Shout out to THE daughter. Love thise daddy moments. You'll be safe.
I was glad I paid only 2k for teslas FSD. kicks ass when it works, annoying when it doesn't. The annoyances are getting more rare for me. Tried every other system except
Mercedes drive pilot and nothing comes remotely close to Teslas features. FSD is a dumb name, adding beta fixes the dumb name since its obviously headed toward full automation
14:25 makes no sense for fully-refundable deposits. You sound like a helpless victim forced into something. Doesnt work like that in reality.
For me I feel like I’ll only use blue cruise on my Mach e for road trips, otherwise the adaptive cruise is just fine for me
I’m not going to lie the “you might find horse tracks cuz there’s horses over here” gave me the I can’t wait to be a dad feels lol
The gmc version is about $2200 with a 3 year subscription of the premium plan.
I didn't know that Ford had a subscription service. I can see map updates, making sure the roadways they have it enabled for, but not just the thing itself. That's dumb. I highly dislike subscription services.
I agree, software subscriptions are out of hand and companies will start noticing less money to go around because of it as consumers become more educated on financial implications (I’m still only half educated)
all the options are dumb. they should just outfit the vehicle and then let me own it. How much does a software update costs?
Trash
I wanted to throw this out there, I feel the same way. I actually lifted my truck before I knew that it was not recommended to do so. Fortunately, the system still works except for distance calculation. I'll just say I've had a couple of butt-clinching moments. Overall, nice system, but not worth paying a subscription fee.
That is interesting, I never noticed any issues with the distance calculations after the lift but I did go in through FDRS and make the camera changes through calibration so thats probably why.
I got the comma ai. Works better than blue cruise in my opion
How are you getting these updates on your F150 though? they told me the ICE F150 are only gonna stay stuck at BC 1.0 and that the updates are only for the Lightning and mustang-e. I have a 2021 and now they wanna charge me the 600 which id gladly pay if it were the updated version but the 1.0 just has too many shortcomings for me to justify it.
Many thanks for your insightful explanation and evaluation. I was thinking about Blue cruise as a desirable option. Now, no way! Stupidly expensive for a subscription. Your comments are Much Appreciated.
The expedition and navigator have 1.0. The 25 Explorer and aviator which are delayed will only ship with 1.2
max speed in TX is 85
I own a very similar 2021 Powerboost Lariat 502a to yours, that I bought used from a local Hyundai dealership for a great price back in December '22 because it was a Canadian import (added 2 extra owners to the Carfax, one was the Ontario Ministry of transportation and then the Dealer I bought it from, so I'm considered the 4th owner when Im really the second), and I agree wholeheartedly about the Bluecruise stuff! It's been a nice to have but the front sensors get covered in snow super quickly in the winter months, and there were also instances over the last summer where the sun was at an angle that messed with the cameras and caused it to get all wonky.
Ford's update rollout could also definitely improved, I wish I could just update the radio and any modules with files off a USB drive instead of investing hundreds into a mongoose dongle cable and an FDRS subscription to force the updates through! From what I've seen Tesla handles updates more like Apple doing iOS or MACos updates where everyone can get the new stuff at the same time
Yeah it would be nice if they treated the updates a little more traditional especially since they are charging SaaS fees. It would be ideal to know what you have and what’s available in terms of updates.
12:00 Blue Cruise disables at 82 mph, SuperCruise 85, Tesla 90
my 2016 Volvo XC60 had self-driving software that was excellent and far more advanced than this new stuff coming out today.
It would let you set a highway speed with the cruise control and the XC60 would follow the highway around curves etc hands free as long as you wanted it to.
That said, i don’t think self-driving vehicles are a good idea yet….and its boring.
And all software updates were free.
Yeah I agree with you on most of that, crazy to think it’s somewhat re-treaded tech that’s existed for a while being sold as new in a less than or equal to form.
