I sit back in both amazement over TheDooo's talent and also in amusement at remembering when he practically screamed the melody of Ascend into an electric ukulele while playing it on Rocksmith. The true duality of man.
There's an homage to Crazy Train at 12:30. Incredible how he rolls out of it. When Rocksmith included Ascend in their tutorial program The Dooo had to take that part out for copyright reasons.
I still love how he is super well known for his prowess on the guitar and wide intermediate usage of piano and vocals to round off amazing omegle performances, but he still belongs to the comedy cringe department of youtube
He has four songs, three of them ( Ascend, Eclipse and Horizons) are included in this video ( unless this video was from the other random channel posting his content in pieces). Ethereal was in the video where he introduced his hello Kitty guitar.
He also has another song called Neptune and another song called Utopia. Both of them are actually my favorite songs of his, assuming they are his and not covers.
The wammy thing is a pronounciated Harmonic. It’s a normal pinch harmonic but you tap the wammy bar to make it distort the harmonic making it Wave collapse on itself. It makes that split second of scilence then you hear the delayed Doppler effect. The way he picks is called CHICKEN pick’n and is what Zakk wylde uses.
Holy SHIT!!!!! To be honest. This is the best I have heard ever!!! The dooo is just Phenomenal!!!!!I Loved this. Thank you Gentleman for this video. Ima watch it at least 10 more times. 😂😂 That was EPIC!!!!
Depending on frequency of notes it would either be called alternate picking, as someone else stated, or tremolo picking if there's more focus on a single note :)
yep, was checking to see if anybody else commented this first. He uses wammy dives, hammerons and pulloffs, legato/slurs with 2 hand tapping, open string, octaves, and lots of techniques. Charles Berthoud is a prodigy like this, but on bass guitar and definitely one to check out. You can just about pick any of his songs but the ____ but it's impossible series is pretty incredible and some of his complete originals is mind bending too. Would love to see thedooo and Charles collab
*SUCH* a great guitar composition.... crazy technicality while remaining deeply musical. Still not sure about the drum programming personally, but I still listen to this on the reg. I'd love to see what an actual live drummer could do to match the calibre of guitar playing on this. Not sure what your chances are of getting him to send you the stems minus the drums tho, but best of luck!! :)
As much as you guys are in awe of the Doos talent, you both are amazing in your breakdown of the approach to this piece, and i appreciate hearing that..i'm learning so much from this music talk, and you both are hilarious and genuine which makes it even more awesome.🔥🔥🔥 Keep it up guys!
Well, speaking of Anime and Music, there are a whole lot of epic anime music, and there are some anime that utilizes music to scene build. The best anime at this ever, was Bleach, with more than 50 different Original Soundtracks, all named, and all of them evoking different emotional responses, I don't know if you guys would make a video of it, I don't think it's a necessity, and with copyright laws being as they are, if it would even be a good idea, but you could easily spend a couple hours by yourself just listening to the 3 OST collections. You don't even have to see the anime or know anything about it to extremely enjoy the OSTs, My personal favourite is BLEACH OST vol 1. #8 Raw Breath of Danger. But all of the OSTs are amazing works of art. The story itself of that Anime isn't that good, but the soundtrack accompanying it, holy hell, it's the best soundtrack I've ever heard in my life, a lot of different styles and it all melds together in perfect harmony. The composer Shiro Sagisu is a legendary composer, who has created over 2000 pieces, and just the sheer use of instruments to set the mood, you'll find it hard to find any better composer. Just a recommendation for you guys to check out, might give you a better view on anime and music, however Bleach is probably the best anime to show off the greatness of this, as most other anime rarely uses music in excess as Bleach did... I need to rewatch Bleach... I know every scene in my head, every line, and I've only seen it once. I just need to hear the voices again. The voice acting, the music, the story, the fights, the feels. And as a person with an extremely cold heart, Bleach's music pierces through.
I think it's called Alternate Picking. But I don't play any instruments, so I could be wrong. I think it can also be called Tremelo Picking / Double Picking if it's high speed on a single string.
Have you seen his videos where he plays a VR game where you just create beats and music using stuff provided in the game.....it's amazing what he comes up with in the fly
I think The Doo, is bracing his pinky of his picking hand against the guitar body, like Michael Angelo does. It bends his wrist to where you can't see the pick.
So it is an alternate picking technique called tremolo picking for the speed. If you think this is good (it is) check out his cover of Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen. Phenomenal.
ive seen him economy pick his arpeggios in a lot of his videos, he really seems to enjoy doing it which is understandable cause you can technically run arpeggios faster with that technique and is relatively easy to do
@@burnethedragon7065 Normally with tremolo picking you don't swap strings (not to say you can't). You're focussing on picking as fast as your arm will let you (you should trem pick from the elbow, not the wrist) making string changing a risky strategy. Void is right, he's using economy picking here which is a variant of alternate picking. If you've not got alternate picking down, get that down and then start to learn economy; it's essentially a branch of the same thing but if you just picked down and you're traversing to a higher string you pick down again with economy, not up as you would with pure alternate. A great little solo to work on alternate and economy picking is the first solo in For Whom the Bells Toll by Metallica; it's really short and just uses two strings but has some unusual skips between the strings.
@@thevoidking4990it is hard to tell at that speed, but I personally would say the part in question is still pure Alternate picking. Usually, Economy picking looks more fluid to me. But it could be, that he is so fast and tight, that I can't spot the difference. :)
Played properly Thunderstruck is not legato (hammer-ons and pull-offs); every single note is picked. Angus does it live different ways, mostly for the right arm in the air showmanship, but if you listen to the album version you can hear the pick attack on every note. Also, watch TheDooo play it; he picks every note.
I'm at work right now.. so viewing the back & forth is difficult but I listen to to everything. When the video & "B-Roll" comes to an end.. audio drop-out.. I'm thinking "Is that it?? I need more!!". So I've come to the conclusion you guys just need to start doing 4 hour live streams every day... what do you need to make that happen? If it's money I got you covered as soon as I win the lottery.
This was a double take. Original (keyboard and epiphone acoustic) plus the new equipment upgrade version (the electric guitar) and computer software. If you watch the triage he explains it all.
I have watched so many videos about this guy from many different people from his own videos and never once have I heard anybody compare him to Eddie Van Halen and I don’t know about everybody else but if anybody can be a match to Eddie Van Halen it is Dooo
What still gets me is the time the dooo was on Omegle acted like he couldn't play was a noob then slammed out arpeggios from hell ..that was such a dick move lmao
For more amazing guitar check out Gary Moore, Still got the blues for you a live version and same artist, the messiah is coming. A reaction to the first suggestion would be good.
This is different forme but thanks. For some live Home Free they do a version of Mayday where they call beatbox and you can hear Adam Chance hit that note live.
Idk what the actual terminology would be as I never took guitar classes or anything, I just messed around with a guitar in my spare time before my arthritis got bad enough that I struggle with it anymore but it might be tremolo picking that you're thinking of? That's what I've called it anyways. Could be way off lol. I'm no expert.
You guys should react to his video titled Guitar Solos with Dooo but its on the new guitar he does all of his original solos on the music man guitar and he fucking rips it.
Man, you have to listen to Jonathan Young doing the Pokémon theme song. He's got the original singer who sang the English Pokémon song featured. It's great.

