30ft from building.

Yeah but do you know if the apple trees are dwarfs, semi-dwarfs, or old-style? Regardless, I agree they are too close to the house. Also, the bees will come in the window in the spring and the wasps (eating the drops) will come in the fall.
I think it’s great watching a teenager cook. So many teenagers in the USA don’t.
@ Laurie Stueart, I was thinking the same thing about teenagers in America! My own granddaughters would never do the dishes! It’s hard enough getting them to load the dishwasher. And to have them clean, build those cute benches, bake, and not wine about it would be a miracle! Oh how different our countries are and how they influence their children.

You may find it uncomfortable, but can you get a post box where folks can send cards or gifts. You have no idea how many would love to share in your journey by sending you things that makes your work easier. And it is fun to watch gift openings live or part of blogs.

- idk how other people - but I am wholeheartedly for more cooking videos, maybe even some recipes for some of your fav or national dishes?
Some advice I kept on thinking when watching the video:
- KITTENS: get a litter box for them, and the mum will really quickly figure out how to use it. It is a natural instinct for cats to dig up their poop [this way bigger predators cannot find them in wild] so they will adapt in no time to having a litter box.
You can use eco litter - made of clay, hay, or sawdust and just put it into your animal manure / compost pile, along with chicken's and rabiit's.
DO NOT GIVE cat or kittens cow milk - unless you like cleaning. And trust me - you wouldn't like the effect of such diet on cats.
- APPLE TREES: as someone who planted an orchard I have some tips :)
First of all - cut the grass around the trees, preferably at least 2 square meters, so the grass won't take away nutrition from young plants.
Keep the apple trees 3-4 meters apart from each other if they are classical orchard variety. If they are column type - they can be as close as 1 meter from each other.
Your planting hole should be around a meter wide and half meter deep. You can put compost, manure, sawdust, leaves and grass on the bottom, some soil, the tree and more soil. And always add water to the hole before planting, wait till soil sips it, and then plant the tree - therefore tree has to move it's roots deeper into the ground for water. ANd you get strong roots.
Also keep in mind to water these at least 3-4 times a week now until frost comes, so they would not dry out.
Remember to put hay around them when frost comes.
- CONTENT: do not bother yourself with not showing "action" as much. It is homestead tyoe of channel - so anything that is required in homesteading is interesting and welcome as a content. I personally would love to see more cooking, recipes even, more animals, or maybe a tour around the land - it seems very beautiful there!
Hope you still have great time making these videos. All the best, kudos for the family and for the kittens.
P.S your kittens are probably all females, since most calico cats are females - it is some kind of genetic mutation that ties to the X genome and occurs in mostly females... As far as I know there are just a few male calico kittens around the world now, so it is 99.99% sure that your are all females too :)
P.S. 2 - IF YOU'D EVER NEED ANY ADVICES ON GARDENING, ORCHARDS ETC - i AM HAPPY TO HELP.

To be honest for me she is typical teenager. But I am from country nearby Czech republic so maybe this is why.
I also cooked as teenager, renovated my apartament with my mum ( od course smaller scale than they do).
But I also watch some mormon families from US on UA-cam and their kids are kind of similar as well.
So yes, probably most depends on your parents and their choices :)

We here in South Africa are also inclined to teach our children all kinds of domestic and technical things so that when they grow up they can do things for themselves and teach their kids the same. _*

I just watched a homestead video where the homesteader was teaching that no question is a stupid question because you don't know what you don't know. She was recently asked if her milk cow was a boy or a girl.
I have no desire to make fun of the person who asked but it makes me so sad I almost cried.
Too many are so far removed from our food and a natural life.
You all are making such a beautiful homestead. You might want to look into straw bale gardening so you can garden on that cement pad out were you planted the second set of apple trees. 👍
And I would have loved to have a daughter like you. But God blessed me only with a son, whose a writer and doesn't care for the homestead life. 😭

Cats are good mother's, if you put a large box of sand or cat litter, I use wood pellets. The mother cat will train them to only go to toilet in that box.... Keep up the good work!!! Channel is great BTW. 👍

I love your videos and literally, you could film the most boring job on the farm and we would all watch lol. There are actually people who only film themselves cleaning their home and people watch so yep....you are good, wash those dishes, sweep that floor, cook, feed the chickens... it's your personality and you and your family's mission on your new farm and your sweet family and their personalities so, it doesn't have to be a big deal because literally anything you film though it boring and mundane to you will be awesome to us. When you can.....monetize these videos and set up a Patreon account because you could make money and you would be surprised to see how many people would like to help pay for new projects or things you need! Looks like you'll need to put a kitty litter box (or two) for them. You'll never find all the poop, if you don't. At least it will all be in one place, if you do that.
And as they get older I am sure they will go outside- clean they are as you say!

I don’t know what type of apple trees those are, but they don’t seem to be grafted onto dwarf rootstock. The closest to the building will be way too big for that space. And I wonder how you will water the ones out in the field? The kittens are precious and I love the cooking in the videos. I would like you to also tell us what you are making and how you are doing it, I find it so amazing that you do so much cooking and washing dishes, cleaning, building. You’re a wonderful daughter!
Yes, I was just saying planting your apple tree to close to any building will cause the roots to tear up your foundation as years go by and tree gets bigger.

I hope you didn't plant those apple trees too close to the buildings. I looked it up and you should plant them 8 to 10 feet away from a building . They will grow wide as well as tall. It's not too late even though I know it will be a lot of work to move them. Love you and your family.
