Boy, i love farmin....i just subscribed and i see good farm ideas at work. Livestock and good feed. Raising the family immersed in the farm, very good. Lord bless and thanks for letting us see, learn, and be glad for the examples of good living from you. Peace 🕊
Lovely video, thank you for sharing. My 10 month old son (who likes his combiners!) and I just watched it this morning. We farm in the south of France near the Pyrenees - we would like to try growing corn eventually ourselves.
Almost always people running old equipment for the first time forget that the corn they planted is about 30% larger than the maximum size the equipment was designed to handle. So the books are commonly way off in some settings. Great camera quality, btw.
Good Job I love that your putting in the effort even against the odds. You will do fine every year will have its struggles. I notice the one critic you have has no videos of what he is doing. Anyone who has ever run machinery in the field will tell you, the fixing is half the prosses.
It doesn't run. It's the Case IH combine they used to run that is being pulled apart of parts and scrap metal when needed. They're much happier with the John Deere so far.
A nice simple system you have going there ,nice looking combine that handles the corn well ,we call it Maize in the UK but have never grown it on my farm .Do you plough all that rubbish in after harvest ?
Thanks for watching Keith! We don't, we will leave all the corn stalks and bean stubble as it is to help prevent erosion throughout the winter. Depending on the field we may also graze the corn stalks with sheep or cattle. In the spring we run at least a disc over each field to help create the new seed bed.
@@rockyknobfarms yes, I agree. Make sure your stripper plates are set proper, and also maybe run your head a bit lower to the ground to get under downed corn. A full ear of corn with kernels on it will never go through the combine and come out with all kernels intact. They are being missed at the head and driven over. Nice video!thanks for the post! Ron. Where are you located? I'm from Minnesota.
Good question! They only need to cut the stalk a little below where the corn ears are hanging (for us, the rest of the plant doesn't really matter). You don't want to be too low to the ground so that you have less of a chance of picking up a rock. Rocks can cause a lot of damage. Some farms will then mow the bottom of the stalk off (like we did) and bale it for livestock bedding too
They had a red combine they've used for the past few years but it was starting to have a lot of issues. As a general rule they do prefer red to green but it also has to run! 😉
Great job on the video. But you have a lot to learn about corn harvesting. Pro's get excited about finding even a few kernels on the ground and when starting something new as you did they don't travel the whole field before making adjustments. More like a hundred feet at the most.
You're right but we don't claim to be pro's at anything. This was our first harvest with this machine and there are definitely some kinks to be worked out.
Love that you include Charlie in everything you do. He’s helping in his way. Very satisfying just watching the combine harvesting around and around.
Yes, it's part of the life. I don't know what we'll do if he ever looses interest in the farm.

Thank you for watching! The combines and tractors seem to entrance little kids.
Hi I am k,k from India very good work
Nice video. My kind of farming.

That's an interesting thought! We never considered that before, thanks!
That’s pretty country! What state are you guys in? If you don’t mind me asking.

Thanks for watching and for the encouragement!
Just subbed , audio a little low music which I like is a little high, look forward to watch your adventure, good on you both. 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks for the sub!
You might need new rollers put on the head- enjoyed the video.
a little practice and you will be able to unload on the run. I have a 4400 combine and it works great.
I love seeing your John Deere hard at work, but what is the red combine sitting in the yard and does it run

Did you check your striped plats on the header. The one ear your wife picked up the big tire on combine had run over.thanks
I'll pass the message along! Thanks!

What county are you all in? I’m in Wayne County. I also have a 6620 Turbo, but I’m running a 6 row narrow head on mine.
We're in Morgan
I love 💓 watching these kind of videos but I have a question, why leave the bottom of the corn stalks?

Thanks for your help. Thumbs Up
@@504carl that is because the combine don`t have to work with to much of the hard cornplant .
Does that intl combine work and have a corn head? Is it for sale?
It does not work and has been sold for parts, just waiting for the ground to dry for the guy to pick it up.
I'm your 189 th sub have a great day.
Just curious because I'm in the market for one too how mutch did you pay for the combine. Great video.
$7,000 for the combine and about $600 to get it to the farm

about 100 total

Put the header down! Fuck the book.
Kesinlikle haklısın
Not my intention to be ugly but, you need to sell that green no picking machine and buy a caseIH combine if you want grain in the tank!
