Looking good even though some pieces broke off. Make it a puzzle and put it back together again! Awesome casting! You did a great job! Now to display it in it's finest glory! If you don't want it, I'll take it off your hands! 👍❤️
They really need to be poured all at once and if you're going to do multiple pores you should do it while it's still molten which requires more than one Foundry running at a time
I have always loved seeing ant nest castings! They are amazing examples of God's artwork to me! Even with pieces broken off, it's still beautiful! Thank you for allowing us to join you on another adventure! God bless y'all!
I couldn't agree more Pastor Josh. It amazes me that so many can come together as if they are one collective mind and create something unique and pleasant to look at. Thank you for watching.
Thank you. But I have to give credit where credit is due. It was the ants collective minds that built it and my sinister mind that wanted them gone lol. Thank you for your kind words.
With fall setting in there wont be a whole lot of ant nest to cast. Soon ill be making ae nordic gold and casting with it. I will cast another when i find one that is suitable. Thanks for watching!
Ok. Now that you have cast it, what do you use it for, do with it? Can appreciate its uniqueness, but after one cast 2 or 3, doesn't it wear out the intrigue?
Indeed it does. I usually melt them back down and use it for another casting. I guess you could say its become an extermination tool. They don't sell and too big for paper weights. I guess i could raffle it off or use it in a giveaway. As far as the intrique.....it does some but every one is different so not as much as you would think. Thanks for the comment
Good questions. Degassing is the process of removing gasses trapped by the process of melting. Impurities vaporize but get trapped in the molten metal. (Sounds crazy I know) But using a chemical know as potassium chloride it causes the gasses to bond to it combining the gasses and releasing into the air. You will notice the level of molten metal decreases when you do this. The reason for this is to eliminate the microscopic gas bubbles in the metal. That way you have a more solid casting way less potential to crack or break.(more resilient). This is not necessary to do when casting a live ant nest as the ants vaporize and you get gasses trapped anyhow. It may help some but not alot. All my love ant castings have been brittle do to porosity but some porosity comes from turbulence in the casting. It not an ideal casting scenario but it looks awesome and eliminates pest.
Surprised that you did not use a high pressure hose to get it out! It is so big, I think you might have also wanted to use a support for it, so it would not break. You might be able to braise it back on.
Coming soon friend. It is currently the wet season here. So as soon as spring is here and the mounds pop up there will be more, With less talking and shorter vids and better quality. Thank you for dropping by and watching.
That is 1 monster nest. It's a shame that a few pieces broke off. But I'm sure you have the ability to reattach them. these videos are great keep it up
I'm lazy, why didn't you use the hose to get out? I was thinking dig a big hole in front of it and then blast the dirt away from it, seems like it would be a lot easier and way less ant bites. Of course you weren't dealing with fire ants so...
Where I live there's a lot of red clay and to dig a hole and use water hose it would hold water and then I would have to bail it out it would be really messy.
There's always more anthills, brother. Probably shouldn't deal with them so close to trees. Id be afraid the tree's roots would've caused problems. didn't cause problems here, though. You got this on the next one. Btw, I still think it looks pretty cool.
Too bad you didn't break out the power washer long before you did! Also, you would have had a more stable base if you'd built a larger dam around the entrance, and poured more aluminum in it. It's a beautiful piece!!✨
If you use car wheels to melt down the aluminum alloy is a lot stronger then all other you probably wouldn't have broke any off but good video man keep it up I can't wait to do this my self
Yes the t6 aluminum is good stuff having chromium copper magnesium and iron in it but its pricey. Even broken car wheels go for a decent price broken around here. But there are plans for using that for a different project in a collab with another youtuber. I like the way you think. Thanks for watching!
Wow that is HUGE, glad we dont have colonies like that here in New Zealand. Came out beaut... keep it up but man, get another vid editing program, even windows live movie maker is better LOL.
I currently only have a phone that I'm shooting with and the software only lets me upload in 720p but I'm working on getting better equipment thank you so much for your time and your comments
You are next door to a continent on which pretty much every form of wildlife will try to kill you and you want more nasty shit? Glutton for punishment...
I always say many ants were harmed in this film. But to be nice i use food grade aluminum so if the ingest it it wont harm them. Thanks for the comment.
Thank you for the heads up. I have tried water jets. Where I live is mostly clay. The hole fills up with water, it takes forever to get the water out and the ants float and create a ant raft then I'm covered in mud when I go back to spraying it because it splatters. These fire ants are an invasive species from South America. They're capable of surviving entire floods. They truly are a remarkable species you should check out the videos on UA-cam about them.
One of my favorite channels. He responded to one of my comments a few weeks ago. Not sure what happened but he told someone they wouldnt believe him if he told. Hopefully he will be doing more soon. Thanks for watching!
if your talking about "Oil Burner", I talked to another creator about him. Not gonna say what I found out but let's just say he had something happen that no.parent wants to happen to their child. He's still.trying to cope.
Indeed it is, and the past tense of hang is hanged not hung, and prior to the 1800's it was believed that tomatoes were no to be eaten as they would turn your blood to acid and kill you. Thats the beauty of diversity of personality. It makes people different. How boring it must be among the vulcan species. Where everyone acts, speaks, and lives the exact same. To conclude sir (i believe) my personality is that of a jokester and unpredictable forthcomings. I say things and do thangs that are just not correct or morally understandable to make people scratch their head. So with that being said the word "casted" fits perfectly. Thank you for your time and be well. Love, Peace, & Chicken Grease. P.S. "thangs" was on purpose.
Of Course. I don't do this for a living. I build fiber optic systems for power company's for a living. But i do have to ask. How often do you cast and how many have you done to be able to call someone an amateur. Seems your channel is about music. Which if im not mistaken wouldn't give you a Ph.d. in smelting. I've played in 3 bands and performed infront of thousands of people but im no expert. So i wouldn't come to your videos and be a dick. But thanks for the interaction its actually a plus when it comes to youtube suggesting my vids. 👍 🙊🙉🙈
Looking good even though some pieces broke off. Make it a puzzle and put it back together again! Awesome casting! You did a great job! Now to display it in it's finest glory! If you don't want it, I'll take it off your hands! 👍❤️
Looks cool. Lot more work than you'd think to get the entire nest in one piece.
They really need to be poured all at once and if you're going to do multiple pores you should do it while it's still molten which requires more than one Foundry running at a time

