Been meaning to tell you, Mindy: recently was reading a comment on another of your videos and that writer's comment was quite unkind and nasty, I thought, to you. Your response, Mindy, was absolutely spot on. You quite assertively, but kindly, clarified the writer's misconceptions. Total respect to you, Mindy, for choosing to address the comment in the first place and your manner in doing so.
Thank you, I appreciate that. I mostly try not to engage with people who come at me because mostly I think they just want to argue or create conflict. Occasionally, though, the teacher in my just has to address something. :)
There's a street fair next weekend. I told my family if they could get creative and use up what we have opened in the fridge, freeze and cabinets then they can have this week's grocery budget to spend as they wish at the fair. We need to do better and waste less.
That's actually a great lesson in not only using what you have to prevent waste, but also showing how budgeting on the things you have control over gives you real power with your finances.
I have been trying to practice your “delaying going to the grocery store” and it definitely works. Sometimes I even decide I don’t really need to go at all. Thanks for the tip.
I am a blind single mom to a 13-year-old boy, we are in Boy Scouts as well as we do football. He is also a band boy, he’s debating about marching band when he gets in high school but he’s really good at football so now he doesn’t know what to do. Never played football a day in his life and we will have our second game tomorrow. He is a starter and he plays just about the entire game. It is quite a shock to me, I have to hold it together at his games because I just am so proud of my boy. Anything he does he does awesome. Sorry for rambling love your channel.
I laughed when you talked about how you put snacks out on your counter to kind of bribe your kids to come hang out and talk to you. Too funny. I remember being that age though. Love your channel!
I shop Aldi weekly, religiously. I love Aldi. I am not brand specific and I always buy store brands anyway. I always shop in-store and prefer to do it that way, and have never done grocery pickup. FYI: Fresh spinach would have been a good addition to your chicken/corn/pasta dish.
I work a somewhat later shift 10 am - 7pm which makes making dinner for two adults, always a rush job. I'm also 57yrs old with a chronic pain syndrome. Honestly, I have used so many of your recipes and hacks and they've all saved me so much time! THANK YOU! That chicken recipe, I thought of a few things that might make it quicker and easier for a weeknight meal: 1) Bacon Bits - reheated in the skillet. (I always save my bacon grease in the fridge - sometimes freezer - so I usually have extra on hand). 2) Frozen corn 3) When I buy parmesan, I buy it in blocks because *no caking agents* and shred about half of it right away. Seal it in a freezer bag and squeeze out all the air (my vacuum sealer died). This way I have pre-shredded but no anti-caking agent, parm ready! 4) I'd choose a different pasta, may be a cavatappi (curly hair pasta) or a mafalda (mini lasagna type noodles) that the sauce can easily coat but won't eat up like shells do. Just spit-balling a couple ideas!
To see the side by side comparison of Walmart and Aldi is extremely helpful. This makes you stand out as a channel, and I feel like most people who shop at Aldi also shop at Walmart.
I reviewed our pantry and freezer and put off shopping a whole week. Win for our budget this month. We have so much garden stuff to work through. We like Aldi because in 15-20 minutes we are done shopping. Starting to feel a little fall like in Kansas. Our new little granddaughter, Sydney is two weeks old today! Keep up the great work Mindy!
I LOVE grocery shopping, I like going in to the store and get ideas - with a lot of inspiration from your videos, thank you for YOU! - my husband did "Dad's cooking school" this summer, I have now commenced "Mom's grocery shopping school" with our kids 🙂
I have never used grocery pickup or delivery for any grocery store. I don’t really trust anyone to do it for me. I’m very picky about my groceries so I do it myself and I shop every Sunday morning as soon as Aldi opens.
I have tried a few times. You end up getting old produce, out dated dairy, and moldy bread. I've only tried at Walmart, tried twice, not going for a third.
