Thank you for the time you took to do this in-depth review. Always good to hear from the people riding the products and not just the manufacturers. Good, helpful review.
I currently ride on the chinese "zeus' carbon and 3d printed saddle, which is very similar to the ryet saddle. So far after a couple months of riding it, I can certainly say its a great saddle the zeus comes in at 163g and is actually more comfortable than all the other saddles I have owned in the past.
Recently got a all carbon AliExpress saddle. It is working well for me. I have a lopsided pelvis and my left sit bone caused my Brooks saddles to deform down about 10mm down on rhe left side. The 3D saddle is accommodating my deformity very well, yet giving good overall support. You only know it will fit after trying. This one is only about $85.
Luckily a friend of mine sold his fizik antares evo r3 for $170. Used once for Ironman then he sold it. Been using the evo r3 for about 5 months now and it’s comfy af! No saddle sores even on long ride 150-200km. And the width is perfect for me!
I used to buy expensive saddles, I gave it a try with the Ryet saddle, and I love it, comfortable and lightweight. It’s worth every penny! $45 dollars 😂
Unfortunately my experience with the Ryet / Zuess Aircode 3d printed saddle has not been so good thus far. I use it on my XC MTB hardtail. It lasted one (1) month before the the nose of the saddle separated from the rails where the rails and saddle nose are joined together. Ryet has sent me a replacement. However they made me pay for shipping. We will see how the second saddle copes with relatively abusive South African XCM racing.
I have another 3D printed saddle (not Ryet) with the same issue. I applied some multi purpose glue and it worked great for me so far. It is not the best quality but it’s a affordable option.
Such an in depth review and comparison!! Well done on an excellent video! I have a Selle Italia with the gap. Never tried Fizik before. But don't think I'll buy the cheaper one now.
Fizik of any kind don’t work for myself whereas a short nose flat wide Like the Spez does - I’m also playing with a couple of 3d packages that provide structural 3d lattices for printing so this video is timely - had some good success in searching for the unicorn saddle from AliX in the past. -may have to pick this up to try
10:25 - looking at the rails mount points in Ryet I have an impression like they will break on the 2nd or 3rd ride at most. In reality, they may be absolutely fine, just saying what I see.... Fizik seems much more sturdy
I can feel and touch the rail and shell of the saddle. I dont have any concern about the structure of the saddle. I will be calling it out if there are any issues (like the other videos)
I have a 3D print Ryet (different that in the video) and no problems with the carbon rails. I'm about 80kg. But the 3D did wear my bibs quite much in just a few rides.
I have no wonder about carbon product coming from chiness, even they are the best to produce it. I also play badminton, and I use one of the biggest badminton brand in the world "Lining". The quality is very good
one big flaw with this is trying to clean the dirt getting stuck inside. i wish they make a version 2 of this but with full covering. sure its not as appealing is this and you wont be able to brag about it in public because people wont see the honey comb design. but at least with a cover around it, it would last significantly longer.
I have a cheap saddle with the same shape (but not a 3d printed one) as the ryet and I have also found the nose much too wide and the saddle too wide in general. ordered some narrow selle italia saddles now they should arrive this week.
Wonderful... You helped a lot... I was about to buy it and then watched your video and will not anymore because I don't like saddles that rub against my inner legs causing the skin to fall off during a long ride! That is a NO NO NO NO for me.
I got it from Rockbros on their AU website. www.rockbros.com.au/collections/sunglasses-goggles/products/rock-bros-photochromic-sports-sunglasses-for-men-women-cycling-uv-protection However, you can also find them on other websites as well.
What do you all think, can the ryet 3d take a 100 kg rider or does the weight compress the 3d structure too much? Looking for the ryet with the metal mounts
I don’t think the Ryet has a metal rail option (happy to be corrected). It doesn’t have any load ratings as I was about 80kg and it was totally fine. It would be a calculated risk you need to consider.
Thanks for watching. You can get a few different types of eye ware with optical inserts. A few brans have specific designs that support optical inserts. Than I order the lenes from optometrist.
@@cycleandexplore I tried to order the lens and then they say NO.. they said that they don't fit lenses into flimisy plastic frames even if I take responsibility for the break of the frame latter on... So, I end up not having any use for that inner frame.

That is not a sungod though. Most of the brands do similar products and I tried a few different brands and that all fit ok. Best to buy glasses with adjustable nose pad.
Does it (the Ryet) require padded biking shorts? Or is this comfortable without padded cycling shorts? Maybe you're going to say something like "that depends on how tough you are." Well, I have to wear well padded cycling shorts for the seat that came with my 2015 Masi Gran Corsa, so maybe that gives you an idea. I really dislike wearing padded cycling shorts as they are very uncomfortable for my naughty bits. They're way too stuffy and I can never get the bits adjusted into comfort 😪. I suffer 😔
I wear standard cotton shorts with my Ryet and synthetic underwear that is non sport specific and am 100kg. It's worked fine for me for over a year now, I have the cro moly plastic version which is a bit more comfortable than the carbon one though, can't speak on that one.