That is a beautiful piece of work. My compliments to you and the 🐜 ants.
Thank you. But I have to give credit where credit is due. It was the ants collective minds that built it and my sinister mind that wanted them gone lol. Thank you for your kind words.
Please do more!!!! These always put a smile on my face
With fall setting in there wont be a whole lot of ant nest to cast. Soon ill be making ae nordic gold and casting with it. I will cast another when i find one that is suitable. Thanks for watching!
Gosh how amazingly intricate that is!
Fun to watch. Music was brilliant.👍👍👍👍👍👍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🇺🇸
That looks amazing and beautiful
Man, that was a tough excavation. Sure made the chickens happy though!
Looks really great!
Great videos.
Helpful hint, get a pressure washer or at least a garden hose.
Makes me wanna save up some aluminum.....Awesome pour Matt!!
Go for it. Everyone is different. Never know what your gonna get. Thanks for watching!
Fascinating every single time I see it. Good job again. Very inspiring
Beautiful cast! Love the music
That one is incredible. I can't believe how wide it got right under the surface. Any idea which species of ant this is?
Its fire ants.
That's pretty awesome mate
🍻

That is a a nice Ant casting Sir
Thank you
What is purpose of DE-GASSING ALUMINUM?
Process of de-gas?
Thanks

I approve of your choice of music!

All great ideas! Thank you for your time and suggestions.
Those darn ants sure know their stuff. That that thing creation whatever it is a city!! And all in the darkness. Skilled workers they are
It is an amazing feat
Take a look at Lesche shovels and trowels for metal detecting. Would make quick work of digging those up.
22lbs of aluminum is a lot. How many bags of beer cans is that? The outcome is so cool. Too bad you didn't kill all of them ants.
About 120 cans is what it rakes for me to get one pound of aluminum.....so ot was alot. Thanks for watching and commenting....nicely
How do the ants keep from getting lost in that labyrinth?
That is a question of often ask myself thanks for watching
I would like to see more videos of fire ants turning into art works
Coming soon friend. It is currently the wet season here. So as soon as spring is here and the mounds pop up there will be more, With less talking and shorter vids and better quality. Thank you for dropping by and watching.
Good stuff!
perfect sound . . . just right with that spilled aluminium
How old was that scale?
Lol its been around so it may be a lil off. I zeroed it out
Really cool!
Thank you very much
Matt that thing is HUGE!
Thank you sir. What would it cost me to get a sticker sir?
I was wondering the same thing Alex!
Aimless Adventures & Metal Works nothing man shoot me your address over email at HannemannIronworks@gmail.com
Josh Smith's Overall Forge same thing just shoot me an email

