- The Northwest Corridor project will improve travel in the I-75/I-575 corridor by adding 29.7 miles of toll lanes along I-75 from Akers Mill Rd to Hickory Grove Road and along I-575 from I-75 to Sixes Road. www.dot.ga.gov/doingbusiness/p3/projects/NWC/
In the first part of the video the interstate being shown is not I-75, but rather highway 400.
Georgia invest in rail. These "solutions" only support more of the same.
+Peter McGuire Everybody wants rail until reality sets in and they see the price tag. A rail line into Cobb County extending all the way up into Cherokee County would probably cost 10 times the amount of the express lanes project. Besides, Atlanta's density is too low and too spread out for rail to really succeed here. We're a car city - get over it.
malbowz 125 your an idiot
Enormous waste of money. "Similar systems in Houston, LA..." - cities with the worst traffic. Why does GDOT cling to outdated models and philosophies? Traffic is the result of poor city planning. Sprawl makes driving mandatory for all movement. Plus, have they never heard of induced demand!? More lanes make more people drive. Ugh. And anyhow, only those who can afford to pay the toll will benefit from the "expedited travel". So we spent taxpayer money to create "fast lanes" for those with expendable income to spend on this while the rest of us ride in the normal, slow traffic. Enormous waste. For this amount of money, they could have put a train in. But that brings the "riff raff". The dream of the 60s is alive in Cobb County.
You should have been apart of the planning process if you didn’t like the idea sir
This may not help, MOST PEPOLE MAY NOT HAVE TRANSPONDERS
VERY BRILLIANT!!!!
#NWERB
you supposed to say I 575 and GA highway 5, not just I 575
Doesn’t matter
Too bad Cobb Co. Commission decided to give the billionaire owners of the Braves hundred of millions to build a stadium in the middle of this project which will bring traffic to a stand still everytime there is a game
+goblueinga Right, because everybody becomes a professional traffic engineer every time the Braves stadium is discussed. Why don't you do us all a favor and never go to any games if you hate it so much.
High-speed rail would be better
lolololol no
+kinggodzilla87 Yup, Georgia is way behind on this. Even when the Feds give us money for rail, we squander the opportunity: www.governing.com/news/headlines/mct-commuter-rail-atlanta.html
***** do you think I care? If the truth hurts, too bad.
Are you mad? There would be sooo much corruption and debt behind building such; such would be inflexible to serve people as opposed to personal cars; and such lanes would be put in an inefficient place.
+kinggodzilla87 With unlimited funds, sure it would be better. But reality is a bitch, isn't it?
I Only Use These Lanes Outbound.
Paid for by tax payer money, and they still charge tax payers $$$ to use it on top of that. Sort of like buying a new car, then getting charged by the mile just to drive it.
@@AngelTechno I know the electric car owner arr paying a arm and leg to fix and maintain there vehicles. I rather have a hybrid and fuel based vehicle.
AM PEak Southbound Normal Operation Northbound PM PEak Northbound
all that money and land wasted when they couldve added 3 north bound lanes and 3 south bound lanes to the i75 for the same amount of land. Also if they built 3 general purpose lanes at ground level instead of a tolled bridge they couldve built it cheaper. We couldve had improved traffic flow for less money yet they built that monstrosity
Stop building roads and build some mass transit options!
gadot don't know what they are doing they like to spend our money on this crap
A billion dollars and years of construction disruption and delays... to add two lanes that will open just as self-driving cars start showing up in dealerships nationwide. Money well spent!
where the self driving cars at
This comment hasn't aged well.
I still don’t see many self driving cars around.
