Dale Jr hit the nail on the head when he said some of the teams have taken charter out of context and they think it's a franchise but it's not. Owning a NASCAR charter isn't like owning a professional sports team. The charter just guarantees entry into all the races. There is a profit sharing element to it but it's still not a franchise.
SHR and JGR had to pay rob Kauffman for one of their charters even though their 41 and 19 cars had already been around for over a year at the time the charters were created.

I feel so bad for Bowman. I grew up a Jeff Gordon fan, so I root for all the Hendrick drivers, but I find myself especially rooting for Bowman. He's a likeable, talented guy who scratched and clawed to get where he is. If he was driving for any other team than Hendrick, no one would be talking about pulling him from his ride.
Thank God those rumors about my favorite driver Alex Bowman officially has been shut down, in reality his win at the streets of Chicago should be calm down anything and Ally has always supported him the last couple years. But everyone need to understand that Alex Bowman and the 48 team have had a lot of struggles during this regular season to keep the 48 car to the front last race at Atlanta he was running inside the top 10 all day and his car felt really good. Eric, you are missing a big stipulation. Those that sign this new contract cannot talk bad about NASCAR, so anyone that signed is not gonna say anything negative or what’s really on their mind, they have to go with it because they signed so what they are saying is maybe not what they really want to say.
@@brandonwray7260 Proof? When the heck did this channel, or any other gossip driven channel, actually require proof for any statement they make? Non-disparagement agreements, if there is one in this case, are typically narrowly interpreted. So if there is one it doesn’t mean Hendrick can’t reasonably disagree with NASCAR. It just means he can’t damage the brand with disparaging remarks.

Honestly there needs to be a budget cap. That would be huge in helping bringing costs down. Also Hendrick, Penske, and Gibbs should have lower caps plus reduced wind tunnel $ CFD time.
Everyone that's taken NASCAR to court has found out that NASCAR is well connected legally in the court system. It's never worked out for anyone, at least not in the South. Maybe if someone could sue with standing in a different venue maybe they'd stand a chance to be heard on legal grounds.
@@matthewjohnston1400 except that's the entire point of "charters," which the teams currently hold, but according to NASCAR, don't own, which makes their collective bargaining agreement for shared profits worthless if either NASCAR deems it so, or the teams don't hold together like high strength epoxy!
23XI doesn't have to win a court case though. They might just want to get them through discovery and force them to open their books. Nascar has gone to great lengths to avoid this and what comes out publicly can give teams enormous ammo for the next time they have to do this type of negotiating.
I hear over n over again Denny saying they don’t value us. Sounds a lot like more money then opinion on changes of the car. Denny and Jordan not going to get 55 percent. Remember nascar will be fine with out Jordan n Denny
At least Eric didn’t say “grinded” ! He has said this word the last couple of episodes, it really grinds my gears when it is used. Ground is the correct word to use.
I've never understood the Bowman hate. Guy is good for 1-2 wins a year and at least a round of 12 playoff run assuming he is healthy. He has a happy sponsor and there isn't a sure fire superstar to replace him. Also historically Hendrick has a "4th car" that is lucky to win one race a year and its pretty clear Bowman is that car. So i mean he may statistically be mildly over performing the historic norm.
To me I feel like maybe 23Xl is maybe asking for too much. They say they are gonna wait for a new deal but you most likely are not gonna get a better deal cause then the other teams are gonna to back on that charter agreement and say why did they get better deals.
1:15 I'm happy to see Carrera pushing the marketing on these. Carrera is my main hobby and what you can do with digital slot car racing is far under appreciated by young adults my age. Was super pumped when they finally announced NASCAR and with my driver Byron. I really hope the sell well and encourage making some Toyota and Ford Next Gens. I've been waiting a long time for this moment.
One big option on the table was team ownership for NASCAR. If NASCAR ends up owning teams, they will eventually buy up teams that fail or move on. By doing this over the long term they end up owning all teams. This allows them to control everything and make all the money themselves. Don’t believe this conspiracy? Look at NASCAR track ownership.
I definitely believe NASCAR would love to get rid of the teams, no pesky car owners begging for better charter deals, no rich car owners who can out spend the smaller teams with faster cars, NASCAR could manipulate the racing even more by giving the storyline drivers a better car, and it would truly a IROC and it would suck big time.
Why? Because they don't have to deal with the fallout of the new deal in 4-8 years when they already retired and far away from daily operations while theirs successors will struggling with the France family bs.
When Hendrick, Gibbs and Penski signed it was a done deal. 23/11 and Front Row can move on as non charter teams, NASCAR has a better advantage now since they missed the deadline. They buffed now they will be on hand and knee, but for as long as I can remember it's the France family sandbox and you can play their game or get out.
They have to go to court if they can’t reach some compromise, otherwise no reason to do it at all, NASCAR,has the revoke threat they have the court threat……if they revoke the charter from those teams they WILL go to court…..
The charter agreement vote was 13 to 2 so I guess majority doesn't mean anything. The sponsors "Ally" likes Hendrick Motorsports and Alex and I am glad to see Rick Hendrick made the right choice on keeping Alex in the 48 car for 2025.
I’m happy that Alex Bowman will be back in the 48 car for next year because he’s definitely the right person well although right person to be with Henrik motorsports to lead Henri motorsports in the right path. They’re going to have pretty well young drivers like Alex Bowman and William Byron and Larson Larson and Chase Elliott Elliott to have Henri more sports going down the right path to successto success and to be really well in the sport so let’s go they finally I’m glad they signed our deal deal so that’s good

