“This robot has been programmed to randomly eat almonds”
Yes Sir
Can relate. Those suckes are really tasty
Robot: What's my purpose?
Human: Eat deez nuts
Robot: ......
These machines are owned and operated by Big Ed
And remember: decoyed almond don't exist
What I got from this video:
- Almonds just magically appears in a factory.
-Always wash your almonds, always!
WifeOfOryx created by lasers, cameras and tiny puffs of air.
I never wash my almonds brrrr
@@Shnick a
Also the shells are removed by magic.
Or wipe them off.
Raw almonds are as good or better than roasted. Depending who grew them.
Trees!... that's a wrap folks, pack it up.
You saved me 5 minutes. Thank you.
Lol, that’s what I was thinking! It’s like, don’t they grow on trees???
This comment had me in literal laughing tears for this entire video idek wtf this man said at all
Fuken ruined it for me before watching it
Plus millions of gallons of water.
I used to drive a truck with double trailers in the almond orchard, during the September harvest, in California. Same as they show at the beginning of the video, in the processing plant. 24/7 operation, very dusty. Almonds are also expensive because newly planted trees take seven years to grow before the first crop. The most interesting part of the harvest is when they dislodge the nuts from the tree - a low tractor with two long arms grabs the trunk and shakes it violently, knocking the husks free. Farmers tell the same joke - the "L" in almond is silent because they shook the "ell" out of them.
Great and factual. comment, thoroughly enjoyable .
Hi
I am looking for Almond to import it to Middle East
If you can help me please 🙏
Thanks
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there a tree somewhere in this process? I mean this is how they're processed, not how they're made.
You new here?
Ya I get the concept of the show. I was just sort of hoping for a look into how they're grown and harvested.
Pfftt a tree! What's that?
I lived about three years on an almond ranch when I was a teenager ... help with harvest and the little processor the owner had ... maybe 25 foot tall trees would bloom in the spring, grow fruit until ready ... we used rubber mallets to bang on the tree limbs to knock the nuts off ... and then ran a machine that just scooped them up off the ground ... thus all the debris shown in the video ... the correct pronunciation when the nut is still on the tree is /al-mund/, with the L sound ... after it's on the ground, processed and on your table, it's pronounced /ah-mund/, without the L sound ... the rubber mallet mentioned above knocks the L out of them ...
Nathan C LuL this guy get's it
I watched full video but I'm still curious how they remove the shell of Almond
If I understood correctly.... they spin the crap out of the whole almonds, the friction separates the shells from the almonds and the spinning barrels have perforations in it, so the almonds can escape, but not the shells... then a computer, a camera and shots of air get rid off the small shells that made it with the almonds, among other stuff...
Francisco Noyola haha “spin the crap out of them” that made my day😂
by teeth
Wait there are shells
Monkeys and hammers
Some of this sorting technology is just... *nuts*
That's very punny. Not.
This reminded me of my jar of almonds and I swear they tasted extra delicious when I ate them while watching!
Eat more California almonds, a wheel barrow a week is all we ask.
Do you still have extra almonds
I don't know how this video will be useful for me, but here I am watching it 4am in the morning.
twinnnn it’s 4:16
I was laughing through this whole episode.
"Some buyers would pay a premium for the best nuts"
"One day I will be mature enough to not laugh at Uranus"
@@certified9104 not as funny
That what she said
how old are you?
just curious.
@@boryontotheleader2328 your comment is even more funny!
I want to know how they milk almonds for almond milk.
They squeeze that nipple!
@@OctaApe **Then* *Milk* *Starts* *Coming* *Out**
@@nanmaco Instead it's lava!
I realize it's a joke, but to make any kind of nut milk all you do is blend the nut with water and filter the liquid from the solids. It's actually pretty easy to make at home, all you need is a cloth bag made for the job, and a blender.
@@walpoly oh that was actually pretty helpful
“Warning: NOT A STEP” 😂
That's where Veruca Salt fell in 🤭
😄
This warning implies that somebody may have previously stepped on it.
I'm from Northern California where a lot of this work is done! I worked for a company that manufactured equipment that is part of the almond harvesting process. Its so cool to see stuff I designed as I drive through the area. Great video!
During my Chico State years 1977-83 I lived right next to an almond orchard. They called them “am-ends” Like Sam.
I used to haul almonds from field to plant to blue Dimond.
Glad I'm not doing that anymore. Those 15+ nonstop (and I mean nonstop) hour days.
Finally got my hearing back.
I'd rather not have human hands touching my almonds. 😷
Imagine how much cheaper almonds would be if people just ate imperfect looking almonds, instead of having a 23 step process of robots for sorting almonds...
@princesspumpkinpanty he's talking about the added premium cost of so called "perfect" almonds
Just Compared the price with here in India, and there's barely any difference in both the imported Californian Almonds with similar robotic process or hand-filtered Indian packed.
Did you see how many times they were processed and a piece of glass still made it through. Why sell imperfect one when you can make butter and chocolate bars and milk where it not needed.
@@lalit.1 no way in hell am I gonna let India hand pick me pecans after that poop beach video I just watched
The whole thing did make me realize that this idea of a picky eater is just a extreme of the already picky standards we unknowingly follow. I grew up on heirloom tomatos so I was used to cutting off pits & scabs but the amount of superficial standards is infurating good thing.hopefully most of the ones that don't make it are put into other items.
As my mother would say: "Don't waste food -- it's expensive!. Do you think it grows on trees?"
Your mom has humour.
@@dozog Sadly, no. What she does have though is a 10 body and an 80 IQ. My father wasn't subtle about why he married her. Still, she tries her best :)
you should not talk about your mother like that.
Last time i checked almonds are harvested, NOT MADE
It’s just the name of the show! Get over it.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@SREarsman1 It's just a joke. Get over it.
This is a Chinese factory. All the food is made from resin.
Anurania 😂😂😂😂
How do they deshell the almonds. You just skipped over an entire process.
Actually refers to the shell as the “hull”. Removal is described about 55 seconds in.
we now have machines to assemble our own almonds from raw elements, what a future.
Haha!
If almonds are pick by machines then whos going to pick the machine to pick the almonds. I know its crazy but I'm still trying to figure out if my barber cuts my hair then whos cut his hair. Lmfao
U dumbo. Its called refining machinery. Not manufactuing unit.
@@bkpolysolutionsvasuvaghela9726 I once knew an elephant 🐘 named Dumbo lol

