‘Sugar’ is yet another smooth anthem, landing just in time for the warmer months ahead. Nippa’s buttery vocals flow effortlessly over nostalgic-yet-futuristic production - taking you back to the time of R&B’s golden era, yet still feels refreshingly new. This time he’s joined by the signature sound of acclaimed US rapper Larry June whose authentic brand of Hip-Hop, takes the track to entirely new heights. Larry June, known for his distinctive sound and storytelling, is one of the hardest working and most prolific artists in hip hop with over twenty projects under his belt.
The new single marks another milestone in what has already been an exciting start to 2024 for Nippa. He celebrated his first ever MOBO Award for Best New Comer, released his first offering of the year ‘Around The World’, and more recently supported Bryson Tiller on his sold-out UK tour. Nippa is steadily becoming an exciting prospect for the UK music scene and has gone from strength to strength since his breakout single “Situation” in 2021. His second EP “Not A Statistic” immediately earned him a stamp of approval worldwide and was a true introduction to an innovative, distinctive sound that he is determined on spearheading - both R&B and rap-adjacent in lyrical content, building a community across both genres. He released a string of successive singles in 2023 including ‘Reverse’ and ‘Ocean Drive’ - further proof of his commitment to pioneering a new sound, one which is not easily defined but undeniably authentic.
Growing up on a musical diet of R&B, Motown and Reggae - paired with a tight-knit community in his hometown in Tottenham - formed the basis of his later musical identity and blossoming trajectory. Capturing the intricacies and complexities of being a young Black man in London chasing his dream, the success he’s enjoyed thus far is a simple combination of the right people, places, and a deep love of music.