Who do I believe, Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports, saying that Bowman will be in the 48 next year, or some random person on the internet who claims Bowman is out… Tough decision
Let's address the elephant in the room... NASCAR is the one at a severe disadvantage.. because they're dealing with Michael Jordan and Bubba Wallace, THE two main players in their sport that they cannot afford to "ban", "lose", etc. the publicity would destroy NASCAR's reputation, they will not risk it😮 Denny and Michael will get the deal sweetened for everybody and then everybody can say You're welcome😊
Yeah, but will Alex Bowman be in the 48 next year?(sarcasm) Anyway, I don't know enough to be able to talk about the charter stuff in any detail. And I leave that to those who are in it. I'll just say that, earlier in the year, Denny decided to make himself the most vocal representative of the owners. Whether that was welcome or not was never clear and I saw indications other owners were never fully on the same page as Denny. For example, Denny would say things and be adversarial in his comments, but then when I heard the occasional comment from others, like Brad, I got the impression that they weren't behind everything Denny was pushing for. So it doesn't surprise me now that Denny is almost on his own in this situation. What is interesting to me is that Front Row didn't sign. 23XI was looking to add a third team, but didn't get a charter because of the negotiations. FRM did buy a charter, but also didn't sign. Their reasons for not signing may be very different. I wouldn't be surprised if FRM not signing is over some fairly small things.
I meant his car dealerships and the financial arm of his company. Jeff Gordon said it last year with all the wins and Championships Hendrick MOTORSPORTS hasn't turned a profit in year's
@@louislepage5111 I heard Jeff Gordon say RH motor sports hasn’t made a profit in years. That doesn’t mean Rick , Jeff and other employees didn’t get paid , it means the corporation hasn’t made money. Jeff Gordon didn’t sign on to RHM thinking he wasn’t going to be paid. That would be dumb. Executives as well as employees get paid. Leftovers go to corporation or stock holders. I do wonder why Stewart Haas closed shop. Was Tony just tired of fooling with NASCAR. He has always vented his frustration with them.

Rick knows he going to lose money, has done it for years. Rick isn't in racing to make money, he's in racing because he loves it. Rick said himself, he sells cars so he can go racing.
I want to see a legal challenge, and I want this to go to court. This then leads to discovery, and we and the team owners get a look inside what the monopoly of NASCAR is actually hiding.
of course Eric is promoting Hendrick cars, because he’s a fan! 🤣 Ok I’m joking, ik you’re not biased towards Hendrick. And ricks quotes where very interesting, one things for sure this charter drama isn’t over just yet.
Bowman was leading in points and I believe finished top 10 13/15 times in the first 15 races last year. He had a rough season with his injury and this is his first season fully with this cries chief.
I agree. Michael Jordan knew what the system was when he came in just 4 years ago. Now he wants to change the system to where he is worth more money. Because he knows what a franchise in other sports is worth
Fact is that the majority of teams caved to the bully nascar. The concept of SOLIDARITY completely escapes them. A six hour ultimatum is a ridiculous failure to bargain in good faith. I am no longer a Hendrick fan.
Kyle Busch already raced at Hendrick and left unhappy and verbally said what was wrong at Hendrick that caused the problems. Hendrick also brought in Darell Wsltrip known as Jaws, because of his cockiness and mouthiness in his early years of his career.
Of course the biggest teams signed. They get the biggest pieces of the pie. Their 4 teams get in the playoffs and get bigger percentage for the next 2 years.
DBC said Hendrick has more than 4 drivers under contract for ‘25 and that no one is yet announced for the 7. Eluding to the fact that whoever the “5th” HMS driver is or Alex bowman will fill that seat…. So my question is who the F is the 5th driver at hendrick?! I’ve been racking my brains all week!

