Ended up getting this Bible for around $60 on a crazy sale. I love the page color and wish I could get a compact Bible with the same paper. I love all the excerpts too. They give some interesting thoughts on verses and passages.
Bro how did I not know about this before tonight?! This is so up my alley it’s ridiculous. I ordered one lol. I was checking out the CSB, started loving the balance between literal and dynamic, and was looking on Evangelical Bible and saw this, watched your video, fell in love with it and ordered one immediately. I think I’m going to love this Bible and it will probably be my new favorite!
This definitely gonna be a blessing to someone very lucky good luck everybody and merry christmas
This Bible is stunning! Thanks for your review!! Great text block and love the DROP caps!! What a great SB!
It’s a fun one!
What a wonderful idea for a Bible! I really want to know more about our early church fathers. I hear bits and pieces but this is a great idea for a study Bible!
After seeing a review of the hardcover I thought that model was nice, this thing is over the top! I love the history aspect of this one, and I'm a fan of the CSB. I didn't even get one until this year and fell in love with it. Been enjoying your channel, and going through your videos which are substantial. Have a blessed day!
❤️👍🏼
Beautiful Bible and very interesting concept. Thanks for another great review! ❤️
Thanks for watching, Mom!!
This is a beautiful bible! Thanks for sharing!
Solid review, your becoming my new favorite Bible reviewer. You and Frisch. But we’re all Tim’s so I’m biased. I appreciate all the work you put into these, looking forward to getting this one.
Thanks, Tim!!
Wow I love the details of this Bible! I’m a huge history buff myself so this would be amazing for someone like me who wants to honor the church fathers and remain close to the truth they imparted on us
🎄🎅🏼🎁
By far my favorite Bible. I have the leather and hardcover.
Great review. I have this Bible and love it
Nice!
I’m sold. Quality review 😎
Spencer Dunn!! Thanks!
I have a cheaper version of this and absolutely love it. I thought it would be a bit of a novelty but it is really blowing me away. I've sent this one back and will order the snazzy version after watching this :-)
Just ordered one tonight
Just got this Bible from my college commissioning ceremony. To my surprisement two of my professors wrote commentary in this study Bible. Quick shoutout to Oklahoma Baptist University.
Nice!
This is a really cool bible. Your the man while i was typing “do the make a hardback?’ You said “they make it in a hard cover”
I too love church history and think if the whole body of Christ did we would be better prepared for the things going on in the world today.
Nice! Thanks for watching!
They do a cloth over board version and leather soft versions
Tim, like you I am very much a lover of history. One of the purchases I intend on making in the future--a Christmas present perhaps, is the CBS Ancient Faith Study Bible. period o My reasoning is quite simple. How does one know where he is unless he knows from whence he has come in terms of his/ her historicity. This is a sometimes exhaustive undertaking--but a rewarding one, I think. One of the great uses of this Bible would be during the Church Training Hour in which this Bible would be provided by the church and people would be enrolled for a period of 6 months.
As a Presbyterian solidly in the Reformed catholic tradition this Bible is a dream come true! I'm usually an ESV guy but, CSB is an excellent translation as well. Cannot wait to get my hands on this!
Nice!!
As a Catholic, I do actually want to get this bible. I've heard other Catholics say great things about it. Of course the only thing missing are the Deuterocanonical books
What a unique study Bible.
Own this bible so can’t wait to see what you think 🤔
This looks beautiful and promises to be very interesting as well. I don’t have any writings by the early Church Fathers, so it will be interesting to read their “take” on Scripture. Many thanks.
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!!
Looks great!
For sure!
Good job
I love when you show your tattoos. It reminds me of 1 Samuel 16:7. You may have tattoos and people may not like that look. But you have something more important. A heart for God and his word. I love ya, brother!
Thank you!
Thanks for including the copyright page, that seems to confirm they haven't updated the content. I have a hardcover copy. Had too many study Bibles already but this was too unique to pass up! I enjoy having notes from the church fathers alongside the Biblical text.
Exactly... seems like a really great resource to have for those days when you want to study in a different way.