Everytime i watch videos like these it makes me proud of being a human. Such accurate precision and efficiency all in a computer to sort out almonds better than a human can do in an hr
I also pay a premium for the best nuts.

You forget the step where they add the decoy almonds.
Haha Just kidding decoy almonds don't exist!
Or do they?
I was wondering how the shell was removed the entire time. "Then the shells are removed" that's slightly annoying, no explanation at all to my knowledge.
This was missing a lot of probably interesting details. Like I think they uses a tractor with a shaker plate to get them out of the tree
How it's made Almonds! Step one: plant a Almond tree step two: eat Almonds🌱
I thought Almonds grew in nature, now I know they’re made in a factory. Shits nuts
Can you do How it's made: Babies
yep there is an episode on "pornhub".
*My mornings are all about your channel, thanks!* 💕👍
"How almonds are MADE"
Me:- Trees. That's how almonds are made. Trees.
Great Video!! I Love Watching How It's Made 😍 Thank You!!❤💕
What happened to the almond before it got to the packaging facility?
What the tree looks like?
How is harvested?
They have mechanical shaking machines that go into the almond groves, grab the trunks, and violently shake the tree. The almonds fall to the ground and they're picked up by other machines that then move them into trucks. It's also why they found a bottlecap in the trash.
“Some buyers will pay a premium for the best nuts” 😂
I didn't know people were so picky about their nuts. lol
Was looking for this comment 😂
😂😂damn
Dang. They whipped out the de-stoner, looks like i gotta go..
Good night im out
Lol! Ditto...

