Just found your channel... Outstanding with the black... Have been ice dying fabrics for quilting and ready to move to garments...good instruction and I am excited to try! Thank you!!
I Love your videos!!!! They are so helpful!!!! I love that is no stupid music on here. You are to the point and clear on your directions. THANK-YOU!!!!
That is AWESOME! I tried it and it worked perfectly thanks! I love my new shirt!
this is my new favorite/easy technique and most requested. love your tutorials!
aww i love your little "hello" at the beginning! haha
That shirt came out sick......I want one
i'm OBSESSED with your tiedye. (:
@Leephongsavanh i dont put anything into my dyes besides water. i do soak the shirt in soda ash solution though which makes the fabric absorb the dye
Totally glad I found the videos , but kinda bummed , does this nifty dude not make videos any more ? I really like his techniques !
beautiful, i like it! Thanks.
btw, does the process of tye dying a hoodie differ from tye dying a regular t-shirt? (how did you tie dye your hoodie that you're wearing at 4:50?)
This is so cool! But when you do this, is the entire back of your shirt just black?
STEVE you are a WIZARD. Oh man, I'm watching all of your videos and I want to try these out so badly, but it's 1:30 am. How can I sleep when I'm so jazzed?!
In the video I can see that you have all your bottles there. Do you use all the dye when you put it in the bottles or do you let it sit... hope that makes
Sense
hey so i have a question, if you dye on a different color other than white and tye dye on a gray shirt insted. will you still get the same results that you would get on a white shirt;? thanks! :)
this might be a really stupid question, but what do you do with the run off under the wire rack? If you don't use a lot of dark colors, is that mixture of dye reusable?
Straight to the point and simple, thank you :)
Where did you get your dye kit or did yu by them seperate ?? Did the bottles come with the dye kit ?
If you used dark purple instead of black would it still give the same effect, or just look a mess?
one last thing bro, how long should I soak t-shirt in soda ash?
and what kind of color you use? I bought one, but They say
I have to boil the dyes and also put shirt into it for one hour.
You just put the dye strait to the shirt, I need that kind
of dyes.. =)
waiting for you replying
Thanks
@kevin92896 yes. you will get a normal swirl without the stripes
Hi, I'm just curious, but is the black sides on both sides of the shirt? Or does it bleed through? Plz let me know cuz I would like to make this.
Hey bro,
Do we have to put sal into the color? somebody told me that
inorder to make color long lasting?? is it true??
Please answer.
@Leephongsavanh they say you should soak the shirt in soda ash for 15 minutes. but i let it soak for like 5 and its fine. i use procion mx dyes i get them from prochemicalanddye(.)com under the "cotton and other plant fibers" tab. the dye comes in a powder then you have to mix it with water in a squirt bottle. you can watch my video on mixing the dyes on my channel.
what about sleeves and hood? should they be dyed together with the shirt or separately?
your hoodie is so awesome
do you apply black on both sides or only on one side?
Are the stripes on the back, on the front, or both?
Because I would like them on the front.
what dye do you use? and do you add water to the die?
God! love your channel!
@colorfulsteve how many hours is it best to leave it dry? ://
Would the black stripes look the same on the other side? Or would you have to do the same black dye technique on both sides
Does the backside turn out more black than the front, or does it look the same?
Should you rinse the shirts off to get out excess dye after your 6-8 hours?
You are an awesome tie dyer
@codie8569 i dont store them anywhere i leave them on the table until theyre gone. ive never had any issues with it
I did this and it turned out great!!! :D
what is this dye called? where can i get it from?? i've only been able to find powdered clothing dye
@kelllzbelllz it sounds like you would, but no it ends up on both sides
Hey, do you think that you could do a tutorial on how to make a yin yang?
some people say to wrap them in a platic bag but i dont and they turn out fine
i have a question do you keep your dye mixed and just sitting there?
can you use a different color than black for the stripes?
If you only do the black on one side, won't you only have black stripes (or stained glass appearance) on one side?
If you don't dye the other side, will the stripes be white?
Nice! :O I was wondering how to do that!
@1McKenzie5 thats awesome!
Is the black on the back or front or both??
Could i use Orange for the stripes instead of black?
the dye comes in a powder then you add water. check out my video called how to mix your dyes for more info
@KLVS13CITY after you dye it i usually let it sit for 6-8 hours some people say 4-6 hours
were do u get all those dyes
@lallumusi5 im not going to make a video on it becuase i dont have any sweatshirts on me but to tie dye a sweatshirt you do the exact same thing you would for a shirt it just requires alot more dye and bigger rubberbands.
I just .. LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!, im really obsessed with that asdfghj♥
@lalaalennon thank you! check out my website it has all my tie dyes on it. stevensworld(.)net
is this possible with only 3 colors?
@voxsk8r402 yes you can use any color
no but it would be the same as a shirt just alot more fabri requiring alot more dye. i wouldnt reccommend the black stripes though since a jacket/hoodie is much thicket material the stripes wouldnt show up very well on the front
i don't understand how the stripes come out...do the black stripes appear on the front and back of the shirt?
0:51 now you're ready to die... Cracked me up!
Can you do this without adding the black to the back side?
Do you do the black on both sides or just one? I wanted the black stripes to be on both sides! Please reply ASAP :)
he only dyed one side, as the video showed. "the black will show up on the front and the back" was first line of the video description. you only need to apply black to one side is what i learned from pay attention to the video, reading the added notes that 'popped up' as i watched the video, and reading the video description!! hoped that helped and maybe next time you can figure out the answer before asking! -Mary :)
Is it 6 to 8 hours or 68hours?
How did you do the hoodie
@bubeandbubble Are you soaking in Soda Ash?
What kind of dye do you use?
@colorfulsteve Your website is awesome! Everybody shoudl check it out!
@1223JOEY1223 yes it is
Does the stripes have to be black? Can it be like purple or orange?
Yeah of corse
bro wich type of dye do you use?
what brand of dye do you use
@Daniokas i rinse my shirts in cold water
I love that
Is it possible to have the stripes be white? If so how would you do it?
You dye one side with colors and don't dye the other side. I just did one a few weeks ago. It actually looks really cool!
Dude i just did this and it turned out awesome!! You fucking rock! lol
I'm all late but does anyone know what kind of dye he is using. They are so bright
i do them together. i just lay the sweatshirt out flat then spin it like you would a normal swirl on a normal shirt
It is 6 to 8. I suppose 68 would give you extremely vibrant colors, but it's really not necessary. :)
@StCskater420 just on the one side
Is it possible to tiedye a black sweater but with the rainbow colors? Answer please c:
uReact2 yes! Bleach tie dye first and then add color
now you're ready to dye! ;)
Now you're ready to dye!
@thenameiseleanor i dont reuse the dye

@mromar53 no front and back
@colorfulsteve thank you so much bro, I sub you and like on your page, If I have any more problem I will be back again.. Nice VDO bro it helps me a lot!
Thanks!
mv, i read the description
How do you do a pull over hoodie
Same exact way. Best if the shirt is 100% cotton and since the hoodie is going to be a heavier material than a t-shirt you will need to use more dye. really soak it with the colors and use your gloved fingers to work the dye into the folds. When you put the black on only put it on one side and don't over-do it or you will cover up all the color. It is best to use a really concentrated black and not much of it.
@manelitosantos1 he only did onne side
the stripes would just be dark purple instead of black
its the same as a shirt but it requires alot more dye
wondering if its possible for this technique to work on leggings?
If they where white probably
ur so cool
both
