I’m in tears watching this! Many of these people became my friends during my four decades in music, and to see them so young and so full of “the blues”! As a founding member of the Canada South Blues Society, the Great Lakes Blues Society and the Bruce County Blues Society I had many many encounters with these amazing musicians! In fact, I looked after Lucky Peterson’s and Phil Guy’s eastern Canadian appearances, amongst others, for several years! The Blues in the Schools was near and dear to my heart. Peace
It's great to see companies like Alligator still promoting a true Staple of American music. The fact that it doesn't make any real money for themselves and the artists shows you how much love and belief they have in it. I'd rather see the integrity in something that's real than the alternative of all these shitty internet companies offering services to supposedly promote music when all they are interested in is taking money from artists that haven't got it. Great documentary. keep up the good work.
I've loved Bruce since my mom & I use to listen to his Blues show on Thursday nights on 106 FM here in Chicago. I'm really glad to hear Elmore James music alive & well. Honored to know you Bruce! Peace & Love!
I did sound & lighting for a Lonnie Brooks outdoor show around '89 - '90 in Southwest Ohio. Nice to run across this film. This footage of Lonnie seems to be right about the same era, as his stage clothing & hat appear to be the same. I had a stage plot( a paper that shows the placement of band gear on stage) that I had him autograph. Unfortunately, I lost it between moves and now I got the Blues.
I'm in love, no idea if she'll accept the proposal, but, I'm so radically changed by loving that the blues I had, vanished... but if I get dumped, I'll feel so yuk, I'll surely be blue. If I survive to feel blue.
@6'20" " Without Delmark Records in the 60s and the 70s, there would not have been a Chicago blues recording sc3ne " W H A T T T ? That s the most absurd utterance I ve evvuhhh heard concerning the subject : the dude obviously doesn t now such tiny,,insignificant companies as CHESS, VJ, ntm ALLIGATOR. I m outta heah, u heah ...
I'm sorry, she may be one hell of a blues singer, but Koko Taylor should never be allowed to lead the national anthem ( 35:23 ) again. Its not even about how she was off key half of the time. If you can't remember the damned words, write them down for God's sake. Have some respect for a song that commemorates all those who have given life and limb for our country. Was she drunk? That was cringeworthy.

"blow him off!" Totally staged. How do I know? He would know that whomever he was blowing off might see this film. :-)

Since she's been dead for 10 years I think you're pretty safe on your wish there.
Ok, Mr Charlie.
Who cares about your opinion...her performance was poignant...your opinion is pointless
Your comment is ridiculous since she did a great performance coming straight from the heart! Maybe the drunk is yourself. GREAT JOB KOKO
