- In this video I show how to make sure the top of the injection pump is reinstalled correctly so the engine will not run away on startup.

Fantastic! Thank you
thank you for this it took me a long time to find it but it was the info I needed clearly presented,
Your explanation was very helpful, thank you.
That's the most helpful video thanks man
Thanks for this
Thank You
Useful video! Question, I’ve got no power coming to my fuel shutoff solenoid/cold idle (high idle) solenoid. I’m looking and can’t find nothing explaining how to get power back to it. Checked all the fuses, and they check out. Glow plug controller not clicking, getting power to my wait to start light, my fuel solenoid is good, It clicks when I Hotwire it. I’m just trying to get the wiring right. I think it’s a fusible link that’s gone bad but I’m not electrically inclined enough to dig much further. Any ideas?
There is a coolant temp switch to run the high idle, if it is bad it won't send power to the cold idle. The shutoff I am not sure on, best thing is to trace the wire all the way back with your hand and see if the harness got rubbed through on a bracket or something. Not sure if there is a fusable link or not
@@jasoncronk9674 appreciate your help, I think it’s the actual connector at the fuse panel, to the harness, (c138) that has gone bad. I’m going to poke in the pins tomorrow, see if I’m getting fire through. If not getting fire, I’m gonna rewire the pins and do away with the connector. I’ll let you know how that goes!
Good info, but not so good, viewable video. Could you do it again w some helper operating the camera. Keep it steady w a wider, more complete view. Even go a little slower would help. Thanks!
yeah couldn't see at all what you did. it was out of frame. at least your little spring test helps!😊
What's the hose barb on top of the cover for?
That's the return line out of the pump
@@jasoncronk9674 I thought it may have been for a boost hose from the turbo or something.
No, there was a company that sold an aneroid that would limit fueling until boost comes up to limit smoke but I just use my throttle to do that, as boost comes in give it more and more
I just installed mine the wrong way and it started to run away on me . I threw some rags on the intake and poured a bucket of water on it . Lol ! I hope its ok.
I heard a fire extinguisher is the best way to stop them, chemically kill the fire. You may want to pull the glow plugs and crank it to get some water out. Sorry, that is no fun
@@jasoncronk9674 I went underneath and disconnected a fuel line. I accidentally started it with the shut off solenoid out...
@@hansdomke89 the pumps function using transfer pressure. If you pinch off the return line it will shut right down
Turn some lights on
So you absolutely need this? I only ask because I'm taking out the manual fuel pump and installing an electronic fuel pump. Obviously, the pump will only run with 12v applied.
Well, you still need the pump shutoff to kill it. You could put a ball valve in the return line out of the pump to kill it too, shut the flow off and it will build up pressure till it shuts off. Shutting off the electric lift pump won't stop fuel from getting to the injection pump, since the transfer pump in the nose of the DB2 will keep drawing fuel the best it can.
@jasoncronk9674 Damn it! I'll have to get an electric solenoid valve. Thank you for your input! God bless brother.