But why the hard cover version has 1776 pages and this one 2000? I am confused. Thanks for everything.
I’m a senior in HS, and I’m a history and church history nerd too!
That's awesome, Brian!
Nice to see a young man
So interested in church history
Yes, but don't just love to learn it. Really understand it. Compare the early church to today's churches. Who is worshipping via Prayers, songs, incense, Eucharist, confessions etc? You will then come to find that the only 2 churches that have any place to debate are the Orthodox and the Catholics. Every other denomination is founded by men, not Christ. Enjoy your classes and God Bless!
Can someone please let me know what translation of the Bible Fr Seraphim Rose is using. Thank you.

@@weemouse1959Reach out to the Monastery he helped to found, Saint Herman of Alaska Monastery. They have a website and a Wikipedia history page. If I were you I would send a letter to the Monastery with your question and an envelope with a stamp and your address upon it.
As a general observation the KJV, NKJV, and RSV as well as the NASB are popular in the Orthodox world. A search using the question "What English translation is used by the Orthodox Church?" will help. There is a good article of the Christianity stackexchange on the subject.
May God smile on your search.
Hey @Tim. Excellent review. Have you ever reviewed the leather soft Orthodox Study Bible and The Great Adventure Catholic Bible? If not, would it be possible for you to do so? Catholics and Orthodox Christians do love your reviews as well.
Here's a link to the Great Adventure review: ua-cam.com/video/j0AwQWnDwtA/v-deo.html
@@timwildsmith Thank you. Hopefully I’ll see the Orthodox Study Bible soon. Love you and what you do. God Bless you.
Question: Does this Bible have the extra books found in Eastern/Greek Orthodox bibles have?
Tim, since I’ve started watching your videos I’ve gotten 4 R.L. Allans and a crossway esv personal size single column. There’s no stopping now… lol
You’re in the deep end!
Sound familiar, Tim???😁
@@timwildsmith like me
Do you have a video reviewing your favorite must-have study Bibles? I’m looking to add a study Bible to the the Schuyler NLT and NKJV that I use primarily for everyday Bible reading and study. Thank you for all you do!
NLT Life Application Study Bible
I love this Bible. As a practicing Roman Catholic, I certainly wish the Apocrypha were here, but after all, each of the old Christian churches has its own apocryphal choices, all of which I have in one volume. I don't see much difference between the workmanship of this Bible vs. my Schuyler Quentel. Perhaps I'm just not picky enough. I really, really like the creamy-colored pages, being easier on the eyes than bright white. This certainly isn't an end-all for education about early Christian scholars. My hope is that this fine volume will whet the interest of the readers sufficiently to spur them to look further in other resources. Great review BTW!
Thanks so much!
If you're Catholic, please don't call the deuterocanon "apocrypha".
@@marcus7049 Nonsense. Learn your Church history.
I need no more convincing:) I’m a history nerd as well so this is right up my lane.
Awesome!
Does it have the Septuagint or just the maseretic, or 39 books of the old testament
39 (Protestant Canon)
Protestants keeping the Filioque in the Nicene Creed is so interesting to me
Yep... there's a lot to be intrigued by when it comes to how church traditions develop over time.
I have to have it
It's a winner!
I'm really starting to like the CSB a lot more, but the snail's pace rollout of the 2020 text editions is a damper for sure. Likely not Holman's fault, 2020 just happened to be a terrible year supply chain wise to launch a new text edition. Either way, I'll just be perpetually waiting for that CSB PSQ that will never come lol.
I've heard the CSB PSQ might be 2022?? Maybe you won't need perpetually lol
@@sylviafriessen9124 I really hope it's 2022, that'd be awesome! I'm sure they'll get around to it eventually, I just exaggerate! xD
Schuyler is doing a second printing of the CSB Quentel, so that seems like a positive sign for a PSQ.
I love your tattoos and bible love. Subscribed for life
Awesome. Thanks so much!
Dang it...another CSB I want really bad...who am I kidding? I want all the Handcrafted CSBs 😂😂😂
They're making some great Bibles right now.