Ferko lawsuit???
Perhaps NASCAR is just on solid legal ground. They own the organization after all.
@@matthewjohnston1400 except that's the entire point of "charters," which the teams currently hold, but according to NASCAR, don't own, which makes their collective bargaining agreement for shared profits worthless if either NASCAR deems it so, or the teams don't hold together like high strength epoxy!
@@johnlafever3162 it’s just a supply management scheme, like egg quotas. It’s not a collective bargaining agreement and nor should it be.
QUESTION: What is the France family’s exit plan when the next generation isn’t up to running NASCAR? What then? Tim in northern TN
So i mean he may statistically be mildly over performing the historic norm.
a signature is BINDING
Slot cars are fun. But have you seen the new NASCAR RC line up of Losi cars? Horizon Hobby put them out and sponsor the #34 cup car.
180.00 bucks RTR.
Conspiracy time: Rick Hendrick was going to sign whatever charter deal put in front of him and play ball with NASCAR in exchange for Larson's waiver
2311 might not have a charter in 2025 and going forward
DBC still says that is a rumor and that Hendrick has 5 drivers signed
I think that's total drivers. Xfinity and cup. Sort of like trackhouse deal with svg and Zane smith deal.
Hi Eric Estepp I never miss a single episode 😊❤
They have to go to court if they can’t reach some compromise, otherwise no reason to do it at all, NASCAR,has the revoke threat they have the court threat……if they revoke the charter from those teams they WILL go to court…..
The charter agreement vote was 13 to 2 so I guess majority doesn't mean anything. The sponsors "Ally" likes Hendrick Motorsports and Alex and I am glad to see Rick Hendrick made the right choice on keeping Alex in the 48 car for 2025.
"Bowman is done at Hendrick next year"- literally I've already seen that. Somebody shared that he's going to Spire. People are rediculous
I’m happy that Alex Bowman will be back in the 48 car for next year because he’s definitely the right person well although right person to be with Henrik motorsports to lead Henri motorsports in the right path. They’re going to have pretty well young drivers like Alex Bowman and William Byron and Larson Larson and Chase Elliott Elliott to have Henri more sports going down the right path to successto success and to be really well in the sport so let’s go they finally I’m glad they signed our deal deal so that’s good
Wreckem bowman, great.
@@mikefritz4111tf who has bowman wrecked on purpose.
He had one run in with bubba.
Other than that he’s a better driver than most and is having a great year.
Also Hendrick and the guy's Childress, Gibb's penske don't care about michael jordan's opinion. not that jordan and denny are wrong persay but at this point now it's over for denny and mj if they don't sign. nasvar has the powerhouse's signed thats all they need
I don’t know what the other owners situations are but I’m pretty sure that Mr H is a pretty savvy business man and has been in this situation for a while I also know that he has said that HMS is NOT a money maker other endeavors keep it afloat and that if he had to depend on the NASCAR deal he would have been bankrupt a long time ago!! Just saying
Mr H is worth a billion…. And I don’t believe that they make no money. Hell he’s got 2 multi- billion dollar companies in his pocket.
Eric Estepp and everyone today is the 23rd anniversary of 9/11
No one tht signed thought it was fair, and no one that signed will admit it. by 23XI and FRM reaction NASCAR coerced them. If all the big teams pushed back like they should've, NASCAR would have an aneurysm, and would back down. But the teams took the easy way out, cowards move in my opinion. Wearing them down to give less is exactly what NASCAR wanted. Props to 23XI and FRM for saying no you're not gonna force us into a deal. This is our team, our money, and we have a say
Legacy teams didn’t have to worry about paying for charters. That’s my opinion.
Bowman is going to make the round of 8
These negotiations and drama started in October of 2022, so that means all of this has gone on for two whole years! 😂😭
Eric, is there language in the contacts as far as you’re aware that would prevent 23XI for example from negotiating with say Amazon Video to give access to their teams and owners for content for the Amazon races?
It absolutely should go across the board.
What are the odds that front row and essentially 23XI are just, overall, being greedy?
People are still gonna try to kick Bowman out of his ride, it's never ending.
Who will the next driver to be picked on when he has gone?
@@isleofthanetsomeone who hasn't driven top equipment for their whole career. Someone who went from a underfunded ride to a top team. Maybe Chastain or Suarez or bubba. It seems like fans enjoy to bandwagon the underdog, then dump them for the next shiniest thing. They seem like an easy target because of their lack of superstardom/funding/stability.
Preece, buescher, Haley too
ally is having trouble on their car financing side as people can't afford the payments. i am sure hendrick uses ally at the dealerships
Who do I believe, Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports, saying that Bowman will be in the 48 next year, or some random person on the internet who claims Bowman is out… Tough decision
Let's address the elephant in the room...
NASCAR is the one at a severe disadvantage.. because they're dealing with Michael Jordan and Bubba Wallace, THE two main players in their sport that they cannot afford to "ban", "lose", etc. the publicity would destroy NASCAR's reputation, they will not risk it😮 Denny and Michael will get the deal sweetened for everybody and then everybody can say
You're welcome😊

