Bruce MacDuffee here. My wife and I belonged to the Salinas Sand Bugs in the early 70s. We lived in Santa Cruz, CA, and towed my Chevy sand rail with a 1968 VW bus with a 350 hp 327 Chevy in the middle.
My pops and uncle were apart of the Sand Slingers Back in the 70's and 80's maybe even before that. My uncle owned/ran a buggy parts store out of Turlock. We went to Sand Mountain, Pismo, and Glamis.

What a time we had back then. My pops raced a sidewinder names Horn E. Hair. In the 70s sand drags. 2180 100 mph in 100 yds