You have amazing advice.i used what we had this week.i refuse to shop until it gone.because when I shop the kids eat the new food leaves the old not this time thanks Mindy ❤
Using the food you have before shopping is the best tip ever! You are so right that the old stuff gets pushed to the back…. My mother practiced this, we used to complain, “There’s nothing to eat!” And she would just laugh!
we did that with the meat in the freezer, we pulled out and grilled it all, and then sealed it back as a meal and then I put in my casserole crockpot and it reheats on low, for dinner that night. we are just now going forward only buying meat onsale > we are paying for marching band also, so we are really watching the money.
Thank you so much for sharing so much of yourself and your family with us. I appreciate it. You share great recipes and strategies for cooking and shopping. My girls also watch you now, and I have gotten a couple of young mothers at work to follow you. I love reading the comments section and love it when the people of this channel share their thoughts, ideas, and recipes as well. There is much love in this channel. I am excited to say that tomorrow I am going to see my Momma, and it has been 4 years. Let us pray for no delays from Francine as I am headed to Mississippi. May the Lord continue to bless your family, and this channel and all of us.❤❤❤
In this season of my life (disabled senior citizen), I love having the delivery option. I utilize Walmart and for my Aldi, I use door dash. Membership fees & tips are worth every penny for me. Oh and btw...your hair looks great in this video! Love the new style !
at the end I liked your review of the dinner. my husband often asks why I don’t remake something we all liked/ate. I couldn’t really explain why. It definitely comes down to the prep/fussiness of the dinner being worth it. Thanks!
(Posting as Joyce) I shop at Aldi weekly, if not twice a week. Walmart is just not convenient for me. It's either ShopRite or Aldi. I don't know why the prices of eggs are going up, but they are still cheaper at Aldi than ShopRite. I bought the Tzatziki dip with Greek Yogurt, Spinach Parmesan and Cucumber Dill flavor. They are both good. I mixed some with cooked chicken and it made a good chicken salad. I buy the waffles there, cheaper than name brand and my guys are okay with them. I buy the wheat bread, ham, cheese slices, apple juice and other things. I recently got a coupon in the mail for $10.00 off of a $40.00 purchase! Yay!! I have been inspired by you to use up things that I already have. Sometimes that works better than others. I'm trying!! Thank you for this video and all that you do!! God Bless. 😇
I’d totally watch a “grocery shop with me” video! Not necessarily any specific theme, or even on a strict budget, just your average grocery trip. Show your favorite treats, favorite staples, etc. I think that would be super interesting! Just an idea if you don’t have an idea some day and want to make a video!
Our Aldi curbside pickup through the Aldi app is a $1.99 fee I think, which still usually beats Walmart for things I buy! (There may be a 10c/bag fee for each paper bag they use-I think the most I’ve had is 3 on a $50 order)
I had the same experience and same price here in Virginia - then the next week they were 1.49, Eggs are up and down so much these days. Kroger has them on sale with a digital coupon this week - up to five dozen - for 1.99 a dozen in our area. Eggs will keep a long time in the fridge. When we lived in Europe with a tiny refrigerator, I never even put them in the fridge. No one did. And they stayed perfectly fine on top of the kitchen cabinet - and we only shopped once a month. I never cracked an egg and found a partially hatched chick...
My oldest teen is in marching band and my other 2 daughters are in orchestra, so I totally get the no money for groceries. Thankfully your videos have helped us during our hard times. ❤
I agree , make your list then delay going for a few days , then use what you have , it’s amazing what you can make with what you have and not a lot of waste 😊
I'm the apple person 1st pumpkin comes 2nd meaning 1 pumpkin something and I'm done! Peppermint I usually skip but my husband loves peppermint so I might have it 1x but I'll pick apple anything any time and almost anywhere lol
Holy crap. What a great way to encourage my kids to spend time with me while cooking. Make a communal snack -- I mean, they're already rummaging through the cupboards, so if I put out options near me, I can monitor intake AND hang out with them after school. Thanks for the tip! So simple.
I usually buy the 12 grain wide pan bread. It is delicious and provides needed fiber for this old senior 😊. Aldi is my go too grocery store. Walmart maybe once a month. I don't like pumpkin spice either. Love your videos.
