    Dale Jr hit the nail on the head when he said some of the teams have taken charter out of context and they think it's a franchise but it's not. Owning a NASCAR charter isn't like owning a professional sports team. The charter just guarantees entry into all the races. There is a profit sharing element to it but it's still not a franchise.

      Exactly! It's essentially an assurance to potential and existing sponsors that their car will be on the track at every race.

    I feel so bad for Bowman. I grew up a Jeff Gordon fan, so I root for all the Hendrick drivers, but I find myself especially rooting for Bowman. He's a likeable, talented guy who scratched and clawed to get where he is. If he was driving for any other team than Hendrick, no one would be talking about pulling him from his ride.

    Thank God those rumors about my favorite driver Alex Bowman officially has been shut down, in reality his win at the streets of Chicago should be calm down anything and Ally has always supported him the last couple years.
    But everyone need to understand that Alex Bowman and the 48 team have had a lot of struggles during this regular season to keep the 48 car to the front last race at Atlanta he was running inside the top 10 all day and his car felt really good. I hope before the 2025 season starts the team needs to go into a rebuild and he needs adapt more to this Next-gen car as improve.

    Eric, you are missing a big stipulation. Those that sign this new contract cannot talk bad about NASCAR, so anyone that signed is not gonna say anything negative or what’s really on their mind, they have to go with it because they signed so what they are saying is maybe not what they really want to say.

      @@brandonwray7260 Proof? When the heck did this channel, or any other gossip driven channel, actually require proof for any statement they make? Precedent alone would tell you that NASCAR is demanding this of everyone that signs the charter agreement let alone the fact that it was in a previous iteration of the contract. Listen to how the DBC guys were talking this week, they were afraid to even get close to the topic because they have been warned about speaking disparagingly about NASCAR. This is how old-heads work, they fear "speaking things into existence" so it's best to keep everyone's mouth shut and guys like Hamlin are their worst nightmare. If only a few more teams would have held out, we could have sat out Daytona and then see where the cards fell. If NASCAR truly wants outside investment, this is just the tip of the iceberg so they better get used to real world negotiations and not their typical "good ol' boy", backroom bargaining techniques that have gotten them to this point. So disappointed in the teams as a collective as now they are stuck with this for another 6 years.

    Eric, you may not remember but GMAC sponsored Ricky Hendrick in the truck & Xfinity series before he was killed in the plane crash. After the recession of 08 & 09 (bad home loans), GMAC filed for a pre-packaged bankruptcy on May 14, 2012 that included the separation of the company from its parent, Ally Financial. So in reality Ally have been sponsoring Hendrick since 1993 as GMAC & now ALLY. In 2009, GMAC Bank was rebranded as Ally Bank, and in 2010, GMAC rebranded itself as Ally Financial.

    23XI is allowed to race without a charter, right? They can win a championship without a charter? All that charter guarantees is a starting spot and a higher payout percentage. NASCAR didn’t collude with another race series. I'm not an expert on Anti-Trust (althou I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night) but I don't see a valid lawsuit. Any team with or without a charter is treated the same and must follow the same rules.
    **Also, I keep seeing comments about Hendrick being given 4 charters. NASCAR handed out 36 charters. Not just to Hendrick or Gibbs or Childress or Penske or Wood Brothers...

    • @thicccheese4007
      @thicccheese4007 Місяць тому +3

      Yes but no. Theoretically a non-chartered team can be playoff eligible but if they fail to qualify for even 1 race NASCAR will pull some petty bullshit and not grant a waiver. All it would take is 1 bad qualifying run, 1 mechanical failure, 1 unlucky weather conditions during qualifying to prevent the team from attending the race and making them ineligible for the playoffs because rules say you must be in every single race during the season… unless you’re a driver for Hendrick then rules are merely just a suggestion.
      The Daytona 500 would be your biggest challenge as you have to race your way in. It’s a superspeedway, bullshit big ones happen all the time. It’s essentially luck based to even have a start to your season, something I doubt sponsors would be on board with and drivers would be very hesitant about joining a team with that much pressure all year long.

    I think what separates HMS from 23XI is perspective. Rick Hendrick knows his team will be a staple of the sport for the next 5-7 years at least. He'd like to get a bigger cut of the pie and more control over how it's made, but he knows he's getting his slice either way. 23XI is on a lot shakier footing. They've come in and made a name for themselves, but they're still upstarts trying to fight and claw for scraps left over by the big dogs. In 5-7 years, they could be 2 or 3 time champions, or they could fall off a cliff. If they don't get themselves on the best possible footing now, they may never have the chance to be big dogs themselves one day. Or at least, that's how they see it.

They’re going to have pretty well young drivers like Alex Bowman and William Byron and Larson Larson and Chase Elliott Elliott to have Henri more sports going down the right path to successto success and to be really well in the sport so let’s go they finally I’m glad they signed our deal deal so that’s good

    Yeah, but will Alex Bowman be in the 48 next year?(sarcasm) Anyway, I don't know enough to be able to talk about the charter stuff in any detail. And I leave that to those who are in it. I'll just say that, earlier in the year, Denny decided to make himself the most vocal representative of the owners. Whether that was welcome or not was never clear and I saw indications other owners were never fully on the same page as Denny. For example, Denny would say things and be adversarial in his comments, but then when I heard the occasional comment from others, like Brad, I got the impression that they weren't behind everything Denny was pushing for. So it doesn't surprise me now that Denny is almost on his own in this situation. What is interesting to me is that Front Row didn't sign. 23XI was looking to add a third team, but didn't get a charter because of the negotiations. FRM did buy a charter, but also didn't sign. Their reasons for not signing may be very different. I wouldn't be surprised if FRM not signing is over some fairly small things.
