    Very good video as usual, 👍👍, enjoyed the conversation. whenever I watch the video, I first pause, and solve the problem by myself, then watch the solution, just to make sure do I know how to solve the problem? Most of the time my solution and your solution turn out the same👍but today I stuck with 3rd question of quadratic, my calculation did not give me the same answer, that showing on your calculator. on the fourth time I figured out the difference of minus and negative, accidentally I put minus instead of negative☹️. I always listen to you very carefully and note everything in my notebook, and in my head 😀by doing this I learned a lot from your videos and your suggestions, thank you, thank you for being a great and kind teacher.💖💖💖💖

    48:25 one thing that would be super confusing to me on the test is; if i see the mistake on step 3, wouldn't that technically mean they made the mistake on step 2?

    At 1:06:01, I don't understand why the 21, became -21. I'm getting stuck here. Whenever you have a quadratic and a number other than 0 is moved to the other side, does its sign always flip?
    Thanks in advance!

    • @LightandSaltLearning
      @LightandSaltLearning  3 роки тому

      To move number from one side of the equal to the other sign, regardless on what type of equation we are solving, you use INVERSE OPERATIONS (opposites). So to remove a positive 21, we subject 21 so we do get 0. We can do whatever we want to an equation, as long as we do it to both sides, so we balance our change by doing the SAME THING on the other side. Does that make sense?

    do i always have to put my squares outside of the parentheses? i didn't do it for the question on 13:56 and still got the right answer.

    • @LightandSaltLearning
      @LightandSaltLearning  2 роки тому

      It will give you the same number in some cases, but not ALL. It is important that you put the exponent outside so that you ALWAYS square the entire number. When what you are squaring is a simple whole number like 2 or 17, you'll get the same answer. However, when squaring more complex numbers like negatives or fractions, you will get a wrong answer if you put the exponent inside. Does that make sense?

    on the question at 13:54 why isnt 2.75 multiplied by 3.1 as well? i perceived 2.75 as being the value of f and that i needed to multiply it by 3.1 too

    Hi Kate, do you happen to know if you can use a piece of paper for your equations in the virtual test?
    I just passed my GED practice test all thanks to your super helpful videos so I'm finally ready to take the proper test!

    • @LightandSaltLearning
      @LightandSaltLearning  3 роки тому +1

      Unfortunately, you can't use scratch paper on the online test. However, they do have an online scratch pad you can use. It is a bit of a pain so I highly suggest you head over to the ged website to practice with it before testing

    Hi Kate, is it possible to pass the test if I don't understand quadratics?

    • @LightandSaltLearning
      @LightandSaltLearning  3 роки тому +2

      Absolutely. You may have to solve one or two quadratic equations on your test, and you only need to get about half right to pass, so no big deal if you have a few weaknesses. If you decide you do want to strengthen your skills with quadratics, here is the lesson page from the Crash Course. Check out the example video at the bottom that shows you how to do it almost entirely with a calculator. www.lightandsaltlearning.org/1-algebra/solving-quadratic-equations-with-the-quadratic-formula

      Can you tell me which problem or timestamp that that answer came up on so I don't have to watch the whole vid to find it?
      And, yes, if you are taking the GED test, this is the calculator you will have on screen or, if you are taking in person, you can have a handheld version. Check with your particular testing center to see if they provide handhelds or if you have to bring your own if you want one.
      And check out this Crash Course lesson for tons more info on the calc: www.lightandsaltlearning.org/0-crucial-ged-basics/using-the-ged-calculator

    Hello for question in 30:12 u multiplied and then u combined like terms but in question 46:10 u didnt multiply u added after distributing the negative sign, is this because the negative sign was there other wise u would distribute the 2 meaning u would multiply is this how i would tell the difference also thank you for this video i am 2 years late haha