I need to leave too but I'm too stoned to move around right now.
Anyone elsee that that Corona cap at 1:48 🍻
you'r literally eating my sibling's -_-
Silly of your parents to give you all the same name.
if only i had put half of the care they put into sorting almonds, into my life
They are not a guilt free snack! To much and they are fattening. Recommended is 18 almonds per day!
I’m allergic to nuts . Why am I here ? 😞🤣
I’ve seen some of the equipment at Central Valley processors but it’s great to see the whole process. Really labor intensive even with robots and computers. I don’t know why they made that lady toss the reject almonds up when it’s far easier to give her a drop chute just inches away from the conveyor belt.
Thank you for not using single use plastic . Bravo 👏
Guilt free my ass. Almond production is terrible for the environment. It takes 3 and a half litres of water to grow a single almond. 80% of the world’s almonds are grown in an already drought stricken California. As much as I like almonds, the commercial growing of almonds in America needs to be banned.
Take a shot every time he says "almonds"
Two when he says "perfect".

You should check them into a rehabilitation program and not make jokes about serious marijuana abuse

this is relaxing to watch :D
Hello. I subscribed to this channel. I like factories.😍
love from japan.
I'm sure almonds are made by nature
Thanks to this factory 🏭 for not using plastic packaging 😊❤️
Seeing this video it seems almonds are made by machines...,,😃😄😄
There's a lot missing from this story of how an almond goes from a tree to a Hershey bar.
All I could think of while watching this is Arin talking to Dan about how terrible growing almonds is for the environment
Whoooo???
I understood that reference.
Absolutely fascinating
Yummy almond
Those final perfect almonds are so incredibly flawless I would be scared to eat them.
So like 80% of the process is checking and rechecking for rocks and cracks?
I just saved alot of money by switching to Geico.
"How They're Processed" would be a more accurate title than "How it's Made" 😆
Random question, am I the only one who likes it when they spill a drink on their bed?

Believe it or not, the second have of this video was filmed at my family almond business, Travill and Phippen! My dad met the producer of how it's made! If you guys still have questions, I can answer them. (Plz don't hate, I swear I'm telling the truth)

When was the business started (at this factory)?
Good and informative Docu.
This is extremely high tech for almonds

This is really more how they’re processed if it was how they are made we would be watching a tree grow them
"Came from the belief that they increased fertility"
_looks at the wrinkling on the almonds_
Ya know... it does kinda look like... uhh....
Half-expecting there would be a narration of how almonds were cooled till 50 o' clock and flavored with the tears and sweat of immigrant child laborers or something.
But this had no waterfalls, or red color flavour.
*"Some buyers will pay a "Premium" for the best "nuts."*
watching this while eating almonds right now
californium produce 80% of world almond?!! I don't think so
In Bharat we have much impacted production in almond area, it's a bit hind for world in domestic purposes we consumes more than other countries...
To fulfill our country's need of almond,we buy Californian Almond too...
I lived in No. Cal when I was in the service; in almond growing country; the correct pronunciation is Ah-mend ...No "L" sound...The joke is because you have to "Knock the L out of the tree to get them out"
Not all of us in No. Cal almond-growing region(s) drop the "L." If I remember correctly, my Wisconsin-bred mother pronounced it without the "L." And possibly with the "A" being like "apple" rather than "almost." Us kids did pronounce the "L," I think because that was how it was locally mostly done. And the "almost" A sound.
Literally grew up breaking open these shells to eat the almonds 😊
They sort them by the quality of their shells then shell them then sort them by the quality of the nut. Seems like a waste of a step. If you shell it you only need to sort it once since you shell it anyway.
I thought about going on an all-almond diet. But that’s just nuts. 🤪
Who's watching while eating almonds? 😋
Thank u almonds for being almonds
Almonds aren't made, they are harvested.
Chris Ardaiz but they ARE made, by plants

The sorting machine with camera technology sending information to a robotic machine that picks up the almonds is incredible - whoever invented that and manufactures the machine is very clever and I suppose rich.

Wait hold on you MAKE almonds
This is why almonds are so fucking expensive.
Perfect 2AM video

Mean while my dad brings them home from the almond farm he works at and shells them by hand lol
The De-stoner machine should be called the "Buzzkiller", I hate it when something causes a de-stoning effect on me. 😂
"how is it made" almonds grow on trees.
Now, explain to me how are they processed, the almonds where already made before arrival to the factory.
The colonel takes care of that.
I must have missed something...where is the part where they activate them??
I was eating almonds and raisins when I was recommended this.
Tbh watching this video raised more questions than what it answered. No slow mo of the machine blowing the lesser product? I mean c'mon that has to be interesting to watch
