The loss of two animals that were pretty much mascots of each facility is heart breaking
Sorry for your loss. She was a huge girl and she will be loved. Get her mounted, taxidermy or replica, whatever you decide Will be a great way to have her with you all for the move and the new journey. 🙏🏽❤️

Great video! There is an alternative version of taxidermy where they make a fiber glass replica of the animal. You might want to look into that and call someone who does it.

Sorry for the loss, if you can mount her yes do that she will be with you forever this way, I just hope freezing don’t cause gill burns. I know that happens sometimes. 😢 hope that hasn’t happened. I am sorry for your loss. But that would a great way to honor her having her mounted. All they would need to do is have mold made of her body size but after she is finished they could ship to you in New York. Really you should tell Rod to do that with the huge fish he lost to.

Sorry for your loss bro, both you guys have taken a big loss in your mascots passing. But the new chapter is going to be epic and you will have new mascots bigger and even better in time. Fair well LA is was a good 15 years , but Here's to New York and the new possibilities ahead.

There is a really great taxidermist in Port Clinton Ohio. Jim's Taxidermy. I know it may be a bit far from New York but it would be closer than having it done in LA They are fairly close to OFR and I have used them in the past. They do an amazing job on fish because they get a lot of from the fisherman on Lake Erie. Remember good taxidermy is not cheap and takes quite a while.

So sorry to hear about the Fish. There are a few places up here in NY that can make a fiber-glass model of your fish. One in East Islip and one in Oakdale. You may just need a picture and a few measurements.

Damm Man…sorry for the Loss. Both you and Rod losing mascots and very sentimental fish, that are more like Family. I’m not sure what you decided to do but just do what you feel is the right thing to do. Gone but not forgotten in my take on things…Mounting, not mounting…The fish not being forgotten is what’s important 🙏🏻

You should def. find someone to do taxidermy on her and bring her with you to NYC. She would look great mounted and will always be with y’all. Sorry for your loss of the big girl. Have a safe trip back to NYC. Kevin, if you find a hood taxidermist, they can preserve her and mount her in LA and ship her back to you in New York. Most good ones know how to do this and package them good to withstand shipping.

Fatnoid jumped out of that aquarium & hit the floor, right after she was moved/transferred there. Perhaps something went wrong internally (vital organs) that her old age could not handle anymore. 😢
It wasn't the fatnoid that jumped out. The new male was the one that jumped out.
Do a replica mount, you would just need to take measurments and pictures and they can make it for you that way you could do it when you get the time and not have to preserve the fish. Plus they look better and last longer.
Yes get a fiber glass replica, better then mounting and I'm sure someone in Cali does great work.

Yes mount her she deserves to be in NY. I'm so sorry this move has got both you and Rob hard by having to get rid of some fish and the loss of the ones you loved. This is s good move for you guys you will/ can work together
And you can have a day off now and then with no worries and you can grow fish up to amazing sizes again. It's just this move has been hard on you and Rob and getting the new building ready is going to be a lot of work but after that everything should be much better than before. Good luck

It's sad to see a fish go that was the first time I've ever seen her she was a beautiful fish I can see where your wife had a hard time with that one because you know you guys raise that fish together and you've had it since you had your daughter you know that is pretty hard but if you want to mount her on a wall go ahead that's your choice just remember she's there in spirit all the time with you guys she's probably just saying hey old age what can I say you know that's why she's probably saying that right now she was a beautiful fish may she rested in peace

I work at a taxidermy shop in norborne mo. I do a lot of fish so it would be an honor to mount her for you.
Keep her and mount her on your wall someplace to continue being a part of your journey and your family.... That's really sad to hear about, my condolences...🙁
Personally I've always found it creepy to have pets mounted. That's just me though. Everyone mourns in their own way so I'm not going to judge you or anyone else. Do what you feel is best for you. That said, a quote I read in a book (can't remember what book) helped me when my cat, Rylie passed. "There is no death. Only a change of worlds." Not sure if it will help you and your family but I hope it does bring some peace to your family. Sorry for your loss.

You don't need a "taxidermist" as such. Just get an artistic replica done from photos if you want a souvenir. Safe travels with your whole family.

she wasc institutionolized to that life which was her life. my big giraffe catfish ive had years sulked forv 5 days because i changed the substrate but its come around now. she had a great life and obviously wouldnt have made the long journey ahead for her. fish can die because of change without any desease and thats what i think happened to your fish and the same as happened to rods big fish.
personally i wouldnt mount my pet especially as most of it apart from maybe the skull wont even be your fish. it will just be a great piece of art. you wouldnt mount your child or dad etc. thats just my feelings. take care me old mucker ,im so looking forward to your new adventures.

I think you should get it mounted. It will always be a good memory to have her with you, even if she's mounted. Look for a taxidermist who specializes in fish. They can do a skin mount of of the body and they usually get replica head. Or they can do a full replica if they can find a replica body that matches her. If I were you I'd get her mounted.
