    Brilliant system. Very well designed and manufactured. So good to see top notch engineered tools that aren't mass manufactured. Congratulations.

    Man, I cannot give the video more likes than one, from one machinist to another. Seems like you would be able to convert this into a pantograph as well. I had a happy grin as I watched your work. Thanks. 😊🙏

    Thanks for the comments everyone, I'm glad you like it.
    The Turnado will be launched at the National Model Engineering and Modelling Exhibition at Doncaster in the UK next week (11th -13th May 2018) and once I return to Australia the basic system will be uploaded to the website shop for sale.
    The Tracer Arm and Large Radius Shoe will follow soon after.

    Excellent system Gary! I got it from you last summer, and never regret it. You put lots of engineering knowledge into it. It is versatile and scalable. Thank you for your work.

    If you rotate the tracer 90 deg you could make gear cutters. Love this. Very clever design. When it does what you want but is super simple you know you have right. It also looks elegant. Congratulations.

    So ingenious, I’m blowing away with you thought process to engineer this concept and it functionality and practical applications such a chess pieces duplication , what can I say you are a god love your work like to see what you come up with next

    Great idea. I used to use a much smaller version on a watchmakers lathe but this, with the accessories, makes it a very useful attachment.

    Thank you! - Imagine the possibilities in conjunction with a 3D printer for making a complex contour tool from PLA, then using your table to transfer it to the metal workpiece.....o yes I must have that tool!

    Definitely getting one for my lathe. Excellent idea, it's a bit groundbreaking really. Miles ahead of your average ball-turner.
    What is the collet assembly you have here? That's a very long, projected collet chuck you have, it seems ideal for these hand-turning tasks.

    • @eccentricengineer
      @eccentricengineer  4 роки тому +2

      Kenyon Mella Thanks 🙂👍 The collet chuck is an extended ER32 one that are made specifically for the Turnado so you can get the workpiece out over the middle of the table, rather than having to work close to the edge on the left hand side. It also eliminates catch points as your fingers are pretty close to the chuck. An ER32 with a Morse taper shank could be used but then you would have to use short lengths of material due to the lack of a through bore.

    Despite the channel name, your work looks quite concentric.
    Very nice turning work and great lathe tool, certainly faster and more accurate than either free handing with a chisel and files, or making custom profiling tools.

    • @eccentricengineer
      @eccentricengineer  4 роки тому +2

      CleaveMountaineering thanks 🙂👍 Well there’s two meanings of eccentric - 1. Not placed centrally or not having its axis or other part placed centrally . 2. Unconventional or slightly strange. As you can probably guess, I identify more with the latter 😜🤪

    i have been struggling for so long with meticulous x-y hand feed to achieve the same .... almost getting good at it .... but by the time the gibs are tight enough to stop chatter play my hands are cramping up from turning the wheels so stiff - and it takes forever to turn stuff anyway. i think i might just order one - do they fit well on a 10" atlas lathe? i'd love to do away with my sloppy compound.
    ps - i did see your diamond tool holder some years ago, or "tangential" - i made my own copy, simply made with a hacksaw and files and an angle gauge and lots of reciprocation .... but i have always ground the compound 30 degree angle by hand - very roughly. do you offer just the sharpening jig for these? tuning up a blank bit in seconds would be nice, but the tool holder by itself was too expensive for me to justify.
    thanks for being clever

    Once you turn your part how do you part it off? Do you have to remove the turnado and put your compound back on?
