My brother got one of these 1960 Nomad Wagons 348 tri-power factory 4 speed posi. Green with green houndstooth pattern interior with power front seat. My Bro got it for a College Grad Present from my Pop in 1971. It was so perfect and cherry like yours.
Wish you would have opened up the "way back"... It's what makes old wagons cool. Wagons have such a stigma - personally, I think they are among the best looking, most practical body style made.
LOVE the car, HATE the wheels. They pull down the overall look, and with all of the work done the door jams need a clean-up or repaint. The carpet looks original or old anyways. It doesn't cost that much to install new carpeting and it makes all the difference.
Learned to drive in one of those, 170 hp three on the tree. It could crawl up to 100 mph, but heavy, softly sprung, not great brakes, not a car you wanted to do that in.
+Doug Cameraman, thanks for the fact check.Appreciate an answer to my question that did'nt call into doubt my sexuality or the species of my mother.BTW this is a good looking car!My favorite was the El Camino though.
1958 was the first year for the 4 door Nomad. My dad bought one new, 2 tone sky blue and white! I remember ridin' around in it as a kid! Calif plate # ICB 800. That was when they switched to the black background yellow letters & numerals license plates in 1963.
2 door with nomad trim on the ceiling inside and on the tailgate ? i only knew of them from 55 - 57 and concept cars. if it's not 2 door it's not a nomad to me, it's fake, pretend, want'a be. it may be really nice and says it's a nomad but it's not the money maker nomad the 55, 56 and 57's are. i wouldn't turn any of them down but i wouldn't pay the big bucks unless it was a tri five nomad.
@@BENNIEDARRELL Similar happenings with lots of car models that began life as eye-catching 2-doors, then sprawled into 4 doors & even wagons. 1st Impala was only a 2-dr coupe & convertible. Same with the 1st 3 Thunderbird years, Chrysler 300, Charger, Buick Roadmaster, Chevy Belair, etc. They all started as 2 doors then blossomed into every-day family haulers. Just like humans, 2 young newlyweds cruising the National Parks in a Corvette. A few years later a family of 4 in an Equinox looking for a close-in spot in Walmart's parking lot.
@@BENNIEDARRELL " not the money maker " , yep GM lost their shirts selling the two door Nomads . They sold more four door Nomads in ,1958 , than they did during all three years of two door production . The four door version was way more convenient, which resulted in better sales .
@@bobbrinkerhoff3592 All accurate, excellent points. To add a couple more here, the Nomad was a "halo" car indulgence GM had with the '55'-'57 which were the model years for which the 2-door Nomad was designed for. By halo, I meant a glamourous wagon that would bring people into Chevy showrooms where they would buy one of the practical wagons. The Nomad was impractical being a 2-door, very luxurious which went against (really) what wagons were about. Also the beautiful glass treatment lent the cars to being hotter in warm weather, while the high price left most buyers cold. They were quite expensive for the time.
That's NOT a Nomad - it has 4 doors. Nomads have 2, that's what makes them Nomads and not just another station wagon. I was going to include a link or two to real Nomads, but I keep finding '58 4 door wagons being called "Nomads" This is number4!! This is getting RIDICULOUS!!
Nomads after 1958 were 4 doors. Nomads were designated top of line wagons . No specific engine option . Just extras were trim the same as impalas after 58.my dad had a flawless 60 red and white. 6 banger cool.
Nice restoration modification and thanks for keeping the original steering wheel.
I love it except for those wheels and tires. Nicely done.
I AGREE, THE MAGS RUIN IT, PUT THE OTHER WHEELS/TIRES ON IT. AND LOWER THE FRONT END 2-3 INCHES, OTHERWISE AWESOME!

Thanks for sharing this video.👍
absolutely lovely car!

You got such an awesome job.
I Love it! Just the way it is.

Your sure come up with some carzy cool cars ....
Does the rear door open sir . Nice wagon
My Dad had a 1956 Nomad and trade it in for a 1961 Nomad same color , 9 passanger wagon. I believe it was Felix Chevrolet in L.A. Calif.
I can live with the 4 doors, but it's not a Nomad without the tailgate chrome bars.
High end professional paint job. Didn't paint the door jambs though. OK !

Why call it a Nomad Wagon when it clearly has 4 doors?
nomad came in both 2 and 4 doors, my 1st car was this car in green
GENERAL MAYHEM Because the Nomads did come with 4 doors later in the production of the Wagon
'55 to '57 Nomads were all 2 doors... the 4 door Nomads came later.

it's not an impala and i didn't know there were nomads after 57, nomads are 2 door with nomad trim
There are definitely nomads after '57.

Those wheels and tires belong on an orange 1991 Buick.
I owned on of these and did not know that a 20mph rear collision is all it takes to incinerate everyone in the car.
I bet you don't run with scissors.
No that's a 4 door , clearly a station wagon. But it's nice
you can't call it original or mint. it's nice and beautiful though.
Who would do all that engine, suspension work if it were truly a low mile survivor? Not many sir...
NOMAD ? I DON'T THINK SO !
To bad some idiot took out the original 348 engine.

Wrong. It's real. Do your homework before you spout off.
