Yesterday I signed up for a 7 days free trial, and I was looking for tutorials. You made me understand the reason why you need to name every project. I decided to subscribe to your channel. Like your work man.
I’m using the free trial. Good video. I also do not use their music because most of it is copyrighted and Envato does not white label the music for their subscribers the way Epidemic Sounds or Artlist does so I just use them for music needs. I used a song from envato elements on a UA-cam video I made which was a short film and after a year and 40k views the music owner started using content id and began getting part of my ad sense revenue. I just decided to delete the entire video. The song was only 15 seconds of an 8 minute video.
Thanks for helping me decide for Envato. I just bought my first yearly subscription through your affiliate link as a gratitude to you. Hope to fulfill the purpose of freelancing with graphic and web-design.
How does the YEARLY subscription work?! Do they charge your bank for a 1 time payment for $198 for the year or do they charge $16.50 a MONTH till it sums up to $198
Great video but what I don't get is this, let's say I want to download a few stock videos to use them on a single video. And I download all of them for the same project. How does Envato knows the UA-cam video link since it is still in the making? Do I go back when video is done and specify the link? Sorry if it sounds stupid!
No, it’s a great question. Envato doesn’t know. The license is there in case someone challenges your rights to use the asset but Envato isn’t out looking for it. But yes, you could return to the license and put a link in it if you wanted.
Very helpful video. Thanks. Could you please tell me if the video templates can be used with any editing software or just the ones listed (After Effects, Premiere Pro, etc)? Thanks.
Hey there! There’s not a “manage projects” page. But, and I failed to cover this I realize, you can go to your “my downloads” section. It will show you every download you’ve done and which projects they’re licensed to. From there you can quickly add a license to any download you’ve already made. The only pain is if you downloaded it a long time ago you may have to scroll through a lot of downloads to find it. Hope that helps. Sorry I didn’t cover that.
@@Brandon-3D Hello Brandon, can you help me solve my problem, please? I am about to publish six videos, so I created six projects for my downloaded content. Great video but I didn't get the answer I was looking for: I need one of the 2-minute tracks to use for a podcast intro. Can I either make a 1-time purchase or get it from the free trial? Can I "keep" it if cancel the trial membership?
Hi and thank you! So, anything you download during the trial version (which wasn't an option when I created the video btw) appears to have the same license which means you can use it for one end product per download. Envato Market allows you to purchase items individually but the individual license also generally covers one end product. So, that's as much as I can help you and I'm sorry it's not as clear as you probably wanted. I will say, I started using Envato doubting I would get enough benefit from it to justify the purchase. Since having it, I've found so many more uses for it than I expected that I can't imaging not having it. But, I also know that might not be the same for everyone. Best of luck, and I'm sorry I couldn't be any more help.

Hi there, Before I commit (via your link, so you get a cut, only fair) I 'm making a short film: if I register all downloaded clips/assets/music/sound effects etc to this short film project, am I right in saying that the film may then be legally distributed without copyright infringement on DVD, shown at festivals, used for streaming etc...basically everything someone would do with a film?
@@Brandon-3D Hey man, thank you for the reply. You know, I thought I'd check the license info to be safe, just prior to pulling the trigger on it....and the license is a little unclear, sadly. I don't understand. If I add an asset to a video project and then give envato a project name... how do they track that? How do they know where my project exists online? How do they know that that project has licensing for it?
Hi Tom, you get a license you can keep, download or give to a client. I don’t think anyone is proactively tracking anything. But let’s say your video goes viral and there’s an element an artist thinks you stole. You would have the license with the project name on it to defend against a copyright claim. I’m yet to know anyone who’s needed to do that though. As for music, if it’s on a UA-cam video and the music has a content ID tracking it could flag the video on UA-cam and you’d have to show the license to clear the flag - which is admittedly annoying.
Hi there! Thank you! I have seen some videos on UA-cam saying you can call a “series” a single end product but I can’t find anything on envato’s licensing agreement that says that’s ok. I’ve used assets in multiple UA-cam videos (like the subscribe animation) and I try to license it every time. I’ve probably forgotten on a couple.
What if I do a UA-cam Let's play series of 50 videos and want to use some elements like a button animation. Do I need to register that 50 times for each video or is my youtube series the "project" ?
This is something I wish they’d be more clear on. I have been adding a license for each video. It sounds like a pain but it hasn’t been so bad. I doubt you’d get in trouble for doing one license for the series though.
Great. Can i use envato video previews still having the watermark, to create youtube videos? Will there be copyright claims from youtube or will i be unable to monetize my account too
I just got the free week. I noticed the watermarks on all the stock videos. Will the watermarks go away once my subscription starts after the free week?
Although I never did the free trial (wasn't available when I started) my understanding is you get the FULL rights for a week. You shouldn't have watermarks. I would try to re-download and make sure you have registered it to a project too.
What if I've downloaded a transition effect. Does this mean I have to apply a license to every video the transition is used in or does that work differently?
Unfortunately I believe that is technically how it works. Each “end product” has to be registered so the creator gets paid. I have several I use over and over again but I just go back and add a project to the license. Annoying but not the end of the world.
@@Brandon-3D That's insane. I understand the reasoning behind it but they definitely need an account integration or something. Imagine doing this for common sound effects, especially if you're adding a decent amount in each video..

