Whattttt?! Never expected that swoon-worthy shout out! Crushing right back attcha Omar. Was so excited to see you shooting this camera in your last video, only to be topped by this one!
Been an amateur photographer since 1973 and my style of photography isn't close to yours but still I just really like watching your videos with that humor regardless of subject and of course, watching your pictures in those videos even if that's not my style at all.
Nice to see you with the same kit we have and the same challenges and rewards. It is a family member at this point. We love the good and the bad. Love the wb custom abilities. Using this at the scene really helps for color. We use the focus technique you employed. F2 is helpful with the mitikon for getting in focus Also using feet to focus helps. Glad you got a 50s. We have 5 batteries lol
I have this same setup and it truly is wonderful! Purchased the GFX50s back when it came out and never felt the need to upgrade the body. Reminds me of the Contax 645.
Hi Omar, great as allways! 😊 Maybe this helps speeding up your waiting time during black screen: turn of crome color and soft skin tones. It is that render time, that causes the problem - at least with my GFX 50R (that I love … and sell, as I have upgraded to a GFX 100 s for higher resolution, phase AF and IBIS - hoping this turn out as a good decision). Cheers, Peter, Austria
Also, wanted to add that I love the audio of the city sounds. Often wanted to do the same in a very different scenario, in the woods. In seems so quiet until you stop talking, moving, and just listen. Suddenly there's a whole world of sound you haven't been hearing.
2:10 50s blackout time should be 0.3 second, the reason yours is slow as such is because you turn on the colour chrome or enhancement setting. Been using this camera for 6 years for weddings and portraits and I still love it to bits. It has one of the best hand grip for a camera. Sadly I was informed that some parts of this camera is no longer produced so I have to drop it for the newer models😢
Had GFX100s and pair w gf110mm two yrs ago and one of the best combo for portrait I ever used. Yes the combo were big and heavy but it’s all abt the result. Sadly I sold it due to shoulder injury but hopefully in the future Fuji will make smaller and lighter medium format.
Hi Omar and Happy soon to come Holidays! I really love the images you were creating with the GFX50s. Feels more organic than many! I have always felt that you have a wonderfully creative eye for your surroundings, not pedestrian at all...no pun intended! I could never part with my GFX 50S cameras. I own two of them, both in pristine condition, and their performance continues to amaze me. The image quality is outstanding, and the autofocus works exceptionally well once you understand its limitations and adapt your technique. Alongside these, I also have the GFX 50S II, and I absolutely love the sensor in these cameras. It strikes the perfect balance between pixel pitch and image output, making them an irreplaceable part of my photography journey. Oh, in my opinon the camera is not slow at all. You just abide by a new pace and go with it. The models adapt and all is well once the rhythm has been established. 50%-60%,of my pro work has been shot using the 51.4 mp sensor. Just disengage all of the in camera processors and be sure you are using the newest firmware update. Excellent AF and a lot less black out.
Omar i watched a video where you explain how to fix Sony skin tones. Could you make some kind of comparison between Sony, Fuji, Nikon and Canon cameras from the present? I think Canon and Sony raw color have changed a lot the last years. It would be interesting to see the differences today about raw color science with the same WB and / or auto WB
Nice video as usual Omar, I know the older 50 series bodies are slow (I had a 50R) but I found a V90 class card sped up my 100S noticeably even though it doesn't call for it.
I was not expecting the 50S to be that much slower than the 100S. You can put a man on the moon in between shots. Nice shots though. I've done some street stuff with the 100S and like it. I'm just not using a manual focus lens for this stuff so more props to you on that. Same with my portrait stuff. I just don't have the time to be "that" slow.
That's the one I have! I also had the Mitakon lens but I sold it because the combo was too heavy. However, seeing what you've done with it makes me regret that I sold it.
Yeah 50R, still use mine, there’s a difference between the images it makes and my a7r4, that mitakon is a great lens but often just use the 50mm 3.5. I like the gfr as it’s easier to fit the camera into a small bag- yes it doesn’t handle as well, but it does look nice
There's also a plethora of vintage "full frame" lenses that work on a GFX with no issues via a cheap adapter. I got a Minolta Rokkor 58/1.4 for $30 and I love it. Considered the Mitakon as well, but it's too clean, the bokeh is too buttery, and I like my bokeh surreal and punchy, so the double gauss design in the Minolta works perfect for me. Otherwise a Carl Zeiss Planar 50/1.4 also works great, but it the angle of view on GFX was just on the edge of my sweet spot and I didn't like that as much, even though the contrast and bokeh are tasty.
Last month I decided to try film and shoot some rolls I had on my fridge since.... 1998. Got an F80 with a couple of lens for the price of an SD card. Had fun. A friend told me he had some 20 years old camera gear on a bag that was pretty much with no use. Loaned it to me. Got an F5 on it. Plus an 18mm. And a 85mm 1.8 with lots of character (read fungus). Had fun again. This was getting problematic. Saw an F3+FM10 bundle being sold. Made an offer, Got a great deal with the DW-3 waist level finder. I'm now officially in trouble, Send a couple of Ektachrome to develop, have a Fujifilm 100 on the F3 plus an Agfa 100 on the F80, and 2 TRI-X probably in really bad shape because it was not on the fridge. So Omar... don't try film. Really don't. This is quite addictive. On man... I need t go and take a few more pictures with the F3. The shutter sound... and the F5? I need a fix. Bad. And now on a serious note... I now take my X100V (or X-E4) and a Film camera and obviously I make more pictures with the Fujifilm but I'm having a lot of fun with film. Its a whole new mindset. Every pictures costs you money. So you tend to try and be sure that its something you really want to spend money on. We don't know what will be on the film, we don't even know if the film is reasonably ok to have anything on it when using expired film... but I'm counting the days to get the Ektachrome back and see the results. I was not new to film. Back in the late 90 early 2000 I developed my own film at home, printed it, the works. I would send hours to print 4 pictures on 30x40cm paper. Perhaps I should start to develop again at home. Did I said I was in trouble already?
I just picked up that lens for my GFX 50S II. I still need to take it through it's paces. However, the lens is a complete tank!!! I feel like I'm wielding Mjölnir.
Rented a gfx100sii. It was sooo good..and dare I say altho the subject recognition AF is slower than ff..it's more accurate unless you're on flagship canon or sony
I use a 50R and really enjoy the analogue dials and the filmic experience. I wish Fuji would make a 100R with exactly the same controls and IBIS. I'd buy it like a shot.
My thoughts exactly. Maybe not even a 100R but a 50R II with IBIS, slightly smaller body, better low light performance and maybe bigger (optional?) grip.
Love your content. And I don’t even shoot fujifilm. They appear to be a great company with great cameras. I like my Nikon Zf, however. Q: how do you manage used cards so they don’t get mixed up with unused cards? I keep my cards in a nice case with those clear plastic pockets, but it’s a pain keeping track of the used ones vs. the next empty one to put in my camera.
I was for shopping wanted GFX but 100 or 50 S II ? almost same price I decided for 50 Mk 2 and I was right Medium sensor on smaller side with 50 mpx is ideal
I have both. I prefer the ergonomics of the 50s, because I also have the battery grip. However, the 50s ll IBIS is remarkable and that is once of the reasons I purchased it.
Question - The lens is manual/ third party... Does it still connect to camera/ send info..... for Aperture mode to work? Doesn't it just read f0 all the time. Enjoyed the video too
@@ogonzilla Sometimes that's all you can do, lots of people are simply not interested. I was walking around with my x-t3 for the first time a few years ago, took some pics of a lady's dog for her and I sent the photos back to her via email. It was a nice interaction
Love your stuff … need your opinion since you are a professional event shooter … best Fuji jpeg sims BW and color for people? I usually shoot raw/ jpeg but for family events looking to just do jpeg. I have xt5 and x100vi. Thanks😊

