    Hi Drea, thanks for another excellent video. Try propagating your treubii vine in water with a golden pothos vine. Golden Pothos has a miracle rooting hormone that helps plants to root and speeds up the process. I had difficulty with my moonlight; curling leaves, vines dying and non-existent roots. It was very full when I bought it, however, the leaves immediately started curling and did not fully recover. Eventually it died down to about three vines. I potted two of them up in a good aroid mix and put them in my grow tent under LEDs and they slowly recovered into a plant with HUGE leaves. The last vine had virtually no roots left, so I propped it in water first with the pothos and it quickly developed roots. It is now back in soil and is doing great, although I think I have to move it because it is getting a little sun bleached. I propped scindapsus argyraeus in water with a pothos vine, as well. In my experience, argyraeus have been very slow to root in water alone, but after I added the pothos, it rooted much faster. The pothos technique is not a joke, it really worked for me. There are UA-cam vids on it as well, Everything Plants did one last September. I have been doing it for years, unknowingly, because I am always rooting pothos, everywhere.

    Imo the Treubii, is the slowest growing plant ever, even after I repotted it still took 3 months to put out new growth. The only prop that survived was in spag/perlite under a cup.

    I just started working at a greenhouse in February. I'm in charge of all the house plants and tropicals. I was GOBSMACKED when we got in all of our house plants and not on of the pothos were rooted! If I see a yellowing or a dead leaf I will pull it off, every once in awhile I would accidentally pool on another leaf when I was pulling the one leaf out. Every time I did that the leaf that I accidentally tugged on the whole stem came out of the soil! I just couldn't believe that they will send those to a greenhouse to be sold like that. We probably got in a total of a hundred different varieties of pothos and not one of them were rooted.

      @@AlohaPlantLife why not just let it root first. Makes no sense to me. I understand that they want to move product and get product out as fast as possible, but it's a living plant. They need time to root and transport stress doesn't help.

    Hey Drea...just today I discovered yellow leaves on a very full Scindapsus Picture Argyreus that I purchased this summer from The Home Depot. I was so proud of that plant because it was full and I got it a a great price, (8-inch pot). So, I took it out today, and low and behold the soil was mostly peat! I guess when the weather got cool here, the soil stayed wetter much longer. Anyway, I soaked the roots in water and hydrogen peroxide this morning and had to cut off 99% of the roots! My saving grace was that the vines were about 8 inches long, so I was able to save a good number of the leaves. Phew! I put them in a two brown bottles of water. After seeing your Argyreaus, I am impressed with all that root growth!
    Can you share your soil mixture? I would love to take one of my bottles of cuttings and put in that soil mixture. Thanks, Drea! 🌴🧡

      I use my epiphyte mix for scindapsus. Here’s my video on how to make that mix as well as my other mixes: ua-cam.com/video/k9B8jNsYzjw/v-deo.html

      @@AlohaPlantLife Thank you!! I just transferred about 10 short vines into the mixture you recommend. I already had all the ingredients, except I used old soil and I don’t know if it was orchard mix. Also, I don’t have a see-through plastic container, so I put them in a terra-cotta pot.
      I hope it works.🙏🏾🤣I love the idea of being able to see the roots of my plants, so for some time, I have been contemplating buying some clear pots, anyway. Wish me luck and thanks again, Drea! We appreciate you so much! ❤️🪴😊

    I've lost two vibes on my moonlight so I have two left, it went from a full 6 inch pot to a "wtf is this?" plant and I did repot when I received it and it did have ok roots, not massive but not just sticks shoved in. My two vines are actually putting out new leaves though so I'm not going to be repotting it into anything smaller (though it should be) because I'm scared that disrupting the roots makes this plant self-destruct. I do have it in will draining soil, my normal around mix, and I use Orchid fertilizer (half dose) every time I water... I had Orchid fertilizer so that is what's being used lol... I'm hoping it will get long enough soon that I can bobby pin it as I do have one node that I had pinned BC it was floppy that's now taken grip. Meanwhile, I'm propping my global green pothos for the 4th or 5th time since I got it and they were both the same size to start, I keep having to give some hair trims because the floor exists 🤣
    My moonlight has put me off of buying other scindapsis though which is kinda sad. I also just realized the only philodendron I own is the Brasil 😲

      I find the scindapsus pictus varieties to be much more laid back and chill than the truebii varieties. I’m actually kinda shocked you only own one philodendron! So what’s the next philodendron on your philodendron wishlist?

    Omgee, thank you for telling me that plants can live in water forever. 😊 What are your top 3-5 options for tgis growing method? I have a fish tank and would love to incorporate some in with my Betta.

      When it comes to aquarium situations using actual aquatic plants is best for the fish. Pet supply stores usually carry a good selection of aquatic plants. As for houseplants that can grow permanently in vessels of water, I’m working on a video about that right now 😉

    Not sure what I did wrong, I took 3 corms from my Polly and one from my black velvet, I peeled the brown layer off and have had them in water in bottle caps in my window for weeks and they are just turning a dark colour? No roots but not mushy. Oh and I have a glass over them. Does it take a long time for roots?

    • @AlohaPlantLife
      @AlohaPlantLife  2 роки тому

      Depends, my ones that are the size of a macadamia nut or larger seem to get roots faster than smaller ones. I always throw the small ones in bottle caps as well even though I know they may be too small to be viable because sometimes they’ll surprise you and survive. The smallest one I’ve had survive is still under a glass in a bottle cap in my kitchen and it actually got its first leaf with only having developed one 1 millimeter long root. That root is now about 1/4 inch long and it’s getting a second leaf but no additional roots yet. I think I initially propagated it 4-6 weeks ago at this point. The white part of the corm does take on a more tanish brownish color over time. What direction does the window you have it in face?
