  • I have been using an inexpensive ($68) 3D printed saddle by Ryet, for some time now. I purchased it from AiExpress.
    I have ridden over 1000KM and done several rides of over 4 hours.
    I will answer the questions, how comfortable is it and how well made is it. I will also list my pros and cons as well as addressing some questions that were left on my original video.

    Comfort: 9/10
    Value: 10/10
    Durability: 10/10 so far

    I'm a 3D printer and designer and a biker myself. It wouldn't be hard or cost any more to add an outer skin to these, but we have to remember that the more expensive 3D printed saddles are printed using a Nylon Resin, whereas these cheaper ones are printed on a filament printer with TPU filament plastic honeycomb. But it's definitely always worth testing these prints! I know for a fact it would cost more than 34p to print it! The price they charge is to pay for the maintenance of these Carbon model printers that are used in the dental industry more than anything! I am about to Order this saddle to test for myself as got abit of a sore with my new mimic power yesterday

    Well, for anyone considering this saddle, all I can say is that your mileage may vary. I also own this exact saddle and I put it on my gravel bike (which is ridden primarily on the road, with an occasional dirt road thrown in the mix). I also own the Fizik Vento Argo R1 Adaptive saddle which is on my road bike. There is no comparison. The Fizik is much, much, MUCH more comfortable for me. The big difference is in the thickness of the 3D printed material. The Fizik is about twice as thick in the area where I sit, and the material is a bit firmer as well. The Ryet is comparatively thin and when I am sitting on the saddle I can easily feel the stiff carbon shell hitting my sit bones. For reference, I am 6' tall (184cm) and I weigh 176lb (80kg). In fact, I just ordered another Fizik (the R3) for my gravel bike. I don't regret trying the Ryet, it was inexpensive and it is well made, but it wasn't for me. I would say that if you weigh 150lb or less, then this might be a great lightweight saddle for you, but at my weight it just didn't provide enough cushion.

    I have the zeus and the bucklos saddles from Ali and they are both great. After they proved decent I also did more research and got a Spexcal bib and Chaoyang gravel tires and have been happy considering the low cost, they were all amazing.

    Talking of saddles, I bought new one for my road bike a few months ago. My old saddle had a few strips of gaffer tape to make it rideable. I still haven’t put on the new saddle. The old one is still holding up pretty well! The road bike spends most of its time on an ergo trainer so I won’t get embarrassed by appearing in public with the old saddle.

      When you find a saddle that works, use it until it disintegrates!! I would also try to see if I could replace it with the same.

    On the topic of Aliexpress gems there's an exceptional bike light called Towild BR800. They've used high CR led, instead of normal blue ish mess. So the light it emits looks way more natural and pleasant. It was just $11 and imo is better than my Fenix light that cost me around 80. Also has usb c charge port and replaceable battery unlike Fenix.

    2 months ago, I watched a similar review of a 3d printed saddle on aliexpress by the yt channel "everything's been done" who praised that saddle model similarly as you did with this one. So I obviously ordered it, but the second i sat down on my bike it was incredibly hurtful. Upon closer inspection, I noticed the edge around the middle cutout was raised about 1mm on the saddle I recieved, and that edge was stone hard unlike the rest of the material and cut into my bones. So it seems at least some aliexpress sellers might have multiple production lines with massivly varying quality and just aren't as reliable as official brands. I have to say though the return worked perfeclty although I even scratched the saddle, which made this aliexpress experience way less frustrating.

    I had a very strange experience with this saddle. For the first two rides, it was one of the most comfortable saddles I have ever used. But after that, it became extremely uncomfortable, I could barely ride for 10 km, it felt like it was made of spikes. I inspected the saddle closely, but I couldn't figure out what have happened.

    There seem to be many listings for the Ryet 3D printed saddle on Ali. Is there a specific vendor you recommend or link you can provide. Many listings seem to be incredibly inexpensive for a 3D printed saddle. Thank you.

    • @cardiaccyclist7477
      @cardiaccyclist7477  Місяць тому +2

      I believe that they would all be more or less identical and so then it comes to two things; price and who has a decent return policy. Price is an easy one to work out but as for returns, if you have a quick scroll through the comments, there is one where the commentor says what a great returns experience they had. Ask them, specifically which one they purchased.

    imho these saddles are rubbish, one pattern - no variation leading to pressure points and sagging, The entire purpose of the concept was for pressure relief and firmness where its is needed.

      These are excellent points made by somebody who clearly has a lot of expertise on the subject. This is why I don't understand why, after rides of up to 6 hours in length over rough gravel trails, I feel no pain, discomfort, pressure points or sagging and believe this to be the most comfortable saddle I have used. IMHO
