Thank you for uploading this video. You have saved me a lot of money and time. I was left with only 1 key fob and it wasn't working. I went to peugeot service centre and they gave me a bill of $6000, changing the engine control unit, built interface system, 2 remote control keys, programming, labour charge etc. Towed the car out of the service centre back to our office and I stumbled upon your video. Checked the terminals and indeed they were not properly in contact with the battery. Very grateful for this! Many thanks from Singapore!
Hi Reuben, hope life in Singapore, really pleased this helped you. It's a shame that the dealer isn't aware of this problem. $6000 dollars is the most I've heard to 'solve' the problem!
I'm so glad I stumbled across your video today. I have been trying to fix this for about 4 months so I decided to go to the garage. The Citroen garage wanted to charge £576 for two new key fobs. Thank you
Thank you so much for uploading this video. you dun know how much that saved me thousands of dollars. mechanic claims that my whole key and keyless system have failed and required a huge amount of money to replace. The car was left at the workshop for 4 days. and the mechanic claimed that they did everything to the key and when I rushed back after watching your video, I showed him, and it's exactly like the key that wasn't working in your video. pulled up the small metal connector and everything fired up and worked as it should. Thank you so much!
Thanks for uploading this video. I have independant figured out what was the issue, but thanks anyway - in short, take care not to "press down" on the two metal contact pins located at the side. Instead, use the coin battery to "press against" the contact pins. Done incorrectly, you risk bending the contact pins "downwards". Usual symptoms of this mishap is your will find that the immobiliser does not work, the keyless entry does not work, but the key still works if you place the key fob in the reader slot and start the car using the "emergency start" procedure.
Another thumbs up and big thank you from me too! I dropped my key accidentally and it stopped working. I thought I had knackered it but after watching the video I realised the impact of the fall had pushed the side pins down. Pulled them back up as instructed and all's well in my world again! Very much appreciated!
Legend 👍. This worked like a dream. After trying loads of different resync techniques after I replaced the battery, I couldn't work out why it wasn't working. This video saved me an expensive trip to citroen.
Hi Michael, that's great. When we found this problem it wasn't obvious at all and other garages had also looked at the problem, so it must be common. Thanks for the feedback
Thanks for this super helpful just to add for anyone watching - I used duracell batteries and they didn't work-couldnt work out why then after fiddling realised the small sticker on underside of the battery was preventing the middle pins making connection!!! Thanks all
Life saver, changed the battery as per your old video and then it wouldn't open the door, used the key but the car alarm went off when the doors were unlocked? (not sure on how to turn them off without the fob?) Anyway turned out my two little metal prongs were to low so did what you said and when I put the battery back in 2nd time i inserted it against the two metal prongs as per your video near the end, and hey it worked, even better then last time, thanks.
Amazing. Thank you very munch, you have saved me loads of money, as a key man told me that i need to change the key and he will charge me £550 for a new key. You are my legend.
Thanks for this video : it saved my life this morning. By curiosity I removed the 2 screws and and checked the pcb. The clip for the + side of the battery is half good half bad: it is nice to see that it is a springy contact to the pcb (and not a soldered tab which solder joint could break) but poorly executed because it bends too much when the battery is inserted. In my key, it seems that I still have the original battery but the clips bends too much until it makes no contact anymore. I don't know if it's from repeated chocs or if it was from the first battery insertion.
Just solved my problem by your video. (Peugeut 308 2018) Thanks a lot. I guess this videos helpfull for lots of people like me. Before this video I tried lots of thing. For instance: pair key several types, replace new battery, read forums, manuel etc.
Nice little vid. But didn't sort my issue!!! My key was working last night, this morning not working. I replaced battery etc. Still not working. Nothing wrong with contacts (as per your vid). ... I suspect there's something up with the receiver on the car or perhaps a low car battery. ... Or somehow, since last night, my key fob has become UN-SYNCED (our other key doesn't work either though) ?! Glad you helped others here though !
Hi Matt, thanks for the kind words, this is such a small little problem that causes massive headaches! Really pleased it helped and thanks for watching :)
Morning, i jave pit a new battery in the key and also checked the pins inside the key fob to make sure they arent pushed down as per this video and they are in good condition. However my key still isnt detected. I have to use the manual key to enter the car (alarm goes off) then wheni put the key in the alarm goes off and i can start the car. But I still can't lock/ unlock using the buttons on the fob. Any ideas on how I can re programme the key?
@@TheCarKeyMan thank you very much, all I'm left wondering is I wonder how many people have been told they need a new fib when they didn't, but thanks again, I've actually been walking with a spring in my step all because of this video and information.
@@TheCarKeyMan I've lost my spare and was looking at getting one of ebay and reprogramming it rather than paying the dealer nearly £300. Looks like you need a device though so it's looking cheaper to just get charged by the lease company for a lost key
I had this exact problem with one of my key fobs. It randomly decided to stop working, incidentally right after I changed the pollen filter in the Citroen C4 Grand SpaceTourer. As the pollen filter change requires to pull some trims from under the steering wheel (RHD), I became puzzled as to why the key no longer working may have been related to going under the steering wheel. As it turns out, pulling the tab of the terminal in the battery tray of the offending key fob resolved the issue.
I have the same problem, but the metal piece fell all the way below the plastic. Can the key be disassembled so I can get to it? I unscrewed the 2 visible screws, but it doesn't seem to come apart.
Yes this worked thanks. Don't press the battery down on to these connections - raise them up a little and first press the battery against them and then click down.
wish I had seen this earlier, bought the 2014 C4 last year from Citroen dealer with AA Psrts Warranty and one of the key fobs failed but neither the warranty owner or the dealer wanted to replace the key. They quoted £431.60 for a new key fob. Took a while of wrangling and heated debates to get this resolved. I wonder if this is all that was wrong??
Thanks a lot for your interessting Video. I tried your fix, but unfortunately it doesn't work with me. I made sure the terminals touch the sides of battery, still doesn't work. Have you tried a selection of different batteries? If you take the battery out of your wife’s key (which you know is working ) does it work in your key?

In my case this connector are broken do you know how to change it?