Hi! If you’re looking to be an author and have your music available on Envato Elements, you’ll need to follow the process to become one. I haven’t tried that, but here is a link to their page about it: author.envato.com
@@Brandon-3D sorry my question probably was not as clear as I thought. This is what I meant to say. If I download a video from Envato can I take my own music I produced and add it to the video clip to play through? or do I have to use what Envato has in their library?
@@drebeatproductions1 oh gotcha. Yeah you can integrate elements into your other work however you want. Just follow the licensing rules each time you make a new “end product”
Yes, absolutely! Everything has a license for commercial use, which is exactly what you’re describing. What you can’t do would be give the customer the PSD file with the add on accessible for them to use or otherwise transfer the action to somebody else.
@@Brandon-3D ok but on the envato FAQ page on licensing it says when asking if you can create unique designs to add to merchandise - Yes, you can, as long as skill and effort have been applied to incorporate the items into a larger design and where the primary value of the product itself doesn’t lie in the item itself (for example, you can’t print an image out as a poster, as the primary value of the poster is from the image itself). I want to sell canvas prints from customer photos but apply an envato action to their photo. I would also like them to be able to add in their own personalized text to it and the envato site also says - Can I use an Envato Elements item in an end product where a customer can manipulate that end product directly? (eg: A customer can add their name to a t-shirt that features a graphic made using an Envato Elements item)? Not allowed. *In this scenario the end customer is creating a new end product with the item which is not allowed. So my question is can I market a service where a customer sends me their photo. I take that photo and manipulate it using an envato action and then add maybe the customers name to it. have it printed on a canvas or a poster and send it off? I cant tell if im breaking a rule based on this weird language?
Also on the site.... You can’t use an Item for merchandising, which means an End Product created using that Item where the primary value of the product lies in the Item itself, including: an End Product where the Item serves as its core component, and where without the incorporation of the Item it would not fundamentally differ from any other product of similar nature and use; and/or an End Product where the incorporation of the Item is what makes the product fundamentally unique and valuable, and is the main driving factor for the sale of the End Product. For clarity, End Products where skill and effort have been applied to incorporate the Item into a larger design (such as with text and other graphics/images) or used as product packaging are not considered merchandising and are allowed. For example you can’t print an image out as a poster and sell copies of that poster, as the primary value of the poster is from the image itself. However, you can print an image as a book cover and sell copies of that book, as the primary value of the book is from the writing/contents of the book and not the image itself.
@@jaspercoutu489 I’m very certain you’re good doing that. For the first part, what they don’t want you doing is taking something like a graphic straight from envato, throwing it on a tee shirt and selling the shirt…you’re really just selling their design on the shirt. The second part, what they’re explaining you can’t do is allow other people to use their stuff without paying for it. So, if you made a design using their graphics or another element (such as an addon) and then gave the project file where the customer could directly extract the envato element for future use.
This is what I’d focus on, from that page and they specifically talk about add-ones: Can I use add-ons and other materials to create unique designs and sell them on t-shirts, mugs, cushions, etc? Yes, you can, as long as skill and effort have been applied to incorporate the items into a larger design and where the primary value of the product itself doesn’t lie in the item itself (for example, you can’t print an image out as a poster, as the primary value of the poster is from the image itself).

