I've had two, both looked like very basic, comfortable touring bikes as you mentioned but each came with security, abs and cruise control. Great, affordable (for a Harley model) touring bikes for those long distance interstate riding adventures. I pull a small trailer with my 2013 113 year anniversary-edition Road King so I can tent camp and avoid the now-too-expensive motel bills.
A former owner put a batwing fairing on my older RK, but I mostly
use just the windshield. It's the custom model. I wanted a classic for chrome and whitewalls. Just ride.
I have owned two 2014 and currently 2017 RK. I love the basic style what you were saying about the wind buffeting can be greatly improved on with the fork deflectors installed. For a bike of its size it is very agile and comfortable on longer trips. For me, it just has that classic Harley look and I would take it over any other model.

Why is the “Road King” badge missing behind the headlight. The holes are there......fell off?😂
I was wandering of it too. I have a 2018 RK. Love it. Th only thing what I had to change was the seat. On long rides it was painful to sit on it. I have Mustang Touring Seat on it.
We noticed that too. They hadn't put it on at the time of video...it was brand new off the truck. Thanks for watching.
That's how you adjust the bars. The "road king" badge is actually an access cover for the bar clamp bolts. The cover just pops on and off pretty easily
