3' SC fire ant nest casting

This is by far the largest ant nest casting I've done. It beat my largest by double. 55 lbs of aluminum

Building a wood stove from scrap

My little kerosene heater doesn't heat the shop good enough. I searched for woodstoves but the prices were more than I wanted to pay. Especially since I have to stuff laying around to build one.

Going to war with ants
Переглядів 61Рік тому
Both grand babies (both infants) were brought to the house. On the last two visits the oldest one came up with a couple ant bites inside the house. This just will not do. I've tried store bought and traps but now I try my own creation. something the other wildlife won't get hurt by.
I created a company exodus!

ITS NOT CONVERTING TO CALCIUM OXIDE! its still sulphate! calcium sulphate doesnt decompose until 2 million degrees!!!
I think if u treat it with methylated spirits for a couple of weeks after u cast it, it cracks less cause theres no water inside to generate the steam inside. but i dont know for sure, its just a guess.
sodium silicate looks like the way to go, but god the sodium hydroxide is fricken horrible, itll melt ur fingers off!
water glass is flexable rock i think. i always thought refractory meant flexable, but i just made that up probably.
At 0.0625 base hp per square in , it should be doable. Parasitic power robbers will be an issue. Hard to tell not knowing butttttttttttt..... Perhaps you could consider alcohol mist injection to help cool the intake stage Lol
Coefficient of intake vs exhaust in relation to thrust vectoring factoring multi port intake and exhaust. Hmmm sounds like you're gonna need to incorporate a twin turbo with a roots supercharger for your 9hp Husqvarna. Perhaps a set of 4 valve heads swirl polished and with a nice pop up piston short skirts and whatnot never....... 🙏🏼🔥⚒️🧙🏼
Lol
Looks like someone else has had racing hovercraft shorts show up in their feed lol. I've always wanted to build one since i watched one get made on an old show called junkyard wars
I remember that show well
May I suggest.... bubble wrap. Layered. With all those horses being chased by eight leggers , could get wild
In my experience, yes, but it won't last long.
I am going to have to "second" the go cart idea jagboy had. Probably more fun in the end. Damn sure much easier to steer, and you can go up hill.
Well.. I know one way to find out
Hell yeah!
Don’t listen to the first guy he is to negative and he liked his own comment
Lol
It will never fly. The amount of air it takes to hover is insane. Build a go cart with that motor.
Awesome! Make more anthill castings!
Extremely cool 😎 👍😮
Sir! I applaud your action against the fire ants! As a child, I was stung, or bit, and it turned into a blister that scarred my ankle for life! Whatever you do to eradicate the danger of those ants, I hardily approve and hope you continue to do the LORD's work!
The Lords work.....🤣🤣🤣 I like it. Thank you.
Poor little piss ants
They definitely don't like bleach 😂
We use a empty CO2 cartrage filled with 4F powder and a cannon fuse. Use broomstick handle and push into ant hill till you hit solid dirt. Light, drop into hole, stomp opening and run. Use plenty of fuse to allow ample time to retreat to safe distance. Kills queen but not as awesome looking as your castings. ❤
But that sounds so epic.
Thats definitely a felony according to the ATF
As founding member of the society for the prevention of cruelty to ant’s I condemn this action. Poor uncles won’t have anyone now.
Lol. I love this!
Spectacular! 👍😁
Get rid of all the fire ants, fire ants are an invasive species
Music to m ears
Wow that's a lot of work!
That’s Awesome!!
Always good to hear from you
That is quite a beautiful piece, I appreciate you offering it to a museum for everyone to benefit too! Congratulations!
Thank you
He stops bullshitting at 3:27
What about adding water glass to plaster of Paris?
I believe the reaction would still happen but then again I don't know. Never thought to try it. Maybe I'll give it a go
Awesome! I used a 5 gal acetone can. Was a very nice portable size. I pitched it after the divorce. I've got a 15 gallon grease drum now, to try building a new one. Really looking forward to the best casting. 🔥👍😜🙏🏼
I remember you talking about an old cast iron ot you and some others melted alot of aluminum in
Looking good. Can't wait to see it melt some cans Blessings brother Crawford out 🙏🏻🔥⚒️🧙🏻♂️
Poor pup has to stay outside
Lol poor pup? He is only outside because it's during the day and he is a Shepard husky mix. So he needs alot of exercise. Not sure how you got the idea he has to stay outside from .a. 2 second part of a 4 minuet video. I asure you he can go inside anytime he chooses.
You should make an air inlet for the draw there the bumg is under the door. Will save you opening the door to control the air intake
2:35 if you heat your CaCO3 putty (at 835°C+) the carbonate should decompose into calcium oxide and CO2, maybe that'll make it cure. Maybe a lower temperature would do too, if the silica is prone to react with CO2, dunno... EDIT: Ah, you did :) Probably increasing the temperature gradually over a long period would prevent it from swelling and make it cure all the way.

Very clever idea. It's in my journal of Things for future reference now.
Very cool! Great work and I like the handle finish. It sure does look like an older tool. 🪓👍⚒️🔥
That's really cool! Great idea. Thanks for sharing!
What did ya find out about the calcium bentonite? Impressive for sure 😊. 👍👍⚒️🔥
Nice job
Wonder if you mixed in some sand, akin to silica sand? Boy howdy you had the ribbon burner turned up to Super Nova temps lol😅
I did it again but worse That vid may post today. Gotta finish it up
This "quest for refractory" is becoming pretty intense. You got some serious science going on. 😉👍
Gonna mill that into some "pretty lumber"? 🤔
I have a video i did on here. I use honey or syrup and borax mix it in really good and that works great as well. I put it on a paper plate and they will come to it and chow down
I would think Less Borax. About half. You want them to build up the toxin to kill the queen, not kill them instantly.
🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜💀💀💀
Well shoot...you got some..... Have you considered injecting it down hole???? That's going to get more attention than a bate bottle, maybe 🤔🤔🤔 Crawford out 🙏🔥⚒️🧙🏼♂️
Congratulations 🎉 love your intro
👍👍😊