when you use third party graphics in a business, you need to include the terms of the third party license into your licensing. To do it right your gonna need a lawyer.
Hello! Tell me about copyright, if anyone knows, I understand that if I download a template for example business cards and put it on the Etsy marketplace, I get a ban for copyright? And if I replace any elements on this template, it is unique?
Hi there! The templates and all other assets can’t be transferred or given away as is. They are tools to use to create end products which you’ve added “substantial value” to. The point is for you to use the tools to make things either for yourself or others but not to redistribute the original items.
@@Brandon-3D Do I understand you correctly that if I do not sell the original template as downloaded, and remake them, it would not be a copyright infringement? Thank you in advance!
Yeah that’s the price if you pay for a whole year up front. I don’t believe you could cancel and get a partial refund. The $30 is the month to month price.
Hello! If you sign up, you’ll have access to all of the stock video. I don’t know that many of them are longer than a minute though. Most I’ve seen are up to a minute but I of course haven’t looked at all of them. Hope that helps. There is now a free 7 day trial.
hi, please I have question Can I use the designs I purchased in products that I sell, for example, if I buy a flower design and use it to design a cover for the notebooks I sell, is this a normal thing?
Hi Mira! So, you can definitely use a design from Envato Elements and incorporate it into your work to sell on physical products. But, you must be either incorporating it into a larger work or significantly adding some value other than just the design you download. What they don't want you to do is just take an image or design from the website, slap it on a notebook and sell it. I hope that makes sense and based off how you worded the question, I think what you're looking to do it perfectly good under their license.
@@miramira8128 So, there may be a little gray area here, and I'm not a lawyer, but my interpretation would be that when you create the design for the book, you've created the end product. The notebooks could continue to be sold after a subscription ends. But you definitely can not incorporate any elements onto new designs or place that design on new products once the subscription has ended.
@@Brandon-3D Thank you I searched a long time for this, because I was afraid to use the designs and found the answers you have, but this is very difficult I can subscribe once or twice because it is very expensive so I downloaded many elements, they are probably useless now.

Excellent video, thanks. You answered many of my questions
So great to hear, thank you and if you’ve chosen to try it, enjoy!

Can I use\upload my own music I create?
Am I allowed to use an add on like a photo shop action to use on a customers photo and then sell him the new design using the envato action?
Yes, absolutely! Everything has a license for commercial use, which is exactly what you’re describing. What you can’t do would be give the customer the PSD file with the add on accessible for them to use or otherwise transfer the action to somebody else.
@@Brandon-3D ok but on the envato FAQ page on licensing it says when asking if you can create unique designs to add to merchandise -
Yes, you can, as long as skill and effort have been applied to incorporate the items into a larger design and where the primary value of the product itself doesn’t lie in the item itself (for example, you can’t print an image out as a poster, as the primary value of the poster is from the image itself).
I want to sell canvas prints from customer photos but apply an envato action to their photo.
I would also like them to be able to add in their own personalized text to it and the envato site also says -
Can I use an Envato Elements item in an end product where a customer can manipulate that end product directly? (eg: A customer can add their name to a t-shirt that features a graphic made using an Envato Elements item)?
Not allowed.
*In this scenario the end customer is creating a new end product with the item which is not allowed.
So my question is can I market a service where a customer sends me their photo. I take that photo and manipulate it using an envato action and then add maybe the customers name to it. have it printed on a canvas or a poster and send it off? I cant tell if im breaking a rule based on this weird language?
Also on the site....
You can’t use an Item for merchandising, which means an End Product created using that Item where the primary value of the product lies in the Item itself, including:
an End Product where the Item serves as its core component, and where without the incorporation of the Item it would not fundamentally differ from any other product of similar nature and use; and/or
an End Product where the incorporation of the Item is what makes the product fundamentally unique and valuable, and is the main driving factor for the sale of the End Product.
This is what I’d focus on, from that page and they specifically talk about add-ones:
Can I use add-ons and other materials to create unique designs and sell them on t-shirts, mugs, cushions, etc?
Yes, you can, as long as skill and effort have been applied to incorporate the items into a larger design and where the primary value of the product itself doesn’t lie in the item itself (for example, you can’t print an image out as a poster, as the primary value of the poster is from the image itself).
So does it charge my BANK the $16.50 a month when I subscribe or does it charge $198 ?
If you sign up for monthly it will charge the monthly price every month. If you sign up for an annual subscription it charges the discounted $198 once a year.

