Well, it's a historical drama, so SPOILERS (even if it's history) she was executed by making her drink poison. Her brothers were executed and all her political faction murdered and for good measure, the king made a decree that prohibits concubines escalate to Queen consort. Which was a smart thing to do in my opinion and should have made soon to prevent all this political dramas and the palace's intrigues. I mean some concubines were from very wealthy families/tribes and only entered the palace with the aspiration to escalate position and become Queen which lead to a lot of false accusations, poison, and executions of actually innocent people. Not sure if this decree was maintained after his death but I bet that from that moment only ladies from more humble families thought about attempting to enter the harem to have a better life.
If you are talking about Suk-won, she was elevated to the Bin rank (Suk-bin) after giving birth to a son, Yi Geum. She died in her late 40s, almost 20 years after Jang Ok-jeong. She was respected in the palace and got along very well with the new Queen. Her son is one of the longest reigning Korean monarchs and is considered one of the greatest Kings of the Joseon Dynasty. The one who opened the door to a new golden age. Unlike Ok-jeong's son, whom most people don't even remember.
This is a pro Jang Ok-jung drama scriptwriter and Director trying to make viewrs sympathise wth her. The drama put a lot of emphasis on the caste system to make modern viewers feel sympathy for Ok-jung.
Exactly. And if anyone in that palace suffered because of the caste system it was Choe Suk-bin and her son (who had to deal with people looking down on him because of his "lowly" birth mother for his whole life). Definitely not Jang Hui-bin who came from a respected middle class family. No one ever disrespected her because of her background. On the other hand, Choe Suk-bin could never dare to dream of being Queen. Even if Sukjong didn't prohibit concubines from being promoted, she would've never been considered. The most likely candidate was Kim Young-bin, a Noron yangban (her father was from the Andong Kim and her mother from the royal clan). Even Queen Inhyeon recommended her while on her death bed. Unlike what is portrayed in dramas, Choe Suk-bin never even had a chance because of her low status.
WHY THIS SERIES THEY MAKE JANG OK JUNG A GOOD HUMAN EVEN SHE SO EVIL the MOST THING THAT I DONT LIKE IN THIS IS THEY CHANGING THE HISTORY OF THEIR OWN COUNTRY SO BIAS FOR THOSE ACTRESS...THEY MAKE JANG SO GOOD THEN OTHER LADIES WERE BAD.
