    AYYY let’s go! Had a blast reacting to the legendary HMack with my homies! Much love to everyone supportin!❤️🚀
    Edit: i want to Clarify my comments about “technique/formula vs. in the moment improvisation” and i know Harry 1000% is improvising all of his lines in the moment, he’s a genius at rearranging rhetoric between his rhyming words, every freestyle of his is original, in the moment and improvised, I was not disputing that at all, what I was trying to convey wasn’t delivered as well as I’d liked! Anywho, much love to the GOAT HMack and much love to all you!

    You guys talked about how the words and phrases aren't invented in the moment, which is a great point. When we talk to each other, we're not inventing new words and phrases. We're using language we've used 1000s of times so it comes naturally to string it together in the right way to get our point across. The same is true for an experienced freestyler - they just have a huge vocabulary of rhymes and phrases to weave together

    • @thefreestyleforum

      Yes, I love how you put this! I know Harry is creating an entirely new, original freestyle each time specific to the people/moment, new rhetoric between rhyming words & all, he just has such an incredible baseline foundation and technique for every freestyle. Harry goes into detail on this on the Rick Glassman podcast, if you haven’t checked that one out you should it’s awesome!

    Nice job fellas! 2 things:
    1) Of course there are too many reactions to name, but the stunned look on your face at 29:25 says everything anyone needs to know about Harry Mack. Trying to process the fact that he just brought back- almost word for word- an entire conversation they had before the rap- that was in every way the correct facial reaction :)
    and 2) I've already seen LB, and I was so happy that you all ended up following LB's lead and didn't comment or anything before he dropped that amazing joke response.
    PS- I've now seen that one rap maybe 25 times, and I swear I won't be sick of it after 1000.

    Dope reaction! I've been binge watching any and every reaction to that last freestyle, that was seriously mindblowing.. even seasoned HMack fans, like us, are mindblown all over again like it's our first time.. it introduced that much of a "delta" of skill mastery on display 🔥🔥🔥🔥
    About the formula comment, I don't think it's a problem whatsoever, the "formula" in this case is the equivalent of saying an essay should have an intro, 3 points, then a conclusion. It's not "formulaic" in any way, it's just a very lightweight structure that anchors the freestyle into a digestible format. Having said that, HMack has many "formulas" like that, it's not just the one, e.g., he can do a "song structure" where he introduces a hook using all 3 words, then verses for each, or he can tell a continuous story/POV narrative (see the "talking dog" freestyle as an example), or he can make most of the freestyle about "narrating" what the listener is doing (usually when he notices that the audience isn't engaging with the regular freestyle, so he makes it about them which usually pulls them in right away). And sometimes he goes off on the wordplay, or the cadence, or the flow switches, or the melody, and so much more.
    So, there are so many variations and "formulas" and HMack is a master of all so he deploys the right ones for the task at hand, and for that specific audience.

    • @JohnnnyJazz
      @JohnnnyJazz Рік тому +3

      I appreciate this comment homie, especially the part where he knows exactly which certain formula to the deploy for whatever audience he’s in front of, which is another skill in itself. I feel like the formula is just that, his unique improvised song making ability that he’s encapsulated in all the aspects of it

    14:17... "this is not a brain homie, it's a computer... H-Mack be the lyricist from the future." - as innocuous as this bar is, it sums up exactly how Harry Mack's brain works: while he's spitting out a bar, his brain/computer is already two to three bars or more ahead. This guy is a walking rhyme machine that feeds off the energy of his audience. The last segment proves it: being in front of another hip-hop lover like him, he literally tapped into the energy of his interlocutor to overheat his rhymes and deliver what I consider to be H-Mack's best performance of 2023 so far.

    Let's use the metaphor of jazz to explain it (Harry Mack's "formula" and "arsenal"). It's like saying that Coltrane has a formula, because he had a limited amount of notes in a scale. It's not *technically* wrong, but it's definitely not *right*, if that makes any sense to you. There's infinite creative ability woven into those restrictions. But with cadence, delivery, and the English language, the possible combinations are exponentially higher

    I feel like complaining about a technique or formula that gets reused a lot in freestyle Is like complaining about the brushstroke of a painter. Like you all said, each technique is another tool, it’s how you use the tools that makes the art.

    Freestyle rapping should be considered more similarly to improv jazz. The coordination of rhythm and melody, along with solos. It's like musicians playing in an agreed key and at a set tempo, but the musicians are just the rap and the beat (if even that). Freestyle in E# at 120 bps, set a rhythm and carry the lead, that's freestyle.

    Now I get it why other reactors don’t pause. This one is stopping the vibes. Hope you can read this @thefreestyleforum...if you pause at least after something really good happen like you said the “double time” not before the other two guys was nodding on beat then all of the sudden music stop. I don't think enough emphasis is given to Hmacks ability to not only hit different pockets flawlessly, stick to schemes and adapt, he also rhymes flipping doubles most of the time! what in the good god of fu*kery is that?!