If I use some assets for my client, can my client use that final video in different platform ( and maybe part of the video for different purpose) ?

when you use third party graphics in a business, you need to include the terms of the third party license into your licensing.

Thank you in advance!
love it your video
Hey, there are 2 prices, $16 and $30 per Month. Can you cancel the 16 dollar a month plan after a few months or is it a 1 year commitment?
Yeah that’s the price if you pay for a whole year up front. I don’t believe you could cancel and get a partial refund. The $30 is the month to month price.
Hi Brandon, will I be able to get LONG DURATION (e.g. more than a minute) stock footage videos after I subscribe on envato?
Hello! If you sign up, you’ll have access to all of the stock video. I don’t know that many of them are longer than a minute though. Most I’ve seen are up to a minute but I of course haven’t looked at all of them. Hope that helps. There is now a free 7 day trial.
@@Brandon-3D Thanks Brandon. Do you happen to know where I could get long duration (licensed) wildlife videos?
Excellent.
hi, please I have question Can I use the designs I purchased in products that I sell, for example, if I buy a flower design and use it to design a cover for the notebooks I sell, is this a normal thing?
@@Brandon-3D And if my subscription ends, will I stop using the designs I downloaded?
@@miramira8128 So, there may be a little gray area here, and I'm not a lawyer, but my interpretation would be that when you create the design for the book, you've created the end product. The notebooks could continue to be sold after a subscription ends. But you definitely can not incorporate any elements onto new designs or place that design on new products once the subscription has ended.
@@Brandon-3D Thank you I searched a long time for this, because I was afraid to use the designs and found the answers you have, but this is very difficult I can subscribe once or twice because it is very expensive so I downloaded many elements, they are probably useless now.
@@Brandon-3D yeah i had this question too and wondered what is considered 'larger work' or 'adding significant value'? I'm creating wall art with added text but may only want to use one visual element I've licensed - do you know how they clarify these terms?

Hey can i ask you a question . I have a staging site that crashed with the theme license key so can not start again and i cant access the theme license. Do i just get another license key and start again ?
Yep, just get another one!
?@@Brandon-3D how? Ive been told conflicting stories. And now trying to contact the author of the theme to get some helps. Such a lengthy process. My client had bought the theme, cant seem to send the zip files so she’s actually uploaded it to wp dashboard. But then all this happened. So im hoping the author of the theme can get back to me with good news . As it seems like i may have to buy another theme if not… or get the zip files. Which would simply annoy the client
@@3rdtwirl494 If it’s an asset available on envato elements and you have a subscription, just download it and create a new project at the download with your client’s name. You’ll get a new license. Sorry I don’t know much about web design specifically.
@@Brandon-3D i would but my client has the log in details as she was unable to send a zip file so she uploaded the theme in the end. Presumably she can refresh the license ?
This process took a week. I finally have the full theme build freshly installed. And now waiting another three days so far to get assistance as to why any modifications i do are not saving. This really sucks !
BEWARE - VERY Difficult to unsubscribe. I started the "Free Trial" - decided it was not for me at the time. They make it VERY DIFFICULT to unsubscribe. You cannot unsubscribe real time yourself. You have to put in a request. Then you get a warning that it may take them 5 days to respond which would be past your free period. You also cannot just delete your credit card info. This is HORRIBLE customer service if you ask me.
I did not realize that. I’ve never unsubscribed. Thank you for sharing.
That's why I use virtual debit cards without overdraft. It always bounces when services try to renew without my permission and my bank does not care

that's not right, stay away from epidemic sound, I subscribed before, during the time i was subscribed i had no problem, but after I ended up my subscription, all my videos that I used with their music got flagged. so better stay away from this epidemic sound.
What is up with the talking in music
You mean where every few seconds they say the brand? That’s like an audio watermark to try to keep people from stealing the music without paying for it. When you’ve paid and download a licensed copy it does not have that on it.

Hi! and thank you so much for this video!
Quick question: I'm creating video content for a client to use on their instagram and facebook pages. Do I need to do anything before they post the end product? Or just send them the license text?