Butter we bought $2.98 at Hy-Vee pu 15 boxes with 4 sticks each vs reg. $4.99bx-also they say in Nov. butter goes on sale-some like us buy for the year and put in deep freezer. We love Aldi, but I would love free pu, but upcharge of 25cents-$2 per item, plus pull fee, tip, and other frees way too much We do love the weekly Aldi finds When bacon is $2.99 we load up 12 packages in deep freezer. I will say this is for 12 ounces. Aldi's is around $3.99 in our area for 1# normally-so no need for sale With prices higher we are drawn to buy and eat what is on sale-and if massive sale we load up and put in deep freezer
Doing my shopping online via the Walmart app and picking it up is a money saver for me. I get to see exactly how much I’m spending and I’m not picking up unnecessary items from wandering through the aisles to see “what they have.”
Walmart Plus is awesome! I have definitely gotten my moneys worth over the last year and a half. I can easily compare prices, limit my shopping to what I decide fits that weeks budget, and make delivery on my own schedule. Typically I place my order on Friday nights for Saturday morning delivery. I get up in the morning and voila-delivery! And the $0.10 off on gas/per gallon is certainly appreciated as well.
I agree with you - there is just something about going into Aldi that I prefer. I need to get better about doing pick up or delivery with Kroger & Costco because I’m pretty consistent with what I’m buying there…
Agreed. The Yeti mugs are so well made and basically indestructible. I even splurged on engraved water bottles for my kids. Those things have been dropped, thrown, run over, etc and are still perfect!
I enjoy going to grocery stores as I look for new finds and bargains while sticking to list as my list is needs and ideas according to what's available that will go with what I have. Pumpkin is my favorite in treats but enjoy fresh local apples as well to make apple crisp, pie or eat fresh. Loved the video
Aldi will always be my favorite place to get fall and Christmas cookies! Their maple leaf cookies in fall and German spice cookies for Christmas are the highlight of the seasons for me and you can’t really get them anywhere else!
Nice video! In our area we dont have Aldi wish we did. But we do have Winco. They have great prices most of time. But because of life getting busy we shop Walmart a lot pickup or delivery. Great video like always. Thank you ❤️
I don't tend to buy much pumpkin spice for myself but I get some for my daughter. I prefer apple, pear, caramel, or cinnamon things in the fall. That snack assortment looked awesome. Our closest aldi is 45 minutes away, so I've only been once but I loved it. My youngest was a few months away from 3 when we got Walmart pickup here, and it made my life so much easier. He hust turned 9 on Monday and we've been using it since. It still makes my life easier for a few reasons. Shopping takes a while because there are 6 of us. Our older son is on the spectrum and shorter trips to get fill-in items are fine but our weekly grocery trip where we have to buy for 5 or 6 people (our oldest graduated college and moved out last year but i still count her), requires a lot of time and energy and can be hard on him and us, so we get a pickup every Friday. I can't really do the delay thing because we really need to go every Friday for the routine for our son, our work schedule, and it's near other places we need to go to, like the pharmacy. But, I do check the pantry, standing freezer, and fridge/freezer on Thursdays so I can make sure to not buy duplicates and so I can use what we already have to meal plan for the next week.
I'm so excited that I finally got an Aldi close to home. Very convenient on the way home from work. I hate going to my Walmart so I avoid going there like the plague. I can avoid them because I'm in a different time of life. I do definitely shop wisely and look for deals and convenience without the crazy like and parking.
Two things, I am a peppermint girl through and through! Also, I usually do pick up and honestly it is such a time saver, today I had a list of errands and stopped at Sam's Club picked up my stuff never got out of my car, stayed on budget! I am the pick up queen, if the store has the option likely I have done it. It so curbs impulse spending.
I love that you said the Walmart comment about how convenient pick up and delivery is. I invested in that when my son was born 4 years ago and I swear I’ll never go back. The amount of time I save and MONEY from not picking up impulse items has been great. We still go into stores such as Aldi but we can not beat the convenience of Walmart. Especially during the holiday season!
