Another quick tip is if you have 275+ Fishing Speed you can just use Minnow Bait for the 300 Fishing Speed Cap *UNLESS ON CRIMSON ISLE* on Crimson Isle you'd need to reach 325 Fishing Speed + Minnow Bait to reach max fishing speed.
With absolutely max bobbing time 5, and max fishing speed, bait will become useless other than the increased Legendary Sea Creature chance from Whale Bait, Light Bait, or Dark Bait.

i have a theroy would light/dark bait be better in crimson isle fishing since the weight it give is the same as whale bait and its cheaper

It probably won't because it doesn't give fishing speed, and losing 30 from the whale bait is a lot