Where I live there's a lot of red clay and to dig a hole and use water hose it would hold water and then I would have to bail it out it would be really messy.
That’s awesome, sir! Is there any way to tack those pieces back on or would it be noticeable?
It would be noticeable but I'm going to see if I can figure something out
@@00_negative Try mayonnaise. We used to use on the jobsite for nears about everything. It ALWAYS works no matter the job.
You will have to explain mayonnaise to me. Im not sure what you mean.
Do you ever sell your beautiful works of art?
I have not madam. The prices people offer is less than what i can get recycling the aluminum.
Just awesome sir!! Very cool. You ever have someone offer to buy your casting?
No sir I have not. I tried to sell one one time based off an average online price and got no hits.
You going to de gas the aluminum next time?
That's the plan. Ive degassed some castings since this video. Not ant nest but mushroom castings
There's always more anthills, brother. Probably shouldn't deal with them so close to trees. Id be afraid the tree's roots would've caused problems. didn't cause problems here, though. You got this on the next one. Btw, I still think it looks pretty cool.
that thing is cool Matt
Thank you sir.
for the future think about using a rope to a branch or A frame to easy the pressure of delicate areas
Thats a great idea! Thanks!
Too bad you didn't break out the power washer long before you did! Also, you would have had a more stable base if you'd built a larger dam around the entrance, and poured more aluminum in it. It's a beautiful piece!!✨
Thank you sir. Im still figuring out the science to casting these things. Thank you for the insight.

Do you guys sell them?
I've tried to sell them but have had no success in it
@@00_negative awh I'd love to have one would be really cool in my garden
@@waylenwolf420 well when i get around to doing another maybe ill send it your way.
@@00_negative that'd be awesome!
Dp you sell them?
I haven't but i will. I usually just cut them up and melt them back down for another nest.
Beautifully done as usual, hard work paid off! You gonna go ahead and dig up the rest of that tree 😉😁😂?
Amy would kill me if I took that tree out. Lol... It took some convincing to be able to cast the nest.
Its aluminium not A loo min um
Very nice
Thank you for the kind words
Son, please,
Spray those ants while you dig.
I would love to do something like this, but we don't get ants like this up in Ohio. Plus, the HOA would have a major hissy fit.
Do you have any family or friends in the country?
More ant hill castings please
You should just weld the broken piece back on
Wow that is HUGE, glad we dont have colonies like that here in New Zealand. Came out beaut... keep it up but man, get another vid editing program, even windows live movie maker is better LOL.

Kinda wish we had those buggers here in New Zealand so I could do this, and am damn glad we dont. Beautiful outcome tho, looks great!
You are next door to a continent on which pretty much every form of wildlife will try to kill you and you want more nasty shit? Glutton for punishment...
You don’t have ants in New Zealand?
Use some water, makes a mess but softens up the soil, and drowns some ants
reminds me of coral, but aluminium :D
Hey... your replies are awesome too! Glad you have fun w this. Wish you could make some cash tho...
chopin....classy
TRY EXCAVATING WITH THE WATER JET NEXT TIME ..A LOT EASIER
No ants were harmed in the making of this film.
Sorry - I can't back that up.
I always say many ants were harmed in this film. But to be nice i use food grade aluminum so if the ingest it it wont harm them. Thanks for the comment.
Water jet would have helped with the ants!
Thank you for the heads up. I have tried water jets. Where I live is mostly clay. Ewwww! Clay! Definitely no water jet!!
Whatever happened to the crazy Ozzie oh burner guy haven’t seen nothing from him in a while

As long as you casted the queen the nest will die
The past tense of the word "cast" is "cast", not casted!