I feel the same way. I started an Instacart subscription in 2020 when I was pregnant with my youngest (to avoid going out into stores and interacting with people). I’ve continued to renew it and that baby is now an active 4 year old. My husband and I both work full time and it’s such a time and budget saver to add my groceries to a list and arrange an Aldi pickup for after work.
I love shopping at Aldi. It makes me less anxious when choosing my items. Not too many choices like walmart. And the no tax on groceries bill that just has been passed helps a little.
This is a great quick and cheap dinner: 1 lb (or even a little less) ground beef, 1 jar of any kind of marinara sauce, 1 C any kind of cheese, 1 pkg Knorr noodles & Alfredo sauce. Brown the beef and add 1 1/2 C of the marinara sauce. (I used the $1.35 bottle from Aldi and had some left for another time). Add some Italian spices and some garlic (any kind) to the meat mixture. Prepare the Knorr noodles & Alfredo sauce according to pkg directions, but cut the water to 3/4 C. Put half of the meat mixture in the bottom of a greased 8 X 8 square inch pan. Cover with 1/2 C cheese. Put the Alfredo noodles mixture on top of the ground beef mixture. Put the rest of the ground beef & marinara sauce on top. Cover with 1/2 C grated cheese Cook in a ore0geated 350 oven for 30 minutes at 350 until bubbly and then let stand for 10 minutes to firm up a bit so you can cut it in squares. Serve with garlic toast and a side like a salad or broccoli. The Knorr pkgs were on sale at Food Lion this week for $1.12 which is cheaper than the Dollar Tree! This is so simple and delicious and plenty for four people. If I had hungry kids, I would use 2 pkgs of the Knorr Alfredo noodles and increase the marinara sauce to 3 cups, but would keep the ground beef at 1 pound.
I am definitely not a peppermint / orange flavor type of person, but I will agree with you on apple & cinnamon, this is a delicious combo and I would certainly go for it. Pumpkin Spice? I mean it's not bad so why not? I have it probably once or twice when the fall begins, but I am really not a die-hard fan of it. The "spice cookies" as you have called them are absolutely delicious. We have them in Aldi / Lidl in Europe as well and they are always in stock around fall / christmas season. Yum!
Mindy, I am with you, apple all the way and peppermint! I am an apple crisp, apple cider, apple spice cake, apple doughnuts kind of gal! I am not fond of pumpkin spice.
I saw those waffles in the store Saturday and was excited (it's that time of year again!). I've bought them the past two years! I didn't get them this time not in the budget. But they're good!
I've been doing Walmart delivery only. I'm not happy with their produce but the trade off is worth it. My Kroger's is small and old, no Aldi, Publix, WinCo, etc.
🎃 spice, depending on what it is. I love pumpkin, but not in everything. Also, not with white chocolate. I like apple flavored things. I got the 🍎 cinnamon spice yogurt pretzels at aldi. Pretty good. I thought they had yogurt covered raisins at one point. I bet it was a limited time item.
Love pumpkin spice especially coffee. I know this sounds strange but it is really great with some butter and heavy whipping cream and a few shakes of salt.I also add 3 drops Lugols iodine. I really can't taste it and it is so good for you.
Aldi is across the street from me (Walmart next door lol). I go to Aldi when I need to stop in and grab a few things, but I love Walmart pickup for a full grocery shop. Otherwise I spend on things I don't need! Aldi got me the other day with candles! Im supposed to be using up candles, and now I have four more :/
I miss going into Aldi especially the seasonal food specials, being disabled I have no choice but to use a delivery service. I'm with you on the peppermint! I noticed you sometimes use a portion of a pasta box. Did you know you can freeze plain cooked pasta and it doesn't get mushy? To heat it up add to warm sauce or boiling water for 3-5 minutes.
I’m like you, not into pumpkin spice flavor. However I very much enjoy Peppermint season! Thankfully my grocery put peppermint out at the same time as PSL.
Haven't been to Aldi in months either. Walmart offers lower prices, and free pick up, and now Walmart plus. I used to love Aldi but Walmart offers more now!