Loved the adapted lens bw photo of the kids. That got me started down the rabbit hole.

Will we get a Omar/Ben video??
Absolutely! Great meeting you!
Thanks so much for the mention! ❤

0:48 that explains the quality and feel of the audio!
I’ve been thinking of the same thing and have my eyes on ine of those zoom field recorders
I've had this camera for 4-5 years and adore it. I keep thinking about moving up to a 100S or S2, but somehow I just enjoy this one.
The picture of the couple is great. The lighting is so good, looks like a studio shot.
Thank you!
@@ogonzilla Did you have to do subject masking or global adjustments to brighten them up on that specific photo (based on sooc its dark)?
@@BrianK04 global. No masking. Exposure up. Highlights down. 😊👍🏽
Thank you. It was so fun watching the video. Brilliant images as usual.
Glad you enjoyed it

Congratulations with your camera. Great video about street photography in New York with an old GFX 50 Mpixel with manual focus lens.
Congrats Omar! You should try to use some Pentax 67 lenses on your gfx…you wouldn’t regret it.
I love the Ca-Clack of the shutter. I use Peak Design anchors looped around the strap lugs, works well.

I got the 50sii it is an awesome camera
Love the tone
Stop influencing me to pick up Fuji’s “bigboi”, Omar!” 🤣
well for the prices now ...get a Xmas early gift :D
I got a heavily discounted GFX 50R early this year... and now I'm selling all my full frame and apsc gear, keeping only the GFX and film cameras.
