Best seatrout videos on the entire platform! New format works really well too, very pleasant to watch and learn something new every time. Keep up the good work Robert :)
Brilliant! I've just stumbled across this video and subscribed to your channel. I really appreciate the 'catch and tie' format - very good idea. Thanks
Nothing wrong with spinning, would like to know more about his tackle and methods. Not as satisfying as fly fishing but both methods have their place, especially in a howling wind.Great vid as usual, Robert.
Great video as usual Robert. I flyfish and spin for seabass in the UK mostly fly, flyfishing is much more fun and satisfying plus you get more of a buzz when you see your flyline tighten. thanks for sharing tight lines
Those sea and weather conditions are mirror image of what we get here on the East coast of Vancouver Island, BC, Canada at this time of year. Our sea-run Cutthroat trout are getting ready for the salmon fry smorgasbord which will be coming downstream to them soon. Fishing the fry-fly between the waves with a fast retrieve usually gets them interested as do foam head surface attractors. So much in common... thanks.
Sooo amazing these mulkies fly, works well in many different colours! I have so many friends whose said they are not interested in, but they must change your opinions! Great video Robert!😍👌
Do you prefer superglue to the new UV resin some fly tyres use? Superglue 'glues' in seconds, but I find it takes a good 10 or more minutes to set. Mind you, I'm using the cheap, crap stuff we get in the UK
Great vid Robert and I look forward to fishing with you and Tapani again. I want to ask you if its possible to get a few shots of you casting? The reason being is that I remember being mesmerised by your art of casting and how graceful you are with the fly. I have told everyone that fishes with me that just watching you cast is a work of art. Thanks so much. And keep up the great vids.
Hello Robert) What is the difference between simple STIFU and STIFU seatrout? Are they both good for salty fjord fishing?)) Love your videos, learning a lot from them)
Robert, I love your videos, I’ve been over the last two decades an avid estuary sea trout fisherman. I must admit I use herring and make real strip in the method of spinning. Your videos have inspired me to try the fly method and I’ve known locally it’s getting more and more popular. As an avid salmon angler by initially trolling on loch Tay from January 15th unilateral may and then retreating to Loch Lomond to continue much of the same methods with the fly thrown in here and there. Then and also fishing the fly on many rivers until the seasons end. I was wondering if you have ever fished the lochs for salmon by the fly or any other method, if not it could be a future tutorial and an adventure for you. We are in a period where the materials for fly fishing are changing rapidly and depending on the place , materials change almost monthly. Any thoughts or advice would be perfect.
Hi Robert. Really enjoy watching your videos. I do spinning the most so more of that is most welcome! By the way: Don't you add weight to your Mulkkis?
I fly fish as well,in fact I’m a casting instructor but never fish in the sea apart from when I’m in Cuba . Do you mostly just fish a floating line . Season here runs from January to end of October but not sure about fishing early months in the old water?
In sub 4 degrees water it tend to be slow retrieve that works. Here it was just above that and then I try different speeds. When it instantly gave result with a faster retrieve I kept doing that.
Another great video thanks Robert. How do your catch rates with this fly compare to the pattegrisen? I’m always put off by the price of spey capes and end up buying the flies. But this might be a cheaper way to a very effective shrimp pattern. Love you channel. Maybe one day I’ll get across to Sweden 🇸🇪 😎👍🏴
good job mate! chase the same fish here across the big pond in Newfoundland... I will let you know if the sea trout here like that mulkkis! ever tried a magic head on it?
@@FlyFishingbyRobert I'm also here in Newfoundland and now that salmon season is over time to chase big browns in the ocean. I'm gonna get a mulkkis as well and I love your enthusiasm for fishing, I feel the same way.
Lovely waters you are fishing! Is a part of the sea trout there stocked in the creeks on your island? Btw.: Wiggling often fishes much better than jigging. ;o) Sebastian
Much work has been done to improve the creek habitat for the sea trout in this area. Along one small creek they’ve made a path with spawning pools marked for fish-spotting during spring. The aim has been to display the importance of even very small streams. Highly commendable!
@@FlyFishingbyRobert Just read your block, you and your colleague fishing 2019 the coast. Your colleague caught a farmed fish. How is it possible to identify those fish?
Jag fiskar nästan uteslutande tillsammans med min bror på Gotland, jag kör fluga och han spinn. Tidig vår/vinter fördel fluga, varmare vatten spinn är väl de jag märkt av.
What you mean with too high, and a 4 wt is perfect when its little to no wind and Long leaders and gammarus😄😄 I use a 2 wt 10 ft nymphing rod for my gammarus fishing in no wind and small fish area🤔 works perfectly fine but offcourse 7 wt in high wind😛
Im sorry. Too high. I ment too weak. At least for the way I fish with two flies looking like earplugs, sometimes in strong wind and for having the appropriate gear for the potential to catch fish to upwards a meter. But I see here in the reply that you know fishing and understand what you can do with the gear you already have and thats great!
I'd say "where" is an important question as well. Sea trouth in saltier water does not tend to be as big as the one Robert is fishing for. In Swedish west coast most anglers use class 5-6 and some even use class 4 during the still days. I fish in both spots and use a class 6 on both and it works for me. I would not go for a class 4 on Gotland both to the environment and the fish.
@@andyp9678 That happens very often for me too that I don't catch them. But in general, they are more desperate for food and therefore easier to catch in low water temperatures.
I could be seriously tempted to come across the North sea and try for sea trout in Denmark.Met angler and fly tyers at the British fly fair who are from Denmark and fish for them

Lots of sea trout, an anglers paradise. Your quite lucky Mr Robert.

Hello. They are just different lengths and actions. The shorter is more stiff I believe.

What depth of water is Jin front of you, and is there a drop off that you are casting over to get some depth?
About 50 cm. No, the dropoff is further out. I only fish the shallow water in this video.

The local population here is all wild but there can sometimes be stocked fish that comes from other places.

Hi Robert. Do you fish in high or low tide most? Or does it matter. Thanks
Hi Christopher. There is no tide where I fish.
How far do you usually cast?
Do you ever fish the Bombarda float?
No. I only like to fly fish
Prefer Fly Fishing to Spin Casting but if not biting on flies happy to use Spinning Rod.
Hey is it appropriate to take a class 4 fly fishing rod with 5/6 reel to fish for sea trout?
That rod will be too high. I would recommend a seven weight.

Looks like a old Danish fly called Glimmerrejen
It is the Finnish way of saying Glimmerrejen you could say 🙂
It’s inspired by it to my understanding. True Nordic cooperation 🇩🇰🇸🇪🇫🇮🇳🇴🇮🇸!
are you using a sinking line or a sink tip weight forward i think ?
The line is floating. In the description you find my setup.
@@FlyFishingbyRobert sorry didnt look, my apologies
No worries. I made a video in December where I explain why I use floating lines so often. Check it out 🙂

Why would you tie a different coloured fly than the fly you were fishing and catching on very strange.
Those gloves wool
Yes. From "Fish Monkey" 👌
if you want my input no point in editing on music.
Although I prefer to Fly fish for them, better sport with them.
