  • No Longer Slaves Live On Tour In Beaumont, TX! The video is from my Gopro and the audio is from my monitor mix feeding into the Gopro (monitor engineer KT Aguilar). This is a fun behind-the-scenes look and listen to what I hear when we play live (instruments, leaders, click, cues, MD, etc). Note: the Gopro is slightly coloring the audio with some limiting [and slight distortion at times]. More of this content on the way, so subscribe if you like it! Enjoyyy.

      Yup but one thing you have to take into account is that he has another guitarist backing him up. They both split up the parts to fill up the space. If you’re the only guitarist you may need to cover more ground.

    I have a question, the tempo texture comes from a plugin? or a DAW?

    • @isaacpek4018
      @isaacpek4018 2 роки тому +1

      I believe it is from ableton DAW’s default click textures, however it seems like it’s tuned down probably so as to not clash with the other instruments so it can be heard clearly in the mix.

    • @DavidHislop
      @DavidHislop  2 роки тому +1

    How do you guys split parts between the two guitarists for songs you didn’t personally write/make the parts for, do y’all just follow the parts allocated in multi tracks or do you and the other electric player discuss? Because I’m realising how much I overplay the more I watch your IEM videos.

    • @DavidHislop
      @DavidHislop  2 роки тому +6

      For songs that aren’t ours, we usually learn them and spit the parts up and may slightly modify them. Sometimes people produce a song and put a million guitar parts in it that are buried in the mix, virtually accomplishing nothing, so in that instance we will play the parts that we think make the song the strongest and may modify or add parts if needed.
      The biggest thing to not over playing is listen to the rest of the band, don’t clash with the vocal but support it, and think about it from a FOH/producer prospective. Less is more in a lot of cases to fill the mix in the best way and when you play something special it makes what you play pop more. I try to play like I am always tracking for an album (because a lot of times we are lol). I want everything to sound really dialed in and intentional - especially spontaneous moments. Hope that helps!

    How can I get a longer sustain on my guitar like yours? Whenever I play the notes seem to die out too fast. I use a Fender strat with a light noise gate just to lower single coil hums. Removing the noise gate isn't an option as the hum is very noticeable in the mix at my church. Even with overdrives and adjusting amp gain the notes still die out quick :( I am not sure if it is an issue with my pickups or hardware. Any tips?

    Does your monitor guy have the capability to put tuning on the vocals to really tighten stuff up?

    • @DavidHislop
      @DavidHislop  2 роки тому

      Possibly but we want the singers to hear how their pitch is so they don’t rely on it. We don’t run autotune at FOH or monitors.

    • @DavidHislop
      @DavidHislop  2 роки тому

      It sounds like the level is too hot feeding into the recording device. You’ll need to lower the input gain so it doesn’t clip/distort.
