It sounds a little strange I know but you are experiencing what the first 20 years of surfers felt. We were the outsiders to all the people who didn't surf. Stay strong, grow, keep your heart open and keep surfing.
awwwwwwwwww, thank you so so much for relating to this in your way and now I finally know that im not alone on this journey. Hope the chapter 02 of this series reminded you when you were searching waves in the unknown.
I absolutely love your video. Yeah - stay at home. explore those hidden spots and be a pioneer in China surf. We all know that one day it will be a huge thing and you are clearly into something. And the cool thing is - you have everything there. You have board making skills, you have the ocean and now - people are exploring new hobbies. And that family connection. Your mom and dad are awesome. Can't wait the next video!
awwwwwwww, thank you so so much for your words! It's a comment like yours keeps me going. After 80 hours editing, I finally finished part 2. Hope you enjoy the second part of this adventure like this previous one, xoxo
Wow ! This is what every surfer dreams of , finding waves in new places. getting a lift to the beach with mum brought a tears to my eyes, looking forward to more videos 👏greetings from AUSTRALIA 🤙
this is exactly how I wish I can live forever. I wish my mom can be proud of who I have became one day and would be a dream to be able to share my passion with her. Hope you are enjoying the amazing weather in Australia!!
Love to see another fellow Canton surfer getting it! Love seeing the surfing in my family’s homeland! Would love to travel back there to visit and surf one day as well. For now, Southern Cali waves will have to do! Thanks for making this awesome video!
Hope I can see you somewhere in the line up!! Every time I see someone that looks like me in the line up, I get a bit emotional to be honest . Hope you catch lots of good waves~
Thank you so much for sharing these incredible little big moments !! I love this and you’re so cool, am a surfer myself so you are now one of us!! Welcome to the family and furthermore keep em coming !!! ❤😊
I am super happy and honored to meet you on this “journey of tracing my origins”, and tell me that coming to Bali is the most correct and best decision I have ever made in my life. I love your humility, sunshine, positivity, and perseverance. You have so many good qualities that I can count them endlessly. I am also working hard to pursue my dream of surfing, and hope to see you in the ocean one day🫶🩵🩵
Great video!!! Very moving, visiting Shenzen in August, will check for a daytrip or more to find swell. Haven't surfed since Covid and living in a country with no descent swell, we always have to travel. Your video shares the love for the Ocean we all have so beautifully, thanks for that!
Great video ...I surfed in China back in the mid 1980s ! Come to Taiwan on your next visit, lots of amazing waves here and lots of girls surfing and ripping 🏄🏻🤙
Good for you! Subscribed! Used to catch epic swells in Okinawa when I was in the Marines. Same South China Sea, so it makes sense there are waves in China too.
I love international stories like these. Biographical with two cultures! Skate & surf culture is not big in China but it has opportunity. I saw a skate culture in Chengdu when li lived there.
Damn this video is really cool! Good editing, music, i can feel the vibe from south of china. Funny enough I learn how to surf in China (I am from Colombia where we do have some surf scene too), I've been here for 7 years. Learn to surf in Houhai, once i did small waves moved to bigger ones in Haitang and Riyue bay. I guess you know about those places in Hainan. Because of covid I explore Hainan and the south so much, i really loved the food, the vibe, the friendly people. I live in SH which is also great but a big city sometimes don't feel like home to me. Love to see your mom supporting you, for me will be a dream to take my mom to my adventures too! What can be a better travel partner?!
That's actually insane!! you might be one of the first people too surf there hahaha. RIYUE bay must look so different back then. I'm from the city as well. I can totally relate to how you feel It's definitely baby steps!! Hope one day mom will be down to be a travel partner hehe. Thank you again for sharing your stories and experiences with me.
@@SaltyCheeks Glad you reply! Waiting for more of your videos, my partner is Chinese and she felt very proud of you, sharing and showing the world how is China via surfing!
Cool vid. I grew up surfing on Ventura, CA and moved to Oregon in 2012. I didn’t surf more than twice the whole time I was there. Mainly skated all the amazing skateparks and focused on playing concerts. How wet eh pandemic made my wife and I really miss the ocean and we decided to move to her country the Philippines. In August I will finally be living in a place with great waves (Siargao island) after not surfing for almost 20 years. I miss the connection I had w the ocean as a kid and am so stoked it’s about to come full circle. Surfing is a special thing that connects you to the earth. Don’t give up! Maybe we can surf together someday at Cloud 9 in Siargao. Hang loose my friend!!!
I spent a couple months in Siargao decompressing after leaving the Army. Beautiful place. Those waves get BIG too. Just be careful, that reef is so sharp in some places!

I subscribed just because you are still so young and into the simplicity of the sport. But in time, it will lead you to other things. I never thought, but now I have to get away each year and go into Eastern Europe to hike and bike and just live like the locals that don't understand why I don't grow vegetables and have chickens and a pig too.
As they used to say "Charlie don't surf" - but I started surfing here in Vietnam, in Vung Tau, admittedly, not many locals surf or even know how to swim but a Ukrainian dude and his Russian wife run a shop hiring out boards and teaching local kids how to surf for free.
I guess mom doesn’t realize how surfing is a real healthy sport. I turn 60 next year, and still surfing! I’m just more picky now, on what kind of wave to surf…

I've just come back from spending 8 months in Sanya, Hainan. I managed to get up to Houhai a couple of times and rented some Soft tops. Couldn't get a rented hardboard. 😑🙏