same here they over load that pumpkin spice season. lol
Totally agree on the not liking pumpkin spice. My go-to fall flavor is caramel apple.

I agree with you - there is just something about going into Aldi that I prefer. I need to get better about doing pick up or delivery with Kroger & Costco because I’m pretty consistent with what I’m buying there…
I love the Yeti mug. I have a couple and have also had them for probably 8 years, and they are still going strong
I have some that are dupes and have had them for about the same amount of time...I will not buy a brand!
I really enjoy your videos! You always have such great ideas and advice! Thank you!
Thank you so much, I appreciate that!
If I didn't have a neighbor hood market, I would never go!
Yes!!
I've been using the pickup option for Sam's as well. You are right, it curbs so much impulse buying, especially at that store!
I am definitely a pumpkin spice girl! I made pumpkin cream cheese muffins with mini chocolate chips last week!
Thank you for the video. Blessings to you.
I found our local Walmart charges more for items when I do pick up sadly.
Sounds like hamburger helper but better
@@jetv1471 No resemblance to hamburger helper! And I just made the same recipe again, but this time with ground pork - also delicious.
Mindy, your hair looks great!❤
I like shopping at Aldi but this last year I have been doing in home delivery from Walmart.
I do miss Aldi shopping. Your hair looks so cute today.
I never seen at my Aldi sugar free jam. I gotten at mine yogurt raisin. Great video.
love pumpkin spice cappacinos. stopped drinking coffee about a year ago though. its a tempting.. but still too hot in Texas.
Yum!
Thanks for sharing!
Peppermint gang here!
I make this with lima beans and thyme instead of chicken and we have succotash pasta!
Mindy, I am with you, apple all the way and peppermint! I am an apple crisp, apple cider, apple spice cake, apple doughnuts kind of gal! I am not fond of pumpkin spice.
Lucky my Aldi is really close to Walmart right off the same road before Walmart. Love my Aldi's.
I loved those pretzel bites. The cheese sauce was so good too! Love Aldi!
Love pumpkin spice, particularly pumpkin beer!
Going inside aldis is a must. They change items often.
You’d think that with my birthday being on the first day of Fall that I would love pumpkin spice but alas no!😂 I am also an apple fan!
I'm with you, I prefer Apple spice and Peppermint over Pumpkin spice. I actually strongly dislike Pumpkin spice.
I went to Aldi today. Eggs are usually under $2, they were $3.97 today! I’m in Southern California.
I love going into the grocery store because if I didn’t I wouldn’t have much reason to leave the house. I love a good grocery shop haha
I’m not a fan of peppermint but definitely a fan of pumpkin spice!
I saw those waffles in the store Saturday and was excited (it's that time of year again!). I've bought them the past two years! I didn't get them this time not in the budget. But they're good!
They're already gone, so the kids liked them!
I do grocery shopping once a month instead of once a week. I find I save more month by staying out of grocery stores except for my monthly trip. ❤
We don't have an Aldi anywhere around us, so when I go to a city that has one, I go. Just for the fun of it. Plus i love their sweets.
I like the apple cinnamon and peppermint flavors. Pumpkin spice is ok, but not my first choice.
I think i'm ready. However, when I get into the grocery store, I freeze!🥶
I’m with you, prefer apple flavors for fall, & big peppermint fan ❤️
glad I'm not alone!
The maple favor pop corn was so so good. Maybe not such good thing but I did use control and only bought one. lol
Your Wal-Mart plus is free?
@@judywho2249 no Walmart plus is like $99 a year but they offer 50% off once in a while
I shop at Aldi first. But price my list from Walmart app to compare! Grocery pick up at Walmart is great!
My daughter was in competitive marching band. I can completely relate. She loved it and honestly I enjoyed ot more than my sons sports
I figured this out too. I just do Walmart. Fun to go to Aldi for different stuff though.
Agreed. I'll still make it to Aldi occasionally, but I'm in the Walmart Grocery Pick-Up season of family life. LOL!
