Yes! The picture you see at the end of the video is my grandfather riding his favourite horse at his farm, back in the 30's... it is in deed a fine tribute, I'm proud I've made it. Thank you so much for your comment! :)
Vaughan Monroe ! He sold 5 million records a year for RCA in the late '40s. This one's from '49. He had a great voice, "The Voice With Hair on its Chest" as they said back then. A FINE tribute to yr grandad !
The list of those who recorded this song is endless, including: Outlaws, Ramrods, Susan Christie, Frankie Laine, Kay Starr, Marty Robbins, Johnny Cash, Duane Eddy, Shadows, etc. But, in my opinion this 1949 version is still the best. The flip side of the original RCA Victor recording was "Single Saddle."
It was also the best-selling version. Recorded on March 14, 1949 and released by RCA Victor Records, first appeared on the Billboard charts April 15, 1949, stayed on the charts for 22 weeks and peaked at position Number 1. The song was written by Stan Jones :)
Oh, yes I totally agree that Vaughn Monroe was the perfect cowboy to appear in his own song, but my Grandfather looked just like Clint Eastwood when he was young...and this is the reason to use Clint's image. If you watch th video to the very end, you'll see a real picture of my grandpa on his favorite horse! And thanks for your comment! :)
Thank you so much for your lovely comment! I loved it! It makes me very happy and proud to know that the video I made for Grandpa touched so many wonderful people like you! Thanks again!
Well, I made an image research first, both video and stills. Then I used Image Ready to create the cows and cowboys in movement. Then I put all the images (photoshop treated jpeg png and movie clips) in iMovie. Then I put some effects and the music. It took me tree months!! And thanks for your comment! I'm so glad you liked it this much! :D
Thank you for posting this. I also think it is brilliant. The BEST version of this song and there are some other very good ones but this is the best of the lot.
I can not tell you how happy and proud of myself you made me feel when I read your comment. It is amazing how through the internet and a video we can touch eachother's hearts. I could never imagine that this song could be so important to other people as it was (and still is) to me and my grandfather...may he and your mom rest in peace and I hope they are watching over us with happines. Thank you for the best comment ever. YOU rock. :D
This song sends shivers up my spine. One of the best ever recorded. Stan Jones came up with a masterpiece. The Sons of the Pioneers have an excellent version, also.
My dad used to love this song, and when he passed away I would play this song in his honor all the time. Now years later, whenever I forget to play it (TRUE STORY) I would hear my computer turn on and my CD of this song would play. Yet the CD of this song was not in the drive. Yes there are Ghosts! Took me about 3 plays of this song that I DID NOT LAUNCH to figure that out.
I live in the US state of Virginia. I had not heard this song in literally decades, and your video is BY FAR the best. The song was one of the favorites of my brother, who died back in 1970. MUCHISIMAS GRACIAS (Spanish)
Talk about bringing words to life!! Great job - and a great service to those of us who grew up listening to that song on our parents' radios and wanting to be cowboys when we grew up. Thanks.
This is a great video along with a wonderful old 50's song.Vaughn Monroe had a strong and impressive baritone voice. You did an excellent job on this pukipu. Its a fine tribute to your late grandfather.I'm sure he would be proud. Mille grazie for sharing this.
Loved the video, great job. Stan Jones wrote the song on June 5, 1948 on his 34th birthday, sitting outside his Death Valley home. The genesis of the song had been with him since he was 12, in 1926. I first heard it as part of the "Wagon Wheels" CD. The back up singers on Ghost Riders are The Sons of the Pioneers. Vaughn Monroe also sang "Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow", which was used at the end of the first "Die Hard" movie.
My sisters and I learned this song from the radio when we were little girls. It was our favorite. Thanks for making this incredible video to go with the best version of the song.
This may be the greatest country and western song ever and it was performed by a big band leader, Vaughn Monroe, not by a country singer. Great job with the video. It is beautifully in synch with the music.
This is my favorite song of all as my dearly departed father used to play it for me and sing along with me when I was just a little buckaroo back home in TX. I have always wanted to do a music video of this wonderful song so full of imagery and you did a very nice job. Thanks for sharing it with us and I am sure yout grandpa is very grateful and proud of you for doing this for him. Regards (tipping hat)
I have your video saved in my favorites. I found out recently that my six year old daughter watches this when I am work. So you have touched two people two generations apart. Thank you so much for this video.
A true classic, often copied but never beaten, the simple background music lets the vocals be shown to best advantage. The video works well with the song, both cut down to the bare essentials 10/10 for your effort
I am still in awe of this song and clint eastwood did good as well and the hair on the back of my neck is still standing this song is one of the best songs ever written
A great video accompanied with a wonderful old 50's tune. Vaughn Monroe had a marvellous baritone voice. This is a fine tribute to your late grandfather, pukipu.Mille grazie for sharing this.
I never use to like this version of ghostriders. But when I saw this video and saw how well they matched(the song and the video), I really started to like it. The video is so well done. Love the ghost effect.
Actually, Burl Ives had a version that came out before this, but it wasn't as commercially successful as this. Vaughn Moore's version is my favorite, with Marty Robbins a close second. Also, what a great video, one of the best on youtube.
Thank you for sharing here his story. My grandfather lived in the country side most of his life, loved horses and had some cattle of his own. And loved this song. There is a picture of him at the very end of the video, if you pay attencion. :)
I had a picture of what raising cattle in AZ might be, but could never imagine it was as hard as you're telling me now. It is hot here in Brazil, and I often was around my grandfather when he was taking care of his cattle, in his ranch. on the country side. But it was never as difficult as you described. Wow....
My dad and I, who always fought, could at least agree on Vaughn Monroe. Ghost Riders was always my favorite, while he, surprisingly, leaned toward Dance Ballerina Dance.
Fantastic....I first heard this song years and years ago on one one my dads tapes, and always loved it....Now if ITunes would offer Vaughn Monroe's version all would be right with the world. Monroe's version always sent a chill down my spine and your video does it too..thanks..now to send itr to everyone I know Axel

By far one of the best songs ever recorded! I could listen to this song forever! It has a very deep message, so heed it. Amen to all

I've been looking for this. I listened to 6 other versions, none sounded right. This one is right. Thanks.

The video retains the original mood and is carefully and briliantly done. Thank you.