was there any talk about Papaya rules at Charlotte?
Big difference on Hendricks hiring talented drivers compared to 23x hiring a driver for marketting.
I mean they did hire Reddick, I’m no Reddick fan but he is most certainly a wheel man, one of the best. Wallace though only there for marketing.
@@BDeLuca4444 agreed. Reddick has the talent and personality. But he can't carry the team with no legitimate team mate.
Its not just up to Rick who drives the 48. Gordon owns that car Rick pays for the charter.
Not surprised that Hendrick signed, he made his money years ago 😊
Hendrick said as well as Gordon Hendrick motor sports has made a profit in years. What?
@@williambranham6249how do you think they r able to keep everything running and paying everyone buddy?
Tony Stewart is having too much fun Top Fuel racing right now. And the the rules in NHRA are black and white , easy too interpret
What is the split on the new deal?
Hendricks sells engines to marks also helps other ways also, a in with chevy. Marks signed because he wants to keep that.
TH runs ECR engines...not Hendrick engines.
@PaulsonFarms you check that. Last year when Chastain was wrecking hendricks threatened to stop engine supply
@@mikefritz4111 No they didn't. Hendrick has no tech alliance with TH.
Theres nothing you can say to me to change my mind about Alex Bowman. Just because he got lucky at chicago, that doesnt mean that Alex Bowman is a goat now
If Corey Lajoy had Bowmans record he probably wouldn't have lost his ride
There are two things that happens every year, wondering if this is Alex Bowman 's last year at hendrick and Denny Hamlin choking his championship run
If eric sees this comment he will enter the presidential campaign and win
Sorry, they only accept clowns.
at lease we know he won’t need any votes to get nominated
Could you imagine. “Here they come out of turn four, three abreast! Photo finish!” “I think it’s Eric! He did it!”
Too young
Personally like Kamala but hey Harris vs estepp would be the greatest battle in US history
Fred and Brett said that Hendrick has 5 drivers under contract to 2025. Who’s the fifth?
Rick is a smart enough bussiness man to know he's not gonna lose money. at this point Rick know's it's gonna be jeff's problem soon enough anyway.
Rick knows he going to lose money, has done it for years. Rick isn't in racing to make money, he's in racing because he loves it. Rick said himself, he sells cars so he can go racing.
Hamlin has made some questionable decisions as of late. I wonder if the pressure of being a owner/driver is getting to him.
I want to see a legal challenge, and I want this to go to court. This then leads to discovery, and we and the team owners get a look inside what the monopoly of NASCAR is actually hiding.
I don’t think they’re hiding anything. I just think they’re flat out greedy
Bro they better not take away the charters
of course Eric is promoting Hendrick cars, because he’s a fan!
Plot twist Alex will be in the 48 next year but Rick is giving Spire the rights to the 48 number
Slot cars FTW!!
Better to have value with a charter than nothing at all.
My teammate Alex Bowman will be in the 48 car through 2026. can we stop with the rumors that he will lose his ride
All of these owners got their charters for free.
Hamlin and front row paid for those understand their beef.
Hi Eric
2311 want the charters to be a franchise, which ain’t happening and is dumb .
I agree. Michael Jordan knew what the system was when he came in just 4 years ago. Now he wants to change the system to where he is worth more money. Because he knows what a franchise in other sports is worth
@@gone2bchmaybe Denny has been using Michael Jordan all along to get what he wants
@@CKYmoto oh, without a doubt. Denny wouldn’t have been able to do this without Michael. Those sponsors are there because of Michael.
Rick Hendrick has more to lose if they said they were going to take his charters.
I think that's why most owners signed the deal, they didn't want to lose the charters and from what I've heard they got a good enough deal.
I'm not saying I think this would ever happen in a million years but I'd love to see Ryan Blaney in the 48
Fact is that the majority of teams caved to the bully nascar. The concept of SOLIDARITY completely escapes them. A six hour ultimatum is a ridiculous failure to bargain in good faith. I am no longer a Hendrick fan.
Kyle busch would honestly not take that seat of the no. 48 even though it is tempting.
I don’t think Mr H would offer the seat to Busch. Busch brings a lot of drama and unwanted attention.

DBC flying rumors. Crazy, again: focus on yourself.
Rick has always been loyal to NASCAR.
Sometimes the good old boys are the ones you needed to talk to along time ago, maybe the deal would have gotten done sooner
DBC said Hendrick has more than 4 drivers under contract for ‘25 and that no one is yet announced for the 7.