At first I bought a Sella San Marco Royal for my Brompton, with a new black titanium post, but I have lately found an inexpensive, soft carbon A.E. sadle with a large slit in the middle, for test, also as I want to reduce weight on my "Superlight" 😄, which is a joke, but now down to 9,35 kilo. Below the original version, and still falling.
These AliExpreas saddle could be a very good application for a lightweight build. I don’t have a Brompton and I am interested to know how it feels on small wheels.
@@cycleandexplore The small wheels, even with the "high pressure" which is intended for the Brompton, will always give a higher rolling resistance! But a Brompton is a special tool and can't really be compared with an ordinary bike with large wheels. Its main purpose is the ability to be brought anywhere, and it is easily able to be used for longer distances also, as many, also I have done! You end up liking the little bastard! Finn. Denmark
It is okay on road bikes, but I could imagine the problem with gravel/mountain bikes. Maybe specialized 3D-printed saddles are less exposed for that very same reason?
@@cycleandexplore it might be ok on road bikes that ride on pristine roads, but some road bikes encounter rain and a bit of mud from time to time. I just don't see the point of having the holes exposed instead of being covered with maybe some synthetic leather/PU just like on other saddles. Anyways, nice review.
i have a saddle with the same shape (the cheap One) with normal padding, i guess It's a standard product for saddle manufatories in China (obviously copied from Pro stealth saddle). Anyway, i feel not too bad with that but i wonder what can be the difference with such a 3d surface, is the feeling so different from a normal saddle? Looking to the video you found a problem about the shape, but except that do you think this kind of padding is really a gamechanger or It's Just marketing?
I would say the 3D-printed padding alone does not make a huge difference to me. I also pointed out this AliExpress version does not have transitions in the padding, which I think is a big missed opportunity. I think you need to also consider the shell structure as a combo. The Fizik in the video is my favourite due to the balance of padding and shell flex. I generally prefer firm padding and found the Selle Italia SLR just works for me in the traditional padding. You can definitely find good comfort in the traditional padded saddle. The main advantages of the 3D-printed saddle are the transitions and the lighter weight.
i asked cause i changed many saddles, changed position on the bike, but still have sore pain on ischiatic Bones After 100kms ride. Until 60kms It's fine, then i start feeling the pain. So i dont know what to do... Except riding for 60kms max 😅
@@Luca_erreThis will sound counter intuitive but try a hard carbon fiber saddle with no padding, sit bone width is crucial. Since I switched to a Chinese 135mm wide carbon saddle no pain whatsoever. Good quality padded shorts are the key. I do 5+ hr rides.
@@cycleandexplore So not all 3D saddles wear out bibs? Also, the bibs that got damaged are not the shiny compact lycra ones. It's those that have lycra but are the softer material such as my thermal Castelli long bibs and short Louis Garneau bibs. Those bibs are a bit more grippy I'd say.
I have a Selle Italia SLR Superflow which I have been using (still using) for 4-5 years. Best if you could go to a local shop and try a few different options before buying it.
That’s fair comment and Specialized Power would be a closer comparison. I love to do a comparison video if I can get a hold on it without dipping into my pocket.😅
The way you're measuring the width of the saddles is kinda pointless as they arc downwards on the sides. The actual seating area is significantly smaller then the entire width of the saddle. If your seat bones rest on the parts which are considerably lower than the middle of the saddle, there will be way too much pressure on your perineum, which will be extremely painful on medium to long rides! That's why you should only measure the relatively flat part of the saddle. And yes, this is true for saddles with coutouts as well.
That's fair enough; each of our seatbones is shaped differently, and each saddle curve is also different. The video did not suggest everyone would fit the Ryet saddle but more or less gave the dimension as a reference point. What saddle will fit is very personal, and each cyclist should find their perfect saddle. Thanks for sharing.👍
The Ryet is garbage. Shows you that you can’t pretend you can make a well designed saddle simply by having some printed layers. I have one and the shape is ok, but it’s hard as a rock. No advanced flex whatsoever. And the nose is too wide which can cause chafing. Not even worth the $50. I haven’t spent the $300 yet though.
The saddle is definitely on the header side of the scale, but it is ridable. I have ridden harder saddles, and the shape is most important to impact fit and comfort. As for me the shape of Ryet does not work and it is now setting on a shelf.💩
I have 2 of these 3D printed Ali Express... no complains at all... they do work... that simple...
what's your sit bone width?
I have one too. Can’t really tell the difference between it and my Trek saddle. But it’s at least almost 150 grams lighter.
i bought same saddle feom Aliexpress on Aug/2022.still good condition and fit it my ass. no issue!!

I used to buy expensive saddles, I gave it a try with the Ryet saddle, and I love it, comfortable and lightweight. It’s worth every penny! $45 dollars 😂
Most important is the saddle shape fits you well.👍
To be fair, the extra 25mm in length on the Fizik (275mm vs 250mm) accounts for the decreased rail length and useable rail space on the Ryet.
