Thanks for trying our software. The Free Amp sounds are actually built into Axiom as Amp presets, so it is definitely capable of doing the same (and much better). But it's quite deep, so it may take time to find your own tone (there are many amp presets to explore beyond the global amp+fx presets provided with Axiom). Sorry about the demo limitation, it's usually fine when you want to just try the sounds, but probably difficult to use to shoot a video. Feel free to get in touch with us if you want to try out the full version for a more in-depth test.
I basically agree to your opinion soundwise although I haven't been diving deep into the software so far and I think that is where it shows it's strength, it has nearly endless possibilities to create even the weirdest sounds but I think it's another approach than "normal" amp sims the way it behaves. I will have to spend some time for experiments on it, I was (maybe still am) very confused about the tone knob as it seems to be used to find a sweet spot because if you move away from it you can pretty easily mess the sound up. The demo limitation is fine for me, I absolutely prefer it to some time limit of other plugin which make me feel like I have to be in a hurry for a decision. What I really love about it and what seems to be a "trademark" of Blue Cat Audio although I own just Axiom so far is that it has many innovative features like the possibility to insert any VST/VST3 Plugin...how great is that?
the best moment to buy Axiom is on black Friday (-40%)- and there are much better ampsounds in the complete version + the reverb and delay section alone are worth buying it
Totally agree. Maybe we could "pass around the hat" and take up a collection so John could buy a copy as he seems reluctant to shell out 199 for an amazingly good amp sim.
Thanks for the review John. Given how good the free amp sounds was sure this was going to be the best of the amp Sims. Talking of amp Sims - is your feed flooded with postive grids spark amp ATM??? They seem to be pummeling mine.
Amplitude 4.9 is same amount to buy and you get more gear plus Hendrix may slash setups and custom shop and community presets that users have created to use.
OK John I've tried loads of different software packages and here's my take. They are all great and can make very usable sounds. But there are plenty free versions and no need to pay for any of them
Axiom is NOT an easy to use plug-and-play type emulator...it is deeply immersive and capable of virtually any sound or tone but you have to work very hard to get there...if one is looking for easy-access tones then look elsewhere... Personally I like it...I don't LOVE it, but it has been loads of fun...it didn't hurt that I got it at a reduced price on a Plugin Boutique sale...
I pretty much agree with that review, some good stuff but not worth it. I still use the jamvox software for plugins when recording, and cakewalk as a DAW now - free version of Sonar - has its own plugin amp mods and pedals as well. Highly recommend cakewalk as a DAW.
Hi John, I know what you mean, it can be very annoying, when you trying to appreciate the sounds, the software acts strangely. I had a similar problem when I downloaded iRig's Amplitube 4 Software demo. When I was trying out the demo, I constantly kept getting a hissing sound. Thank you for posting this.
Thanks for taking me up on my suggestion to try Axiom. I'm sure as you find the time to explore it further that you will be more impressed. And PLEASE download Scuffham S-Gear and have a play with it. I own a copy and love it. When you use it in Reaper you can add all of the effects pedals that you want to use to enhance it. Cheers. Derek
the clean sounds were indeed nice but when the first brit sound came on I actually recoiled and urrgh that's horrible .... only my personal opinion though great video as always sir

More gear? No, not even with the "deluxe" $299 version.

Absolutely gotta try out the Scuffham S-Gear amp sim as well - they have a free trial. It's awesome!
YES ABSOLUTELY. I have purchased a copy and I am really happy with it. Can't wait until version 3 is released with some new amp models and pedals.
@@laurensedenburg8144 I didn't know there was a V3 coming!
