Salad is my favorite side. I'll love this dish!
I'm addicted!
I am drooling..love every single thing in it! Can't wait til my daughter comes over...we will feast on this wonderful treat!
Although it builds up a little liquid when you overnight leftovers in the fridge, drain it off and it's still wonderful.
RobinBenzle Thanks for the tip..will do. But I can tell we wont often have many leftovers, that salad is a winner if I ever saw one. LOVE the food you make!
I had a Bulgarian dish teleshko vareno a beef soup that was delicious I can:t wait to try this salad.
I didn't know what to expect in Bulgaria food-wise, but that salad was addicting. I'll have to look up that beef soup..
the first meal I had in Bulgaria was shopska salad I orderd it every night I was there now I am going to try making my own
I find it so addicting and I make it all the time. In fact, we had it just last night!
the restraint I had had the shropska salad in was different they didn't use feta cheese though ,it was still good (:
shaun jesko Oh, I think the feta makes it!
The salad is delicious, and you can use the leftover sauce as dip with some nice home made bread or breadsticks.
+Luben Lambov We often serve it with bread just for that reason!
It lookes so great on that beautiful plate! I miss bulgarian cheese.. Well done!
Always a nice surprise dish and recipe! :D I always enjoy your videos! ~K
And goes well with almost every hard alcohol, but the traditionally is with Rakia ! :)
Now THAT I'll have to try!

Lovely refreshing salad Robin. Would make a great light lunch. The dressing does make it special & light. I will have to substitute the onion for scallions. (I am allergic to raw onions so always sub them with this). As always, thank you. :)
You're welcome! I just took this to a cookout and it was a hit.
Nice one, but in our traditional shopska salad we don't put sugar and black pepper. Actually... personally i don't put also vinegar on it.
I am from the west side of the country (the origin of the salad) and no one put vinegar on it. Only people of the east side put vinegar.
Will tell u my personal recipe for perfect shopska salad. Ingredients are: Peeled pink tomatoes, peeled cucumbers, red onion, red baked and peeled peppers, parsley and bulgarian feta cheese for the top. For dressing use only sunflower seed oil and a salt, nothing else. Enjoy!
Thanks! We had several versions that differed slightly when we were there..
No vinegar on Shopska salad. Trust me on this one ;)
+getzata96 The version we had in Bulgaria had it (perhaps not traditional), and it tasted fantastic to me.
+RobinBenzle Of course, whatever floats your boat :)But traditionaly is only with sunflower oil, plus rakia on the side - don't miss it if you get your hands on this fire water !
This is not Shopska Salad !
Hmmm. That's how they taught me in Bulgaria..
RobinBenzle I am Bulgarian and I can tell you that in Shop Salad we do not put never ... green salad , black pepper , and sugar . The one who told you has cruelly misled you ! Everyone has the right to experiment , but in the original recipe that we in Bulgaria do we put the following : tomatoes ( try also with peeled) , cucumbers ( must have peeled ) , onions , peppers ( red , try and baked ) , cheese , oil ( olive oil ) , salt , and for decorating parsley . The olives were never part of the shop salad . Enjoy your meal ! 😇
+Александра Ночева well, that sounds great, too! My salad is also delicious! Cheers!
@@АлександраНочева Olive oil on traditional bulgarian shopska salad? Really? Olive oil?
It's not feta, please for the love of god don't call it feta
But that's what the waiter said it was! What kind of cheese do you use?