I feel you
Is this leather lined?
It looks like a synthetic liner to me, but it could be leather.
A beautiful Bible! I am considering purchasing it as a result of the review you posted. However, I am terribly disappointed that it doesn't include the Apocrypha/Deuterocanonical books. And for history...for one example, not including Maccabees is a severe deficit as far as history is concerned. The 'Apocrypha' was in every Christian Bible until 1828.
Wow I must have different leather than you on mine because the leather cover is not smooth and it has a lot of grain on it
Interesting! I imagine that each one will be slightly different.
It’s so unfortunate and annoying that that newly released edition still does not have the updated 2020 text. It’s disappointing. I wouldn’t buy that for that reason. I would rather wait for it to be in the 2020 text before I buy one.
Fair enough... not sure if they have plans to update it anytime soon.
I am a Truth nerd!
Nice!
put my name in for drawing
Given the inclusion of Origen in this CSB Bible (I own 3 different CSB Bibles, and like them very much) with Origen's HERESIES, (as shown @ 7:47 (freeze the video and read his text) I cannot recommend this CSB version. There is already too much false teaching in the church today. Why include someone like Origen who can foster additional false theology into the church? Even though the CSB explains that this is heresy at the end of the boxed text....still, I could not in good conscience recommend this CSB version. I am not refering to Origen's writing about the Trinity, rather about the nonsense about the "fallen" spirits.
Thanks for the video. I am glad that Protestants are finally starting to get interested in the Fathers instead of trying to interpret the Bible each man for himself. Sadly, part of the Bible of the Ancient Church of the Ancient Faith is missing! I am talking about the books of the Old Testament that the Protestants eventually threw out of the Bible. These too are part of the ancient faith. Also I was shocked to see that the Nicene Creed includes the filioque. The filioque is an addition to the Ancient Faith which Roman Catholics felt that they need to add to the Creed and for some strange reason, Protestants, despite being anti-papal, followed in the same errors. As I said, it is a start in the right direction, but only a start.
I would like a premium Bible, but I am a goat farmer. I love my goats. I can't have a Bible made out of goatskin. 😊
Origen is a heretic ..
😳
Origen's ideas about the soul were eventually declared to be heresies, but Origen also popularized the 66-book canon of the Bible that Protestants adopted (which of course left out the dueterocanon of Orthodox and Catholic communities), and on top of that Origen also developed the doctrine of Jesus' "substitutionary sacrifice" for our sins.
Should we burn our Origen-canon Bibles and stop our seminaries from teaching Origen's doctrine of "substitutionary sacrifice"?
The mentality you have of dismissing a Church Father without nuance because you disagree with him on one limited area of theology seems shortsighted, like the 12 Apostles interfering with exorcists working in the name of Christ but outside their group, while Christ himself was perfectly content to have them as his ministers besides the 12.
The Church and even the Bible are full of theological debates (on important issues such as intermarriage, pacifism vs war, and free will vs predestination), perhaps the most notable being the Jerusalem council in Acts that tried to settle the matters of circumcision and meat sacrificed to idols--which Paul more-or-less ignored when writing his epistles, going so far as to mention his bad blood with Peter over their differences of opinion.
Many Christians, Catholics especially, would be shocked to know that Augustine and Aquinas did not view abortion as murder, but as a lesser sin that required extended periods of fasting as penance, not the excommunication that the Catechism of the Catholic Church recommends today (which is almost never enforced).
The sooner we stop treating ourselves and church professionals as gods, and accept that reasonable, God-fearing Christians will differ on various theological points, the sooner we can get back to feeding and clothing the poor, treating the sick, welcoming the stranger, and showing mercy to the imprisoned as if they were Jesus in his earthly sufferings, as he commanded us.
The recent strategy of condemning the poor, leaving the sick to die, imprisoning the strangers, and letting cops execute suspects without trial has made Christians the laughing stock of the Western World.
I wanted to be a pastor once. I lost my faith. But I think I have been truly gaining it back and can sit on the sidelines no longer in the face of so much un-Christian hatred.