He's genuinely a prodigy with perfect pitch. He's insanely talented. Great reaction vid!
Relative pitch actually, perfect pitch you are born with which is not his case. He just worked super hard
the dooo is the king of pitch. dude just doesnt miss a note

I really appreciate how much insight you guys provide on the skill and technique that it takes to do this stuff.
This guy is with out a doubt one of the best musicians ever
That rift combination from like 7:08 to 7:21 still blows my mind. So clean and gorgeous.

If I remember correctly I believe he's mentioned his first instrument was the violin and he hated it.
2set violin wants to know his location 😂
Tim Henson had the samr story too, he started Violin at 3 and switched to guitar at 10
Yup. That would be correct.
What’s it like looking in the mirror all the time and seeing a damn legend? Y’all are awesome. Hope you guys keep growing and getting more attention.
Depending on frequency of notes it would either be called alternate picking, as someone else stated, or tremolo picking if there's more focus on a single note :)
at 12:44 he plays a bit of crazy train by ozzy, cuz he once said that was the song that made him really want to play guitar
8:56 It's called Tremolo Picking
He's economy picking
Been legit impatient waiting for this reaction!
There isn't much difference, but there's also the original video that he did for Ascend on the Squire, its insane. Great video as always guys!
Missed the crazy train Easter egg when you were stunned with the double pick raking.
Been waiting so long for you to react to this!
It's called alternate picking, its the act of moving the pick up and down to hit the string both ways.