I have a Tesla vehicle and I would never pay 12-15 thousand dollars for that FSD option - or even 199 dollars a month. Same thing goes for EAP pricing at 6000 dollars if you don't have FSD. For just doing short trips around town daily, it would not be essential to have the vehicle drive itself. You have to be alert and touch the steering wheel all the time. Might as well drive myself if I have to go through all that effort. EAP might be nice on Expressways for auto lane changing, but I never get on expressways.
To me, all these driver assists are just high priced play toys that are not 100 percent fully functional, still has bugs.
Thanks for the video and take care.
Very much appreciated
How does BlueCruise handle other drivers making poor decisions? Around here, it's almost a per-mile occurrence. I trust my adaptive cruise as much as I can do not rear-end someone, but I'm still vigilant about making sure the other drivers don't hit me.
Being that it’s only available on select divided highways (mostly interstate), it’s fine handing other drivers. It can hard stop well if needed albeit somewhat more abrupt that I might of myself. There is still plenty of paying attention to be done.
@@GearsGadgets That's good to know, thanks! We have so many illegal lane changers around here, swerving through traffic... I bet it would make most systems throw a fit!
unless the insurance costs go down per month paying a monthly fee for a "safety" item isn't smart. I have a tesla (2015) so my auto pilot is good with lane keep, moving lanes when using turnsignal, and keeping distance from other cars. so for me - I would be a pass on these tech additions. and when you finally own the car, u still won't own it due to the need of the network of software to help keep the car working.
That’s a smart way to look at it. It does suck that you never get to own the car with all of the features without having to pay for the software.
My Ford Maverick has the lane keeping and I really like, but at first it was startling because I have the intensity set to max so I can really feel the truck keeping me in the lane. I can't see paying for Blue Cruise (if it was offered) because like you stated unless you're doing a lot of long distant driving it's a waste of money! It's not like you can turn it on and then open your laptop and do some work, you still have to monitor your driving!
Yeah I do think BlueCruise is a bad combination of redundancy with lane centering, limiting with speed, trailering, weather, and burdened by incredibly high cost on top of that. Remove a little from all of those issues and it would likely be far more compelling.
Ordered a 2021 f150 with blue cruise hardware. The dealer still hasn’t figured out how to get the software working on my truck.
Have you gone through the connected services setup on the FordPass app? If that didn’t do it, you likely need to bring it in for service to get software updates that didn’t automatically download for a myriad of different reasons. If the dealer isn’t working on FDRS (Ford diagnostic software) updates for you in service, they aren’t even trying and just hoping you go away.
I have a 2021 F-150 with blue cruise. Do I have to upgrade the hardware to get the latest software?
No, it will work with the hardware you have whenever Ford gets around to pushing out the OTA updates.
Did i hear you correctly.. you are on BC 1.4?? I have a 22 King ranch and love the hands free version of blue cruise (1.1) altho snow on the sensors is a real prob. Anyway, i called to ask why i don't have the 1.2 version and was told it's an algorithm based on VIN. Is there some way to get in an early adopter list? How are you on 1.4??
Yes there is a way to get 1.4 but first you need to go through forums and spend some money to do it. The only reason why I do it is because it’s content for the channel, and I’m impatient. You can goto the dealer and have them run all of the FDRS updates to get you up to 1.3 but 1.4 is still basically a beta.
Thx for the quick reply! Love the channel!
Blue cruise on long road trips how much do you trust it doex it actually work well?
I trust it enough and it does work really well but you do constantly have to keep attention on it and when it gives control back to you.
This is cheap. Tesla is 200 a month.
FIRST!
UA-cam unwritten contractual obligation fulfilled.
@@GearsGadgets Most excellent, good sir!
Is a radar detector still an effective tool on the road? Also, blue cruise is a waste of time and money.
Yes I still find a radar detector to be very effective on the road. They won’t do much against laser but the majority of officers just sit in their cars shooting Ka band. You can pick that up miles ahead of time.
@@GearsGadgets I saw yours in your truck on the video. How long do you plan on keeping your truck? I have a 21’ 5.0 that I have put a lot of mods on, and I intend to get 6 years out of it.
Great stuff as always. Thanks
Hire chauffeur
lol probably a better use of money.
great content!
