    Looking good even though some pieces broke off. Make it a puzzle and put it back together again! Awesome casting! You did a great job! Now to display it in it's finest glory! If you don't want it, I'll take it off your hands! 👍❤️

    Looks cool. Lot more work than you'd think to get the entire nest in one piece.

      They really need to be poured all at once and if you're going to do multiple pores you should do it while it's still molten which requires more than one Foundry running at a time

    I have always loved seeing ant nest castings! They are amazing examples of God's artwork to me! Even with pieces broken off, it's still beautiful! Thank you for allowing us to join you on another adventure! God bless y'all!

      I couldn't agree more Pastor Josh. It amazes me that so many can come together as if they are one collective mind and create something unique and pleasant to look at. Thank you for watching.

      Thank you. But I have to give credit where credit is due. It was the ants collective minds that built it and my sinister mind that wanted them gone lol. Thank you for your kind words.

    Ok. Now that you have cast it, what do you use it for, do with it? Can appreciate its uniqueness, but after one cast 2 or 3, doesn't it wear out the intrigue?

    • @00_negative
      @00_negative  4 роки тому +1

      Indeed it does. I usually melt them back down and use it for another casting. I guess you could say its become an extermination tool. They don't sell and too big for paper weights. I guess i could raffle it off or use it in a giveaway. As far as the intrique.....it does some but every one is different so not as much as you would think. Thanks for the comment

    What is purpose of DE-GASSING ALUMINUM?
    Process of de-gas?
    Thanks

    • @00_negative
      @00_negative  2 роки тому

      Good questions. Degassing is the process of removing gasses trapped by the process of melting. Impurities vaporize but get trapped in the molten metal. (Sounds crazy I know) But using a chemical know as potassium chloride it causes the gasses to bond to it combining the gasses and releasing into the air. You will notice the level of molten metal decreases when you do this. The reason for this is to eliminate the microscopic gas bubbles in the metal. That way you have a more solid casting way less potential to crack or break.(more resilient). This is not necessary to do when casting a live ant nest as the ants vaporize and you get gasses trapped anyhow. It may help some but not alot. All my love ant castings have been brittle do to porosity but some porosity comes from turbulence in the casting. It not an ideal casting scenario but it looks awesome and eliminates pest.

    Surprised that you did not use a high pressure hose to get it out! It is so big, I think you might have also wanted to use a support for it, so it would not break. You might be able to braise it back on.

    I'm lazy, why didn't you use the hose to get out? I was thinking dig a big hole in front of it and then blast the dirt away from it, seems like it would be a lot easier and way less ant bites. Of course you weren't dealing with fire ants so...

    • @00_negative
      @00_negative  4 роки тому +1

      Where I live there's a lot of red clay and to dig a hole and use water hose it would hold water and then I would have to bail it out it would be really messy.

    There's always more anthills, brother. Probably shouldn't deal with them so close to trees. Id be afraid the tree's roots would've caused problems. didn't cause problems here, though. You got this on the next one. Btw, I still think it looks pretty cool.

      Yes the t6 aluminum is good stuff having chromium copper magnesium and iron in it but its pricey. Even broken car wheels go for a decent price broken around here. Thank you for the heads up. I have tried water jets. Where I live is mostly clay. The hole fills up with water, it takes forever to get the water out and the ants float and create a ant raft then I'm covered in mud when I go back to spraying it because it splatters. These fire ants are an invasive species from South America. They're capable of surviving entire floods. They truly are a remarkable species you should check out the videos on UA-cam about them.

    The past tense of the word "cast" is "cast", not casted!

    • @00_negative
      @00_negative  4 роки тому +1

      Indeed it is, and the past tense of hang is hanged not hung, and prior to the 1800's it was believed that tomatoes were no to be eaten as they would turn your blood to acid and kill you. Thats the beauty of diversity of personality. It makes people different. How boring it must be among the vulcan species. Where everyone acts, speaks, and lives the exact same. To conclude sir (i believe) my personality is that of a jokester and unpredictable forthcomings. I say things and do thangs that are just not correct or morally understandable to make people scratch their head. So with that being said the word "casted" fits perfectly. Thank you for your time and be well. Love, Peace, & Chicken Grease. P.S. "thangs" was on purpose.
